I feel really sorry for anyone who has gone through this (I speak as one who has had 4 miscarriages, one between my two sons, and three after). I lost all my babies before 13 weeks which was devastating enough, but to lose a baby at 6 months is horrendous, just a few more weeks and the baby would have been viable. So sad.

Yeah, any loss of a baby must be hard but I think at 20 weeks must be pretty horific. Another friend of mine was told her baby had died when she went for her 19 week scan.. I actually don't think she's really gotten over it to be honest.
I'm sorry you too had so much heartache to cope with Angus

Yeah, Rhino, they certainly are! The baby is just coming on leaps and bounds now! It's amazing really :)

I also had a miscarrage at 14 weeks.although in the early stages it is still devastating so to lose one at 6 mths and have to give birth is truly horrendous,my heart goes out to anyone who suffers this.

:( sorry about that Kazanne
And yeah it's pretty grim the thought of losing a fully developed baby that you will have felt moving etc.
But on a positive note, I am in awe of what can be done for very prematurely born babies nowadays. Babies born not much longer than half way through the 40 weeks, who can't breath by themselves, feed or anything are surviving more and more now. It's amazing and I have so much respect to the professionals who allow this to be the case..
Your friend's been through so much, I'm glad to hear she finally got the babies she's always wanted! I've not really had much interaction with any children or expectant mothers so I couldn't even begin to imagine the heartbreak that a woman must feel to find out that she's miscarried...

I think it happens to a lot of women and yes it is wonderful what can be done for premature babies today.

My mum had 2 miscarriages before she had me, and another before she had my younger brother - and I know it devastated her - so hats off to her bravery :)

Yeah, thanks. Even after all that though, she is still one of the funniest people I know. She's come through it with her sense of humour firmly intact and is in general a good person. So happy for her :)

My cousin has been through two miscarriages and has had to resign herself to the idea that she might not be able to have children. I think that represents a lot of peoples' worst fears. I'm just pleased that infant mortality isn't the sort of common, everyday occurance it used to be before the all the advances that were made in healthcare.
That made enlightening reading. I never figured so many women had to deal with miscarriages.
