Sounds like they're kinda disregarding the first film and following Silent Hill 3's story!
Konami's first crack at a Silent Hill film arrived in April 2006, and while it received a critical drubbing, its opening box office haul of $20 million wasn't too shabby. By the end of that year, director Christophe Gans and writer Roger Avary had indicated that a sequel would shortly follow, with Sandman graphic novel scribe Neil Gaiman also attached to the project. However, following that initial since then, little has been heard about the film.
Some four years on, it would appear as if the Silent Hill sequel remains in development. Reporting from the American Film Market conference, Fangoria relays that the film has been given an official title, Silent Hill: Revelation, and will be filmed in 3D. It is currently in preproduction at Lionsgate, Konami, and Davis Films, with Samuel Hadida and Don Carmody filling producer roles.
Heather Mason will star in Silent Hill: Revelation.
Gans and Avary have also apparently been replaced as director and writer. (Notably, Avary was arrested in 2008 related to a fatal car wreck.) the latter likely due to his 2008 vehicular manslaughter charge, for which he served time. Instead, Lionsgate and Konami have reportedly tapped Michael J. Bassett to write and direct. Bassett's previous directorial credits include 2002's World War I-set horror film Deathwatch and Robert E. Howard's action antihero Solomon Kane.
Fangoria also offered the first plot description for Revelation, one that indicates the film will follow the course of 2003's Silent Hill 3.
"For years, Heather Mason and her father have been on the run, always one step ahead of dangerous forces that she doesn't fully understand," the synopsis reads. "Now on the eve of her 18th birthday, plagued by terrifying nightmares and the disappearance of her father, Heather discovers she's not who she thinks she is. The revelation leads her deeper into a demonic world that threatens to trap her in Silent Hill forever."

Homecoming is something of a black sheep to the series, as it was made by Americans, not by Japanise (SH1-4) or British (0rigins, Shattered Memories) saying that, the story is very good and its an enjoyable game

They should have based it on the second Silent Hill 2 game; although, I think Silent Hill 4 could work well as a movie, even if it's not the best Silent Hill.

SH3 could be adapted to Silent Hill Movie though, that's if this isnt a reboot
Anywho:
Fresh off their $270M+ box office sensation Resident Evil: Afterlife 3D, producers Samuel Hadida and Don Carmody have re-teamed to create Silent Hill: Revelation 3D, which is currently in pre-production. Silent Hill: Revelation 3D will also reunite Davis Films producer Hadida with Michael J. Bassett (Deathwatch, Solomon Kane), who will direct the 3D film on location this winter in the Toronto area. International sales are being handled by Lionsgate at the upcoming AFM.
Silent Hill: Revelation 3D, based on the acclaimed survival horror videogame franchise by KONAMI , is a sequel to Hadida and Carmody’s earlier collaboration, Christophe Gans’ Silent Hill. For years, Heather Mason and her father have been on the run, always one step ahead of dangerous forces that she doesn’t fully understand. Now on the eve of her 18th birthday, plagued by terrifying nightmares and the disappearance of her father, Heather discovers she's not who she thinks she is. The revelation leads her deeper into a demonic world that threatens to trap her in Silent Hill forever.
Hadida said: “We have high expectations for this continuation of the franchise with our reunited Silent Hill production team. Michael was our natural choice to write and direct. He understands the genre, is passionate about the Silent Hill franchise, and will bring his considerable action picture skills to a fresh and thrilling insight of the Silent Hill 3D world.”
Hadida noted further, “We are especially excited about our renewed collaboration with KONAMI. KONAMI’S sustained success with the seven video games published to date is unique testament to the ongoing appeal of this property”.
Carmody added: “Resident Evil: Afterlife 3D, Paranormal Activity 2, and Saw 3D show that global audiences have a continued thirst for the horror action genre. Silent Hill, like Resident Evil before it, is a beloved videogame, now becomes a successful film franchise that both encompasses and transcends the game world.”
“We are pleased to partner with Samuel and Don again to bring a new Silent Hill experience to the silver screen.” Said Careen Yapp, Vice President of KONAMI . Just as the franchise has evolved, we’re confident Silent Hill Revelation 3D will bring a new Silent Hill story that is both frightening and engaging. Their sensitivity to our loyal, avid, global community of fans will make for an amazing 3D experience!”
Hadida and Carmody most recently produced Resident Evil: Afterlife 3D starring Milla Jovovich, Ali Larter, and Wentworth Miller. Past collaborations include Resident Evil: Apocalypse.
Robert E. Howard’s Solomon Kane marked screenwriter and director Michael J. Bassett’s last feature film. He made his debut with Deathwatch, an atmospheric horror movie set in the trenches of World War I which starred Jamie Bell and Andy Serkis.

