Hmm never really thought about it tbh. One of my teacher's was saying that he went to a funeral, and as they were lowering the coffin into the ground they played the Countdown music

I'm not sure if I'd want sometime upbeat or more emotional, maybe Don't Look Back in Anger or something like that

Yeah, was a at a friends funeral recently and they played Oasis' "Live Forever" and although I can't listen to it now, it was so much nicer and more personal than some dirge beingplayed by an old codger on the organ!

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there. I do not die.

Try reading between the lines and break away from such uninventive and lacklustre thinking. Poetry is more than just the words that you see at first glance.

I can't give you the meaning you get from the poem, but to me it represents that even though you pass from this world, you are still alive in people's memories and hearts.

This ^^^. A girl sang it unaccompanied at the funeral of a friend of mine. He was 45, single, loved a smoke, a drink and the craic. Died at home on his own after suffering an aneurysm. When she sang this at his funeral it was so appropriate and breathtaking that I actually stopped breathing for a few seconds.

blaaarg, I don't know. I used to say "Waterloo Sunset" by the Kinks but that only really applies if I've lived a long, happy life and don't mind dying LOL

I think "Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own" would be amazing if I committed suicide (don't worry, I won't lmao, it just fits... I have such cheerful thoughts)

I guess Oasis' "Live Forever" is a bit of a cliché choice, and has something of a personal meaning (I was listening to it the last time I saw my brother), so that might be nice. I think I'll stick with Waterloo Sunset.
