taken from atv news network website:
Channel 5 has told ATV Today that talks are continuing as the channel looks to find a long running reality show.
When Richard Desmond bought Channel 5 earlier this year, he made it clear he was interested in bringing a variety of programmes to the channel, including Big Brother. The final Big Brother bowed out last month on Channel 4.
Last week the Media Guardian reported that talks about buying the format were all but over. Interest is now on a show called 'The Golden Cage'. The show is similar to Big Brother, but has no end date and no nominations or evictions.
ATV Today asked Channel 5 this weekend about the claims. A spokeswoman told us “We are talking to lots of people about a range of programming, but not in a position to confirm anything yet.” When we asked if talks regarding Big Brother were over, the spokeswoman would neither confirm or deny the reports.
see they actually haven't said anything yet so..... we'll just have to wait and see :nono:

Sounds promising, I really hope we get news soon. If its not coming back id rather they just say then drag it out.
tbh I think we all know that its not coming back any time soon, I believed it for about 10 seconds then in the same paragraph it said they also want corrination street, they just want publicity. Hope I'm wrong.

I think the BB related progs are ch5 testing the water to see what audience they get. It will help determine whether its worth them buying BB.
Personally I think they'd be better going with a whole new thing. Better than trying to copy ch4s BB as they will just be constantly compared and probably not favourably either.

Yep.
It has the potential to go on all year round or more and they live in a villa or mansion.
I think it'll be awesome and if they don't make a Big Brother 12 UK I hope they do this but it depends on the cast.

De Gouden Kooi was interesting to watch in the Netherlands, and would be an interesting replacement for Big Brother in the UK

Thanks for this. I'd rather BB12 than Golden Cage because I don't think Golden Cage would last too long. It would either be very controversial like the original version, or be very, very long and dull. Same as BBs7-11 really. Producers shouldn't rely on a longer running reality series if they can't guarantee it'll still be entertaining after so many weeks.