I love the first movie! It is one of my fave horrors.
I never got around to playing the games yet. I went in last year to get one for the wii, but the store didn't have any so I got a resident evil one instead, and I only played that once because it's a bit jumpy.

From MJB the writer/director
Happy New Year to you all.
Thought I’d just throw a new page up just to stop the talkbacks getting so cluttered.
The new year brings positive developments but nothing I can announce or really talk about yet. I’ve moved back to Toronto for the foreseeable future and we’ve got a production office up and running, so I’m pretty confident that this movie is going to get made. The script is in rocking good shape but there are always improvements and adjustments to be made, so I fully expect it to be a moveable feast all the way through to, well, basically delivery. To my mind editing is really the final draft of the screenplay so, as the writer as well as director, I keep that in mind as we go along. I’ve thrown down some huge challenges for the team and expect them to rise to every one.
No casting to announce yet. But I have to say here, please don’t post asking to be in the movie. I’m just not going to cast you unless you’ve got some kind of representation and experience. If that means I’m going to miss out on someone who would be genius and perfect then I’ll take that hit. Sorry.
So the team is pretty much in place. There are still some exciting creative choices to be made as well as hard decisions on how to deliver an extraordinary movie on the resources I’ve been given but that’s the job and I love every moment of it.
Scarlett.

Just a week until principal photography starts. Every day is a relentless stream of meetings, decisions and final choices. Leading actors are now on the ground and it’s pretty fabulous to be able to finally talk through character and performance in detail. The minutia of hair and makeup are being poured over. Monsters are slowly being finished and are looking amazing. Camera tests are well underway and the art department is working overtime to get everything ready. In short we’re all wishing there were more hours in the day but everyone seems to be giving it everything they’ve got.

It made perfect sense - the people of who burnt Alessa were safe when the otherworld came as long as they were in the church, Alessa made a pact with a dark spirit after she had been burned, the demon wanted to punish the people who burnt Alessa, but couldn't, so she used Rose as a vessel, when Rose was stabbed, the demon escaped into the church and Alessa got her bloody revenge, Alessa remerged with Cheryl and then Rose and Cheryl went back home, but they were trapped in the foggy world. :)
Though I think the original suffered bad writer syndrome, but he's been replaced by Michael J Bassett who will be directing and writing.

