I think it would be really healthy and amazing for the forum to have a section for members who are 16 and over to be able to have a sort of "no rules" forum. Obviously if stuff went too far, mods would step in.

This idea was discussed before, wasn't it?

For access to be granted, members should (obviously be 16, but) have a certain amount of posts and have been a member for a long amount of time. If they'd like access, they could be placed in a specific group which can see the forum.

Well technically, you couldnt really. But if they SAY they are 18 then the rules could be much more relaxed, as it would not be the sites fault if they came across something unsuitable. Sort of the way that porn sites just make you click something saying 'i am over 18'

Nah. It is not our fault if kids pretend to be older. As I said, porn sites dont have legal problems...and many of them are just click and enter.

No because technically the forum would be saying "Tell the truth about your age" and if you lie, it's YOUR fault - it's on YOUR head. The forum took action to prevent you from seeing anything you shouldn't, asked for your age and yeah.

It would be an adult section ONLY FOR ADULTS. If a kid lies, then it's their fault. Mark/James would have put the procedures in place to make sure this wouldn't happen (which would be to look at their profile ages and give them access. Plus if they have a certain amount of posts and time since being registered.)

So long as the content isnt illegal for example kiddie or animal porn then site staff only have to post warnings about age related content. Its up to the parent to ensure safety of their child while allowing them to surf.

I personally don't see the point in splitting the forum. In my view, it's down to the parents to make sure kids don't read unsuitable stuff online, and since most of the kids on this site seem to have no restrictions on their computers, they'll see a hell of a lot worse than some bad language and innuendo on here.

So I say what I want, where I want. I'm not responsible for the kids who read it. I'm only responsible for my kids, and they aren't members here.

I agree with you arista. I see no point in an 'adult' area on a telly forum. There are plenty of 'adult' forums out there where you can discuss anything.

To be honest, I think the people who support this idea are just trying to exclude the kids to wind them up.

The laughable thing is, some of the people who want this were under 18 when I joined here 5 years ago. I'm thinking they would have been against it then.
