I have a fear of dolls.. mainly the ones with porcelain faces.
Also clowns.. again, the porcelain ornamental ones are worse.
I realise none of these things can harm me, but I can't shake the fear. I won't have them in my house and I turn away when they are on the TV.
What are your odd fears?
This guy scares the **** out of me

There was a guy on Radio 1.. someone from N-Dubz if I recall.. and he is terrified of cotton buds..
He said it's their texture. Is that the same for you Tom.. ?
Smithy, I'm not afraid of birds, unless they fly at me.. when they do that, I freak out, but I think that's probably a normal reaction.

cotton buds don't bother me, its just cotton wool itself but yeah its the texture

Wouldn't say it's a phobia but I've always been a bit freaked by the whole Micky Mouse/Disney land/clown/dressed up character people thing. When I was a kid I was terrified of the Honey Monster :joker:

I love bagpuss. I have a stuffed bagpuss in my room.
Then again, there wasn't a great deal of choice when it came to kids TV in the 70s. :P

Did he torment you with it Kerry? That's what my brother would have done.
Shaun, I have a slight fear of heights too. It's more physical though.. I get wobbly legs, and feel sick, but not so much scared, if that makes sense.

Oh and these days live fish (as far as weird ones go - I have others but they are slightly more average like heights). I once went fishing and caught some perch and everytime I caught one I'd run off screaming :joker:
Oddly I'm getting another aquarium this week. I think it's just bigger fish :joker:

I'm a bit scared of computers and electronic things, like I've always had some subconscious feeling that they're suddenly gonna do something rebellious :p Silly I know.
I'm also scared of daddy long legs and stuff, which most people aren't nowadays. I dunno why though, because they're bloody terrifying when you've got one coming towards your face

What are your odd fears?
My sister is exactly the same as you..clowns and dolls terrify her. It's not that she finds them a bit creepy,I've actually seen her crying and shaking over them!
She also has a phobia of tinfoil which is a bit of a strange one..
My only strange one is fish... I can't bear them and will not go in the sea because of the little ****ers!
I'm also scared of fireman which stems from my irrational fear of fire, which isn't really that strange :)
Dolls seriously creep me out. Just me? :joker:

I don't know how to explain it but big things? Things like statues, sculptures, stuffed animals. If it's big and some kind of animal or creature I'll be scared of it. Even if it's something that's not intimidating (like a huge teddy bear for example) I'd be very weary of it because of the size. I remember when I went to Florida when I was little, it was completely traumatic as they have a lot of big structures (worst of all was a giant Godzilla thing in front of a Planet Hollywood).
I probably sound like a freak but it's hard to explain.
I'm not keen on clowns either, not really scared but kinda put off them due to a traumatic incident.

Yes, I really hate it. It's the only real phobia of an object I have.
Other phobias I have are getting buried or burnt alive, or someone i'm really close to dying, which I know will happen someday.
I found another one today I forgot all about...... egg fried rice

OH this is a weird one. Whenever I used to play computer games and the console/game would have a glitch and freeze, or throw Mario/whatever into this weird open space, I would get scared.
It's absolutely ridiculous, but I'd have to turn off the console if this happened. Oh and the giant eel-thing in Super Mario 64 (the underwater level), that scares the bejebus out of me.
lily.

The vision of you hitting the power button and jumping back from the console in horror makes me laugh.

Trains and train tracks. Especially getting on one. That gap between the train and the platform *shudders*
Stacey.
22-10-2010, 12:14 AM

Canals are the worst. You practically have to walk on the thing for a stroll along the path and you never quite know if it's a foot deep or 30.....
Ooooooh and canal locks!!!!!! Hate 'em!!! I've been known to actually climb walls rather than walk by one :joker:

Oh, I sometimes fear the sea. But I wouldn't say that's that weird. It can be hugely powerful.
No, that's not weird. I find the sea incredibly scary. I can't explain why.. the vastness maybe? Like when out on the ocean in a boat and you can't even see land.. it's kind of unnerving. I don't even go in the sea...
Anyway, I can't explain exactly what I find scary about it.. but I know exactly where you're coming from.
