View Full Version : Simon Cowell Is he the only judge ever to have sent home his own act?
I think he is isn't he? When he sent home the Conway Sisters (I think it was them anyway)
Yeah, we were just talking about this last night. I think he is the only one, but I couldn't remember who it was he had sent home.. Can't remember the Conway Sisters at all..

Maybe I'm completely wrong but weren't they the ones there was a lot of controversy with because Louis saved them over someone really good and everyone said it was just because they were Irish.
And then Simon had a choice between them and Chico I think it was, and he saved Chico, probably just because he realised they were having a detrimental effect on the show.
That's what I thought anyway, I may have remembered it wrongly though.

Who was Maria??
Maria Lawson was Sharons act in XF2 and the Conways were Cowells. Maria went out when Walsh chose The Conways to stay. Maria was regarded as one of the faves and it was the 1st real evidence that this show is about who the judges want and not about the best singers. It later emerged that Walsh had previous with the Conways who performed at a gathering for either Boyzone or Westlife. The criticism was bad and Walsh tried to redress it the following week by voting for them, but they survived, until Cowell voted them off the week after and the so called judges credibility was restored....not.

Yes he is, no other judge has ever voted out their own act except Simon, had he not though that week, Sharon Osbourne would have ripped the stage apart likely as she went hysterical the week they stayed over Maria, blaming Louis for all sorts of bias as to religious and Irish nonsense.
That was a crazy show.
Simon said he had an idea for them and that being realistic they were never going to be able to win X Factor.so voted them out.

Yeah they were, I liked them as well. Simon only did because of the whole controversy surrounding Louis saving them before, he just wanted them off the show as quick as possible.
I remember in their interview with Kate they said something like "We'd just like to thank Louis as well, he's really been our mentor throughout all of this" which didnt help
