Contestants get progressively more and more cocky as the weeks go by. Anyone else noticed that, and who do you think is most guilty of it?

There's a few that have remained constant but there's defo others who let it go to their heads big time.

Not sure about that. Think a few will get unbearable as the weeks progress. Always happens.

ALEXANDRA ******ING BURKE.

That bastard thought she was Beyonce by the time it got to Week 5.
Still can't stand that smug woman, she literally thinks she's one of the best singers the country has seen.

Totally irrelevant. No need to compare us to them.; that has nothing to do with what we're discussing. There's confidence and then there's arrogance or cockiness.

Yeah, I agree with that. There's a huge difference between cockiness and confidence. Matt and Rebecca are growing in confidence but without being cocky... humble in fact

The thing is,

X Factor 2008 had the best contestants ever.
It was the last year the show a was about talent and none of these wacky contestants like Wagner [As much as I adore him] and Jedward.

I mean anyone from X Factor 5 could of won, and a few of them were better than Alexandra, it's a shame she won :(

She's got a belter of a voice, no? She actually gives me the shivers, she's so good. I agree, she's not a streotypical popstar, but as far as being able to sing, the woman's got it.

I can see her in Chicago... can't remember the characters name.. (anyone help?) I think she'ss have a great career after this.. maybe not in the pop charts (which, lets face it, are pretty **** anyway) but she'll do well :)

No. I respect her powerful voice but when she said tonight that she just wants to do the standard well known numbers it just made me realise that she has nothing new to bring to music.

She'll be happy just to do cover versions forever more. I dont think the winner should have such a limited outlook. She has no musical ambition artistically or performance wise. Just wants to belt out the classics to a bigger audience and make more money for it.

And she doesnt have any Xfactor about her. Her big voice is her very obvious asset.

I can honestly see where you're coming from but I still think she could make money and sell records. Look at Susan Boyle, and she doesn't have half the character that Mary has.

Cher IS getting cocky. But there is a huge difference between cockiness and confidence.

Last year people said Danyl was cocky...I dont think he was at all. He was confident...and yeah he had a bit of an attitude WHEN ON STAGE, but that was it. Neither did I think Alexandra was cocky.

With Cher is is constant better than you attitude.

Mind you, she seemed to be pretty much the same in her first audition. Little miss spoilt princess :bored:

this

I can't stand Alex Burke, not once in the whole series did anyone dare criticise her!!! not once!!! she had a free ride all the way through and had them all well manipulated right from day one as if butter wouldn't melt in her mouth...TreyC is another one like her, although I prefer TreyC to Alex.

Cher is the cockiest x factor contestant this year, she is such a chav, you can tell she is rougher than a dogs arse when she talks, can't string an intelligent sentence together.

She was crap last night btw!

Awaiting howls of outrage now from those who rate her. Lol.

Z
24-10-2010, 01:13 PM
I actually think Cher is fairly intelligent, I don't consider her to be a chav; my issue is with her attitude to everyone but Cheryl on the show. She clearly only listens to what Cheryl has to say to/about her, she disregards the other judges (for example the way she responded to Dannii last night) and clearly isn't friendly with any of the other girls, perhaps none of the other contestants at all, I think she has a very bad attitude and won't make it far in the music business if she keeps that attitude up.

Jords

I was just glad there were so many other people onstage and that the backing was very loud,I think it was an attempt to brainwash the viewers as to it being a great show without having Cher right in your face.

Totally agree with you, most of us are hearing something completely different to the judges.
Like you I don't think her voice has anything special at all. I would go further and say she isn't anything special either.

Well for the production number it was, she hardly moved really, she always looks awkward too in her movements.

Frankly, she was hard to hear at all, She certainly was for me one of the 3 worst last night, that's being generous, Katie upped her game, Cher stood still, overhyped as Niamhxo and many others say she is too.

Lady Gaga is feisty; but in interviews is very humble. It's entirely possible to have a feisty stage persona and be a normal, down to earth human being off it. Cher is just arrogant.

Yeah but when I see her being humble and normal it puts me off tbh. Its like the Wizard of Oz effect of pulling back the curtain.

I prefer the golden days of Hollywood when stars seemed mysterious and untouchable. And glamorous, of course.

These days they all have to be so drab and ordinary.

I have to disagree with people saying Alexandra:shocked:, I didn't like her on the show but I liked her a year after it ended:laugh:, though she was fake at first, however I began to like her personality she seems nice and fun:).

I like Cher and Danyl, don't see them as arrogant but they are confident.. is it a crime?, if some not keen on that then fair enough criticise till your hearts content when the producers will be loving people getting wound up as the purpose some particular contestants serve that were point into the final 12 for e.g. to get people talking and divide opinions, cause controversy and draw more people in for the ratings;).
