I looked around the forum in the obvious places but couldn't find a thread so I thought I'd post it here. I thought it was a fascinating interview; at first I was a bit puzzled as to how Cheryl Cole deserved a "life story" interview, but rapidly realised they had a lot to talk about in so little time. The entire Girls Aloud period was glossed over very quickly, and I thought it was very telling that all of the girls bar Nadine appeared in the interview to discuss Cheryl. It's clear that Nadine wants nothing to do with Girls Aloud and is determined to make a solo career happen for herself; which I think is ridiculous, she needs that band as much that band needs her.

What did you all think of Cheryl after watching the show? Did it reinforce your like/dislike of her, or change your perception of her?

Ive always liked Cheryl, I just find it very off-putting when somebody gets overrated and although I dont dislike that person because of it, I go very meh on them and that.

I still think shes a poor judge on TXF, but its coming quite clear shes a very good mentor so I give Cheryl her dues. :)

She seems a lovely girl, very attractive (if a bit skinny) and up for a laugh and some 'normality' in her live, the interview was quite touching and made me feel quite sorry for her.

Actually I didnt watch it I was commenting on the fact she did the interview and the timing of it with her album release not the content of the interview. Thats the manipulation I was referring to. Yes she leads a very good life, but that does not mean she cannot get hurt and go through upsetting things that 'normal' people can go through.

Nobody is happy going through a divorce when they believed they were in a good relationship, why should Cheryl be an exception? You'd feel sorry if it was your favourite celebrity. The assault thing was over 7 years ago. She was barely out of her teens and a bit drunk.

I don't think its fair to keep holding that against her. She did her community service and the woman got £500 comp.

Well it all goes back to the coldness I feel from her. All those are things that would make someone upset but from her I just sense PR. It will always be a mystery how she got malaria just in time to avoid being with competition Nicole but got healed just in time for judges house. Her weight hadn't changed much, nothing indicated she had just been ill. I would've guessed coming back from a potentially fatal disease would change your appearance somewhat.:conf:

I'm not desperate for anything! If someone is deservedly as successful as Cheryl is I have no problem. But in my opinion I see no reasons why I should bow down and kiss her ass like the papers want the nations to. I have said many other reasons why I am not warming to her, and unfortunately I will always remember that incident. It seem a lot of people haven't actually watched the program :tongue: which is fair enough if you're not a fan; why would you bother to watch her for an hour? I hadn't really made my mind up about her as a whole, that's why I watched it. I like her, I really do; I think it was a very heart-felt interview and that Piers Morgan managed to tackle a lot of the questions that people wanted to know about. I'm a bit disappointed he didn't really talk about Girls Aloud's career or their future, and the glaring lack of Nadine Coyle stuck out like a sore thumb. I think it would have been nice if Piers had brought up Amogbokpa-gate with Cheryl so she could have a final say on the matter and close that chapter of her life because it keeps cropping up to haunt her whenever she puts a foot wrong.

As for people saying she was crying throughout the whole thing; I actually thought she was doing her best to not break down in tears, she did get very teary eyed at various points but there was clearly an effort on Cheryl's behalf to not start crying, and she did make some jokes and tried to keep it light hearted where possible. I've decided that I do like her after all, she's a very down to earth celebrity and I hope she gets some privacy to move on with her personal life now.

I'm not Cheryl's biggest fan (think she has no talent apart from being a good dancer, and she's a crap judge on X Factor) but I did watch the programme and I couldn't help but feel a bit sorry for her. It doesn't matter if you have money or not, she's had a ****ty year by anyone's standards and you could tell her tears were genuine, not like Katie Price when she flapped her hands about trying desperately to look upset when in fact she was completely dry eyed and as cold as a wet fish. But she was very "controlled" in her interview. I would not say she is a totally honest and open person lol. However the interview has made her more into "The Nation's Sweetheart" but.. for how long?

Anyway I hope the interview with Piers is the last we hear from her about love cheat "Ashley Cole". That was just a chapter in her life that she needed to bury under the hatchet.

Probably not, but it gets brought up all the time and she's never really addressed it in the media before (as far as I'm aware) and it seemed like the right sort of interview to say what she needed to say and then never talk about it again.
