View Full Version : Which clique was you in in school?

Tom

3 main choices, everyone fits into one of the three

If you don't fit into any you were probably an oblivious misfit thinking you were popular

Joe.

I'm not a geek at all, and there's not a popular group in my school either. Everyone just has their own groups really. I get on with most people there, but some I just hate and they hate me. So I'm probably a freak/misfit D:

Patrick

Hmmm,

Well...

I would say I am more smarter than most people in my year, just poorly for the fact I'm not a ******ing chav that goes out drinking every night, smoking, having sex and doing drugs constantly.

I mean I do that but not as much as most people, only I haven't touched drugs.

I'm pretty well liked by most people, actually like near enough every girl thinks I'm alright, Boys well like I don't really make an effort to talk to the majority of boys but the ones I do talk to like me.

So popular in that aspect, but geeky/nerdy because I'm much more well spoken than everyone else, I know alot about things other kids deem 'Uncool' and I don't like to play sports.

There's nothing wrong with being nerdy just aslong as you're not a ******ing stuck up bastard.

Although, I'd hate to be overly popular to the point were I look down my nose at people, I mean people do say I'm high maintenance in school and abit bitchy to most people but that's in a playful sort of way not like these divas you see on TV in High School thinking they own the place because their 'popular'.

Actually, thats probably true with me as well. I'm a bit of a geek with the way I find things like politics and history interesting, but I've never really been judged by that. My school's pretty friendly so there's no real division between those who are "geeks" and those who are considered popular, and I get along with everyone well enough. I'm at Sixth Form now though so that's a bit different and before there it was more segregated, I was still able to get along with the majority of people though.

I just know I'm not at the bottom of the pile but I'm pretty close :/

Our year's groups:
1) Popular/Chav/Sporty
2) Scene
3) Normal/Freaks (In a good way :) )
4) Geeks/Emo/Nerds
5) *******

I'm in group 3/4 :D

BB_Eye
12-10-2010, 10:09 PM
There wasn't so much a tribal clique divide in my school as much it just a pure pecking order/food chain.

If there were any groups, I'd say you had the prefects who never went anywhere without a gaggle of underlings and acolytes to back them up if there is any disagreement, the class clowns/attention *****s (bear in mind this was an all male school too), the mentally stunted chav scum, the high achieving geeks and lastly a heterogenous group of freaks/misfits.

I had no choice but to hang around with that last group as I was never popular, but even taking them into account, 99% of the my school's alumni I wouldn't piss on if they were on fire.

It'd be interesting to ask the schoolfriends of some of the people on this thread to see if other people perceived them as they saw themselves.

In fairness I dont think the 3 categories are very accurate.

I foyu're popular then you're obviously at the top of the social ladder but I would consider the other two options - freaks and geeks - to both be at the bottom, there isnt much option for middle ground. I chose popular out of elimination because I may be a bit geeky but I'm not labelled one and none of my friends are really, and I'm not a freak or a misfit. I'm not saying I'm the the kind of person everybody wants to hang around with, but I do get on with almost everyone, and have a wide range of people who I would consider friends, so popular it was

I was a bit geeky for the first year of high school, but I pretty much got on with everyone, then I made friends with some of the 'popular' crowd and became best friends with one of them so I hung around with the popular lot the most. I'd say I was all three at various points in my school career...

My best friend and I hung out with people who, by our final year of school, were considered freaks/misfits; when we were in the first couple of years of secondary school. Then we became friends with a group of guys and girls who I'd say were the middle ground, not the popular kids but not freaks. I've always been geeky I suppose, but as I went through school I'd say I became more popular. I was voted 6th Year's 6th Year which I'd say makes me pretty popular  but I was never invited to the wild parties etc during school, to be honest it's more now that I've left school I've gotten to know some of the popular kids a lot better. The poll's a bit rubbish Tom, where was the option for none of the above?!

I wouldn't say I belonged to one clique as I had friends from different things. I'd spend mornings with my best mate and some of my friends you'd probably call misfits in this poll and then at Dinners we'd both go to hang around with our other group of friends who were popular I guess but I knew them since Nursery.

