I'm not deaf, when a rap is good, I admit, when a singer sings well, I admit, but this little peepsquick has nothing going on. Her singing doesn't make sense and most of the time I can't tell if she's talking, singing or rapping.

Based on last night performance I wouldn't mind Katie staying and Cher blasting off.

Your missing the whole thing with Cher's style....you have different class of rapper....some are A-class rappers some are B-rap and then you have Cher who is C-rap. Its simples. :devil:

My problem is not her rapping.

I get her look, the image, I see the sort of ferocious kitten thing and I even get the sort of punchy singing style.
I get all this and I really have no problem with this and like it enough,
HOWEVER,
She is NOT a good singer. Not at all. I cannot imagine how she gets these knockout comments and praises about her singing?
She can barely breath!
All i hear is a weak diaphragm trying (not quite successfully) to push out the full words. She 'dies off' at the end of verses.

Again, I realize there is meant to be a sort of 'talking' quality to her singing style (some singing keeners here may know the jargon). I'm not talking about what I realize is supposed to be there,
no,
i mean she can't do that much. her voice quality is not good but she can't even push anything through a whole song.

Sorry to say it because I have nothing against her and I suppose she is a great little pop-star for music videos and studio creations,
but,
she is NOT a good live singer and is maybe one of the most over-rated.

*her and Storm Lee are the two getting praised for singing far far too much and seriously she is no better than him... or I should say just as bad as him.

No joking I think Wagner might be a better singer than Cher.

I think part of her problem is trying to achieve the highs she did in her audition, and I think the first minute of this youtube video shows her personality; she seems charming and her attitude, I feel is just a stage act.

Brilliant comments from you jedward,so many from others too on here but this one really made me laugh, come to thinnk of it, its exactly how she looks when singing, Great start to my day reading this one.

She is doing the virtual same routines every week now, singing very average, a bit of really poor rapping and a strut that as you point out makes her look like she's constipated.
She is forgettable and also extremely arrogant.smugly so. Despite the little girl voice she puts on.

I think she has a lot of kids as fans, teenie girls and prepubesent lads,I really can't see serious music fans would like her ,bet if you did a poll and people were honest,her fans would mainly be the teens,they like 'attitude' so will follow it:hugesmile:

Totally agree, although she's not the best 'voice' I have tried to see her as the 'very current and now' performer Simon and Cheryl are telling us she is and I just can't see that she has anything to offer - she actually can't sing and we can't ignore that basic requirement in a singing contest. She had so much help from the backing singers to try and disguise that on Saturday but the fact you still heard her lack of abilities just showed how actually bad she is. Cheryl criticised another act (sorry can't remember who it was) for not standing there and singing, but relying on gimmick then out came Cher with that spectacle - I wish these judges would decide what they wanted and be consistant instead of changing their views to suit. And who was the hero!!!!!
Its amazing she didn't end up in the bottom three

Okay yeah.. so its not just me heh. I was confused because the judges seem to be discussing her 'as if' we all heard how great a little singer she was,
and,
I even remember the one (coach?) saying to her behind the stage "Just focus on your dancing". As if her voice was such a 'given' that dancing was the only weak spot to watch.
Instead I saw someone well focused on power walking and bouncing the dance steps but seems to be 'talk exhaling' in some really sad half-effort to 'sing'.

Oh well I forget she is just a teenager. I'm amazed any teenager can do that well,
but,
I think judges have to be honest and not inflate her singing talent to us in hopes of maxing up her soon-to-be studio engineered pop singles.

Yes - she is perfect for a studio creation. I just wish the judges could stop pretending she is good live on stage heh

The problem is, the judges are telling her time and time again how good she is, even when she is not. So she gets more arrogant with every performance, thus alienates the audience even more and it will CRUSH her when she is voted off, which I believe will happen. Her fail rapping cant carry her everyweek, and her singing voice is average at best.

I think she believes she will win. But I really cant see it happening.
