They did a decent enough job with the remake though. Wasn't absolutely horrendous like Nightmare on Elm STreet. At least it was well made anyway.

They did a really good job on it,and it was noticable they left one particular part out, lol, but having said that the new one always leaves me feeling quite sad as this sort of thing can happen and is not quite make believe.

That's interesting because alot of the scariest ones for me weren't real horrors if you know what I mean? Things like Seven, Manhunter and the like always scared me just as much, if not more than traditional ghost stories because of the very fact that people like that do exist. Always gives me the shivers, and not in a good way.

I know what you mean,it's not always the goriest that are the scariest,it's the ones that you know COULD be real and people like that are amongst us,that's scary in itself.

I hear The Thing is having a remake, ready for a 2011 release... *sigh*

I heard that too about The Thing remake, I'm not too keen on remakes I feel as if they ruin them a lot of the time.

Well the ironic thing is Carpenter's The Thing is kind of a remake itself. It's loosely based on the 50s sci fi The Thing from Another World.

I just don't feel the new remake will add anything extra. The 80s version still feels fairly fresh even 30 years on - it doesn't at all feel dated when I watch it.