Well, this is unexpected! Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix) and Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange) will be joining the cast of Silent Hill: Revelation. The two new additions will be playing the Wolf family. Carrie-Anne Moss will be playing the infamous Claudia Wolf, and Malcom McDowell her father, Leonard Wolf.
We also have a new pic of Adelaide Clemens as Heather and Kit Harrington as Vincent. They look as surprised as we are! Hit the jump for the press release.
CARRIE-ANNE MOSS AND MALCOLM MCDOWELL JOIN CAST OF SILENT HILL: REVELATION 3D
LENSING UNDERWAY IN TORONTO ON MICHAEL J. BASSETT-DIRECTED PIC
TORONTO – April 6, 2011: The newest residents of Michael J. Bassett’s world of Silent Hill: Revelation 3D are Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix Trilogy, Memento, Unthinkable, Chocolat) who will play “Claudia Wolf” and Malcolm McDowell (Easy A, Entourage, A Clockwork Orange) as “Leonard Wolf.” Silent Hill: Revelation 3D is currently lensing in Toronto and produced by Samuel Hadida and Don Carmody.
Moss and McDowell join rising star Adelaide Clemens (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Vampire, Camilla Dickinson, Wasted on the Young, Mad Max: Fury Road); Kit Harington (HBO’s upcoming series Game of Thrones); and returning Silent Hill residents Radha Mitchell (The Crazies, Surrogates); Sean Bean (Game of Thrones, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, Lord of the Rings), and Deborah Kara Unger (Shake Hands with the Devil, 88 Minutes).
Hadida said: “Carrie has displayed her enormous talent across all genres – from The Matrix Trilogy to Memento – and we are delighted for her to join the world of Silent Hill. She will certainly bring a new level of excitement to fans of the videogame franchise.”
McDowell will pay tribute to Stanley Kubrick at the 2011 Festival de Cannes this May, by screening seven of the famed director’s films in fully restored condition.
Director Michael J. Bassett said: “Malcolm is quite simply an icon of modern cinema and I’ve been a fan since I was a teenager when I managed to see A Clockwork Orange. He has an amazing ability to bring new and unexpected dimensions to his characters and I know he will bring something unique and disturbing to Silent Hill.”
Hadida and Carmody most recently produced Resident Evil: Afterlife 3D starring Milla Jovovich, Ali Larter, and Wentworth Miller. Past collaborations include Resident Evil: Apocalypse and the earlier Silent Hill.
Lionsgate is handling international sales on Silent Hill: Revelation 3D which is based on the acclaimed survival horror videogame franchise by KONAMI and is the sequel to Hadida and Carmody’s earlier Silent Hill directed by Christophe Gans. On Game of Thrones
When HBO premieres its highly anticipated fantasy series “Game of Thrones” this Sunday, the epic drama won’t just be filled with a host of complex characters, but a cast of fresh new faces to play them. And one of the most intriguing is AccessHollywood.com’s newest Rising Star, British actor Kit Harington.
Raven-haired, and with deep, soulful brown eyes, Kit joins the series as Jon Snow, the conflicted and ambitious illegitimate son of Sean Bean’s character, Ned Stark, a young man who early in the drama seizes a dangerous opportunity that leads him down a dark and haunting path.
It’s a hefty role, fraught with contradiction stemming from Jon’s unusual pedigree. While he’s a son of Ned — the King of the North, he lacks the full-blooded title granted to his half-brothers and sisters, and no one is about to let him forget it.
“I did spend a long time thinking about it,” Kit told Access of figuring out where Jon — who is commonly referred to as “the bastard” — is coming from. “With him, it was kind of like a complex emotional turmoil that he’s got going on, but you’ve got an instant sort of key into the character there – he doesn’t know who his mother is; his stepmother hates him; he gets on with his brothers and sisters. He’s loyal to the family, but he doesn’t know how to go about dealing with this huge ambition that he has.”
While he spent a great deal of time thinking about Jon Snow, Kit spent far less time auditioning to earn the coveted role, securing it after just three auditions. It’s a surprisingly small number considering how weighty the part is, and most especially because, prior to “Game of Thrones,” Kit hadn’t been on television or in film. His one major credit — the Royal National Theatre play, “War Horse.”
“What I do remember from getting the audition is just going, ‘Right! I really want this one,’ and luckily for me it was three auditions and I got it and I was over the moon,” he said.
Over the moon and quickly to the bookstore, where Kit picked up George R.R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” books, which the series is based on.
“When I got it, I read the books and then I went, ‘Oh, OK… This is a really cool story line. He’s got his own thing. He goes off and it’s pretty epic, and he’s a great character,’” Kit said. “That’s more what struck me when I got the part. Not really the size element of it, more the amount of stuff he’s got riding on him.”
Kit’s love of complex characters stems from his childhood. After spending his first 11 years in London, the family moved up to Worcester, in the English Midlands, where his mother Deborah, a playwright, would often take the family to Royal Shakespeare Company productions put on in nearby Stratford-Upon-Avon.
“That’s probably where it started for me I guess, just getting to see lots of theater,” he said.
“They’re great parents,” he added of his folks. “When I got into acting, [and I] said, ‘Right! I want to go to drama school,’ both parents were very supportive. [They] said, ‘OK… it’s a hard profession, but we’ll support you.’”
Another place Kit is feeling gratitude toward is the built-in “Game of Thrones” fan base that has been following with glee the leap from page to the small screen, all the while quickly becoming fans of the actors involved.
“I suppose it has, yeah,” Kit said when asked whether his life has changed thanks to the fan community. “I think it has, I’d be lying to say it hasn’t… Going on the Internet, you suddenly find these books do have a huge fan base and they do wanna know all about you. It’s nice actually, it’s a really great feeling.”
On Silent Hill and Sean Bean
Also a nice feeling is trying something new. Since he wrapped up Season 1 of “Game of Thrones,” Kit scored his first feature film – “Silent Hill 3-D,” which is currently shooting in Canada and pits him opposite his “Thrones” father, Sean Bean.
“It’s strange, the first few things I’ve done, I’ve done with Sean, but it’s good. I get on with him quite well,” Kit said. “He’s a really nice guy.”
While the young actor can’t reveal much about his character in the horror franchise, he has been enjoying the new experience.
“I’m not sure what I can tell you about that. I’m in it… I’m a good size part in it,” he laughed. “It’s exciting to be doing something different like that again. I’ve done fantasy and now this is horror… But yeah, it’s fun, lots of monsters and scary bits.”
“Game of Thrones” premieres Sunday at 9 PM on HBO.