I wouldn't classify myself as any since none of them really fit. I always was pretty much on friendly terms with my whole year so I'd probably class myself as a very unlikely popular person if I had to.

I was part of the freaks/misfits, but as a group we were fairly close with the lesser-chavvy popular people. We were all quite emo/alternative and often dealt with **** from the chavs.

At college/uni however, I'd consider myself in the popular groups. At College I was generally quite well liked amongst everyone, and now at Uni, on my course, there's like a divide? Half of us are loud/extroverted/social, and the other half are quiet and barely say a word and you can see that really clearly.

Just spotted this thread being viewed, thought I would have a look. I was between a geek and a misfit, I was taller than all the girls in my year, and most of the boys were shrimps so them too :D I was a bit of a swot, had friends but just a small group, mixed male and female, we kept to ourselves and wouldn't bother with anyone else. I remember being threatened by one of the popular girls because the boy she liked used to ride home alongside me on his bike and try to talk to me, haha.

Never noticed this thread before.

I was never part of a clique, I wasn't intelligent enough to be classed as a proper geek, I did like to read, I was quite misunderstood at school, I wasn't out of the closet until later in my school life, but that made me more popular to be fair, strange really.

I was basically the student who went and sat with his favourite teacher and drank tea and discussed social and academic events throughout the week and television (Big Brother, X Factor, Casualty)

I played (American) football so I hung around a lot of people in the 'popular' crowd, but I am also a pretty big geek

Replace football with B.Ball though ;)

Our Groups:

1) Popular Crew - massive party-goers, bitchy, loud-ass mother ****ers
2) Sporty Peeps - football/rugby dudes, hang with the Popular Crew
3) Social Butterflies - have their group but will talk to anybody
4) Girl Possy - small group of attractive seemingly really nice bunch of girls... get on well with Sporty Peeps and Social Butterflies
5) Social Misfits - those that dont fit 1-4, judged as 'a bit weird', some interaction with Girl Possy and Social Butterflies as you get to know them
6) Nerds/Boffs - great grades, most aiming to get into Cambridge/Oxford, over-work (imo) and get on well with Social Misfits
7) Misfits - several separate groups, not really freaks just rub people up the wrong way and have big obsessions... some friends with Social Misfits and Nerds/Boffs

I really thought about this LOL

Year 7-11 (no Girl Possy and the Sport Peeps were the Popular Crew) I was a Nerd/Boff (although never massively, label was strengthened because of my friends and social awkwardness) and now Im a Social Misfit
My grades arnt as good now though as the pressure is off, waaaa

It's all different now that I'm in Sixth Form. All of the popular kids that were total assholes have left and the ones that were nice have stayed, so all the social groups that used to be in my year are still there, but everyone flits in and out of each one so we all talk to each other now, rather than just the same set of people if that makes sense?

I.e most of the popular kids will bother to have a normal conversation with someone who's maybe considered a freak, just because. It wasn't really like that before.

I really like it anyhow. It doesn't feel so segregated.. well, apart from the fact that all the black people in my Sixth Form hang out in one room and all the whites and asians hang out in another. :L

Not A Geek as too lazy to study. Not in with the Popular crowd as too rebellious. Must be a freak..

None of these apply to me: I was a mixed category!!

Very sporty which made me popular on one hand, very studious which wasn't so popular, quiet kid overall but had my moments - managed to get suspended for smoking which catapulted me to being regarded as the coolest kid in school. Bizarrely enough: my father never quite saw it that way!

I was a bit of an outside I suppose never really took as much part as I'd have liked. I had a much nicer time doing A-levels though.

I always thought cliques were for people who didn't have the confidence individually to function without a like-minded crowd round them, backing them up. I'm still of the same opinion.

Total Misfit/Freak in Year 7, and since Year 8 it's been more popular. People knew who I was since Year 8 but I was very hated, it wasn't until last year I started being like, good popular idk? The majority of my year like me now, whereas they didn't until end of Year 9/start of Year 10. I haven't changed myself drastically either, I just think I get to know everyone better.
