Well, when you think how unlikely it is that you were conceived in the first place, and how short a time we actually have, and what an astonishingly miraculous place the world is, how could you not want to carry on?

It would be rude not to

Yep, and how fortunate we are to have been born in a country like the UK
I wonder what the chances are, across the whole world, of being born into poverty, must be quite high.

So is the question 'what is the point of life'? In which case, to put it quite simply - there is no point. But there is absolutely no way I would ever give up what I have, but, really, there is no point in us being here...

The point to my life is my family,my love for my children, husband and family, passing on as much knowledge to my children as i can, caring for animals and people worse off than myself and enjoying all that the planet has given us,but at the same time having to deal with horrible things that happen in the world, having to deal with sadness and loss, life is tiring sometimes, but I always feel priviledged I was given life,I hope I have not messed up too much.Life is what we have been given and we should make the most of every passing minute.Take everything in and enjoy.

We do not ask for life but once we are here we must find our own purpose. Life itself has no intrinsic value, it is what we do with it that gives it meaning.

It's better than being dead. I'm not exactly one of life's biggest achievers, but for me, life doesn't even need to have meaning, which is just as well as life is pretty absurd for the most part.

Ditto. My poetry and writing may not come to anything until I'm long gone, but at least I would have tried to leave my mark on the world

Brilliant response to the question, I am being deadly serious here Livia but have you ever thought of writing a book just as to life through your eyes, maybe with political basis to it too.
I would buy it, I am sure it would sell loads. Near all your posts make me think, this post is so thought provoking.

There isn't and I wish I was never born.
Love my mum and dad, Marge, the dog and brother.
Life is struggle, but you just get on with it.
You make the best of what you've got and for me that is a life on the Internet.
I've gone out and done a lot of things, but never found the right group of people for my liking. I've given up on it.
So for me I just stay in when most people my age will be out having a good time, but for me having a good time goes as far as chatting on the Internet, food and watching TV.
I don't think it helps when you have your own mental health problems, but you just get on with it.
I know that life will only get much harder, but I will deal with that when the time comes.
I am proud that I've survived what I've been through and I'll keep doing that. We'll see, maybe the day will come when I've had enough and just end it, but I'm a strong person. I think if I was to have committed suicide then I probably would have now, but I don't know because I don't know what the future will bring.
It is very selfish to end life because it won't be fair on the people who love you. I see light at the end of the tunnel too. Even if it is in my head I can still dream of being something great. As daft as it sounds, I see myself being someone famous and people looking up to me, but maybe that is just a coping mechanism for me when I'm struggling.
EDIT: So as a short answer, the point to my life is surviving. I'm in a much, much, much better position than I was not too long a go so can only be grateful for that.
Jessica.

I feel there is little point in me existing I must admit. I never wanted children of my own, my nephew is almost a man and on easy-street, been with women, can get others, had fast cars, been to exotic places such as Mauritius. Nothing left to do except go see the BIg Heads on Christmas Island in the Pacific which I could do starting tomorrow if I wanted to.
I seriously believe that life has to be about offspring and doing the best for them. As I have none, I couldn't care less about global warming or the economy - I'll die in about 40 years and struggling to think of more things I wanna do between now and then.
This attitude is far from my socialist principles, but I couldn't care less.
When you achieve all your ambitions in life (and not kids to worry about) there is eff all else to do.