You guys are giving me **** for not posting? Don’t you know I’m shooting a movie right now? :)
Anyway, just a very quick post to say it’s all going pretty well. It continues to be a struggle to physically make the movie but the team is holding strong and I think you’re going to really dig some of the images we’re getting. Adelaide continues to impress as Heather. She’s so focussed on character and performance, it really brings greater depth to the whole show.
Last week we had Malcolm McDowell in for a little while to play Leonard Wolf. Clearly when we meet him he’s not in his monstrous form but your going to get a kick out of why he’s there and what he does. It was a huge thrill getting Malcolm on the show. He regaled us with fabulous stories and was a treat to work with. Days like those, no matter how long and intense, are always memorable.
Sean Bean is back for the rest of his work. Having a good time working with him. He’s a typically down to earth and wryly humourous northerner. A straight talker and great technical film actor too. I really enjoyed the first episode of ‘Game of Thrones’ and it’s fab to see Kit Harington and Sean on screen together in that. Also pleased it’s got picked up for a second season – I’d love to direct an episode.
On another note, I see that there are various photos leaked from the production over the internet. That’s the problem with location shooting – there’s just no way of keeping things secret. I’m not going to confirm or deny anything that you may have surmised from what you think they reveal but I think they mostly made the production look quite good.
No developments on music yet, so nothing to share on that front.
Lots more to say but I’m tired now and if I keep typing I’ll just give something away that’s gonna piss the producers off.
And in other good news… I got ringside seats for the UFC fight in Toronto next weekend. Yay!
And finally, I just wanted to make a comment about the tone of some of the comments in the talkback section here. I’m not very keen on this forum becoming a place for bitchiness and snarky comments to other posters. At the moment I let every comment go through but I’m getting a growing sense of unpleasantness from one or two posters. Please stay friendly. If people disagree with each other here, so be it but if you want to start an argument, then try a different forum where things are designed to be a little more lively. Thanks.
Glad Sean Bean's back filming, it means more scenes of Harry Mason :3

Looks as if the witch burners are going to be replaced with the real cult from the games, could this be the most closest a game movie has ever been to the source material? The proof is that little circle...it's the Order's logo, the Halo of the Sun

