I was wondering this too before, and you can, if you open up the invitation, on the red bar in the top right hand corner, it says decline invitation

Just decline them.

Click on the invitation, then the social group and then click decline (bottom of the screen) :)

There's no need to delete them really, if you don't wanna join then just decline the invitation.