I think Vincent's role will be quite different in the film then, He hasn't got the sinister look about him that Vincent had in the game. I don't know if going with the order is a great idea unless they tie it to the cult from the film since it's a bit unrealistic to have two evil cults in one town.
Yes I know If I'm complaining about realism then why haven't I mentioned the monsters but that's do with the suspension of belief and such. My hopes aren't high for the project though, I liked Silent Hill for what it was but good sequels are a rarity.
Scarlett.
02-05-2011, 03:47 PM
I think Vincent will be a mix of Vincent and Douglas by the looks of it, I think this sequel could be an exception to the rule, the writer from the first film was...bad, Michael J. Bassett however is good, his past films have had a 'Silent Hill' quality to them, not to mention Lionsgate are doing this one not Sony (so theres no reusing footage from the first film), but the plus side is, they just said to Michael (according to Tom Waltz, writer of Downpour/Past Life) that he was free to do whatever he needed, no needing to meet points, no execs intefering in it all.
Gans mentioned that in the first film, the Cult were supposed to be opposed to the Order, which is where the whole "Demon" thing came from I imagine, the Order however, wont have been trapped by Alessa's wrath, they didn't harm her.

Just thought I’d post a little note here to keep you all up to date on events from the darkened world of editorial. I’ve been back from my vacation for a week but my editor has been cutting for longer than that so she’s already pulled together the rough assembly which we watched a few days ago. These very early cuts are always difficult to watch but now I know where I stand with the structure and form of the story and how the characters are working. It’s a good place to be and I like editing after the chaos and stress of the shoot. Sure, I’d far rather be at home in England sitting by a river but this is part of the job too and needs as much care and attention as everything else. I tend to look upon editing as the final draft of the script and approach a little like that. As is always the case, I find the ‘editor’ version of me cursing the ‘director’ version for not quite getting enough footage or not getting that extra angle or piece of coverage that would have been so beautiful. (And equally the ‘director’ version of me curses the ‘writer’ version of me for coming up with ideas that are impossible to deliver within the time and budget).
Either way, it all has to be done and these next few weeks will see me pulling together my directors’ cut that will hopefully form the basis of how the final movie will be. It’s only really when I’ve shown it to the producers and everyone wades in with their (often contradictory) opinions that things really get interesting. Fun times ahead…

From the directors blog:
You’ve waited a long time for this announcement, so I figured it was about time I told you all that Jeff Danna along with Akira Yamaoka will be composing the score for Silent Hill 2. Still a few details to be ironed out but I’m confident that nothing stands in the way. I’m really pleased it’s the same team as the first movie as I thought that was a damn fine score. Obviously Akira is one of the greatest game sound designers and composers and he’s a fundamental part of what made Silent Hill the greatest series of survival horror games ever created. Jeff is a hugely gifted composer who has immersed himself in the Silent Hill universe so knows how to bring it all together for cinematic purposes. Together they’re going to blow us all away. Quite how they’re going to work is yet to be decided but I’m raring to get into this part of the process to start hearing what they come up with.
Anyway, just thought you’d like to know. I’ll share some details of our progress as it all develops.

Once again, just dropping in to give you a swift status update. Still in Toronto moving onto the final phase of post production. The FX shots are coming in thick and fast, so each day there’s something new to review and comment on. There’s some terrific stuff and one new monster that looks just fantastic. Can’t wait for you guys to see it.
The sound design team haven’t yet completed a full pass at the film but each day I can see so many layers of new sounds being added. I know that when it comes to the final mix there’s going to be lots to play with. Same goes for music. Early days on this one so I’m only hearing the very basic ideas that have yet to be fully developed. This last week has been involved with ADR or looping as it’s sometimes called (depends where you’re from). It’s basically bringing actors back into the sound studio to re-record dialogue that isn’t useable for one reason of another. I’ve had Rhada, Malcolm, Deborah, Kit, Adelaide and Sean these past few weeks. Sometimes it’s a good opportunity to change the nuance of a performance or even to add entirely new lines. Some actors really like doing this but many hate the process and I can understand why. It’s very hard to re-create that moment of a performance in the sterile world of a sound booth. Still, if you’re a modern film actor, it’s an essential skill and it has to be done well. This coming week I’m doing ‘crowd’ sessions and ‘monster’ sessions - and you can figure out what they’re going to be yourselves.
Lots of comments and questions about release dates and trailers. Once again, I’ll just repeat here – it is NOTHING to do with me. I’m not a producer on this movie. My job is to deliver a finished film to the producers and they’ll decide when they want to release it and what form the promotion will take. I know the trailer is in process and I’ve seen a few different cuts so far but nothing that seems to capture the film properly. I asked one of the producers about when they wanted a trailer to surface and the reply was very simple – they don’t have a full strategy in place yet. Remember that the trailer isn’t going to be just for the Silent Hill fans - you guys are already going to go and see the movie. The trailer and marketing have to get all the people who have no idea what Silent Hill is to go and see the film. This is what the producers and distributors are thinking about now. I get to listen in and have an opinion but really, I’m not sure how much it counts.
Good news for my talented young friend Kit Harington who has been cast as King Arthur in the huge Warner Brothers pic, Arthur and Lancelot. Kit told me he had been waiting to hear about this for a few weeks and I’m truly delighted for him. He’s a terrific young actor and a great guy. With yet another Arthur movie heading our way it puts another nail in the coffin of my long-held desires – I’d always wanted to make a true dark ages Arthur story filled with blood and magic, based around the Welsh stories from the ‘Mabinogion’ but I can’t see that ever happening. Not sure what the tone of this new one is going to be but anything that gives Kit greater opportunities is fine by me.
And last but really not least; there is SOLOMON KANE in America news coming…. I can’t jump the gun because I have no details but I am assured that there is finally a future for Kane in the New World. And I have every reason to believe it is valid and true. As soon as I can share, believe me, I will.

Bassett (Solomon Kane, Deathwatch), original cast members Sean Bean (HBO’s Game Of Thrones, Lord Of The Rings), Deborah Kara Unger (The Game, 88 minutes, The Samaritan) and Radha Mitchell (Man On Fire, The Crazies, upcoming The Frozen Ground) return in SILENT HILL: REVELATION 3D, starring along with rising stars Adelaide Clemens (X-Men Origins, upcoming The Great Gatsby, No One Lives) and Kit Harington (HBO’s Game Of Thrones) as well as Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix, Disturbia, NBC’s Chuck) and Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange, The Artist).
In SILENT HILL: REVELATION 3D, Heather Mason (Clemens) and her father (Bean) have been on the run, always one step ahead of dangerous forces that she doesn’t fully understand. On the eve of her 18th birthday, plagued by horrificnightmares and the disappearance of her father, Heather discovers she’s not who she thinks she is. The revelation leads her deeper into a demonic world that threatens to trap her forever.
Ortenberg stated, “Silent Hill has proven to be a powerhouse franchise. The fans have greeted each incarnation, including the original SILENT HILL film, with great enthusiasm and we are confident that this latest project will be a strong addition to Open Road’s 2012 slate.”
Producer Samuel Hadida added, “The film is a thrill ride that improves on the original in many ways. We take all audiences, new and old, deep into the world of psychological horror that is Silent Hill, and advance thestory for those familiar with the franchise. We are thrilled to have Tom and his terrific team at Open Road presenting our film to U.S. audiences.”
The deal was negotiated on behalf of Open Road Films by Ortenberg, General Counsel and Executive Vice President of Operations and Business Affairs, Elliott Kleinberg, and Senior Vice President of Acquisitions, Ben Cotner. International sales for SILENT HILL: REVELATION 3D are being handled by Lionsgate. In addition to Samuel Hadida, the film was produced by Hadida’s Davis films as well as Don Carmody.

Direct from the directors blog
Hi there…. well some of you were of little faith but finally we’ve got a release date for SH2 and it’s a great one. Opening across the country on Halloween 2012. October 26th, to be precise. It was a tough one to nail down because there’s always so much competition on the great weekends and that’s why it took a while to make sure it was official but Samuel Hadida managed to make it happen. Power to him. We’re opening wide in the US and I suspect that the rest of the world will follow with releases are the same time. Expect trailers, promo materials and all that other good stuff to begin to appear quite soon.

I'm glad it's coming out this year, but it's going to be competing with Paranormal Activity.
Either way, I'll be going to see it.

How big is his role going to be in this?

"Then Saturday is all about Silent Hill 2. Interviews and press from first thing until the end of the day. The big event is a presentation in Hall H at 12:45. We’ve only got half an hour so it’s not exactly going to be in depth. But I’m going to show 2 clips from the movie in 3D. Sadly no trailer yet…they want to premiere that online in a few weeks. Of the clips, one is a sequence with a new monster and the other sees the return of some old favourites. The difficulty really is that the Hall H crowd is a family audience and there’s not a lot from Silent Hill that’s really fun that little kids who are waiting for the Hobbit, can watch. Adelaide Clemens is going to be there and Kit Harington was coming but he’s broken his ankle so isn’t going to be making the journey now. Damn shame for me and the Game of Thrones audience, who I’m sure would love to have seen their ‘John Snow’. The Silent Hill distributors have made up a souvenir Comic-Con only poster for the event which we’ll be giving away – it’s a very cool and striking image. And I’ll be hanging around in the afternoon to sign stuff before heading out to do some more interviews and things.

Silent Hill Revelations 3D may have been a film with little to no promotion since its announcement, but that has all changed today during the film’s San Diego Comic-Con panel. A clip from the film was released, a new image, some interesting bits of info, a few funny stories from the cast and crew, and a surprising Halloween announcement. Let’s try and recap all that has happened, today.
First off, IGN got the dibs on releasing the very first footage for the film. In it, we see Game of Thrones‘ Kit Harington as Vincent, strapped to a gourney while surrounded by the series’ iconic (now they are because of the first film and Homecoming) sexy nurses. They look the same as they did in the first film, and they also react to sound.
Heather, who bargains Vincent for his freedom, creates a whole bunch of noise setting the nurses off. The scene is short, looks nice, but I can’t help thinking it’s a tad cheesy. Also, did I hear a New York accent coming from Vincent? What happened to my flamboyant cult priest with impeccable taste and a swishy booty walk? Oh well, these things change. Regardless, I can’t wait to see more footage. Attendees to the panel were also treated to a second clip–one has not been released to the public just yet. A trailer is promised to be released within the coming weeks.
Despite my feelings toward this footage and Vincent’s role change, I’m very much looking forward to the film. If anything, it will be a great visual treat, but I definitely hope it delivers in all other aspects as well.
The panel, recapped by Konami’s Comic-Con blog, revealed a few fun details about the film. One such story was how Heather actress, Adelaide Clemens, prepared for each scene of the film. Apparently Ms. Clemens would scream before scenes as to get herself in the right psychological mood of a terrified girl. Producer Samuel Hadida said the DVD of the film might contain a “scream reel” of Adelaide’s scene preparations. That could be pretty amusing; I hope it makes it in.
As for the real hard hitting bits of info, let’s start with Bassett’s experience with the Silent Hill series. In the panel, Bassett explains that he has been a fan of the series for many years and that he will be approaching the film as a fan first. “I’m a fan first. I’m trying to make it pure. We didn’t just do this in isolation, we talked to Konami to make it right.” said Bassett, easing fans a bit.
Bassett also declared his fondness of live actors and puppetry when it comes to making scenes feel real. This line was in reference to one of the new creatures that will be in the film: a mannequin monster with multiple, spider-like appendages. Unfortunately, this creature has not been shown to those outside of the panel.
I give props to any director that prefers the grounded appearance of puppets in horror films. CGI just won’t cut it most of the time. The Thing, one of the best horror films of all time, did incredible things with real, in the room, puppets. CGI, as seen in The Thing‘s fairly recent prequel, just doesn’t have the same effect. I’m glad to hear that Bassett and I see eye to eye on this matter.
Bassett also goes into how the film is both a sequel to the first film while also being an adaptation of the third Silent Hill game. He also wanted to reassure fans that many series’ staples such as the lore and psychological aspects will be present in the film. Some Easter Eggs have also been put into the film as a treat for long time fans of the series.

Also, info on another creepy creature
"The other revealed a cinematic take on one of the Mannequins from "Silent Hill 2", depicting it as a spider creature that spins webs to capture victims alive. It also carries a number of different mannequin heads with it it, rotating between them as it pursues its would-be prey"

I like this it takes the "missing facial feature" from the first film's poster, and ramps up the nightmare factor, I think the guy in the poster is Malcolm McDowell's character too
