If you could take a pill that would make you heterosexual, would you?
[I worry this thread has been done before, but not in the recent past: maybe a year ago]
edit: I've made the poll anonymous in case some users are uncomfortable with their answer being public.

he means that the 3rd option need not have been there because you can see the results anyway but I would never have known that and never seen the results had the third option not been in:joker:

There's a pill that can make you straight?
I hope they bring this into an Eastenders storyline with Syed.

Definitely yes, because I think my life would be much easier. I'm not ashamed of who I am, though.

Scientists managed to turn gay sheep straight using an injection, so I wouldn't say theres nothing of the sort

I'm straight, my best mate is a gay man. I realise this is hearsay (so I haven't taken part in the poll), but he once told me he wishes he had been born straight, got married and had a family. Having said that, he's proud of who he is and what he is. And I am proud of him also.

Even if you can view the poll results, you can't see who voted for what, which is what counts. There's a pill that can make you straight?
I hope they bring this into an Eastenders storyline with Syed.
LOL OMG of course there isn't.
In answer to the question, I genuinley don't know. :(
No doubt, life would be easier if I had been born straight. But I wasn't, I was born bisexual, and I wouldn't change who I am as I don't think it's something that I should change, and I like it being me :)
Shaun

I think, because I'm bisexual, there's not much of a problem. I've never really been subject to any hate, and I see nothing wrong with being attracted to men - so I wouldn't take it.

I'd like to try it out to see what being straight would be like but I'd only do it for a night or something.
I like being gay. I'd rather focus my attention on men lol. ;)

As if they'd create a pill to make straight men gay.
This subject is really depressing. The idea of there being a change makes me wanna cry. :(
I think some backward places in the US offer "straight camps" where they try and turn gay people, there was a guy on the radio who'd been to one because he was a Christian fundamentalist and believed he was commiting a sin by being gay :/

Although being straight would make my life easier i wouldnt be me without my gayness haha x

From what I remember (it was over a year ago now) the "treatment" was successful and he was now straight, so he said anyway.
Here's an article about them - http://www.alternet.org/story/146557/?page=entire

Its disgusting that they do stuff like that. All it does is suppress your true feelings. People who send relatives to places like that are so selfish :bored: .

All that corrective therapy is BS as everyone says. Can't say I wouldn't be tempted if that pill did exist though. Men are a complete nightmare to live with a lot of the time. On the other hand it's nice not having any pressure to raise a family. A lot of people seem to give up on their careers and dreams for the sake of marriage and kids. Not saying it isn't worth it, but lets just say I'm pleased I will probably never have to pay a mortgage in my lifetime.

Nope. I've been straight and had girlfriends etc. I'm happy being gay, it is who I am, why would I change that?
I reckon this poll would be a lot different if all of the people were younger, maybe even before they came out.
Being straight is the norm and whilst being gay isn't anything to ashamed of, I reckon loads of gay people would prefer to have been straight from the start just beacuse its easier

Nope, most gay guys I know (myself included) are happy being gay and would never want to be straight.

Yep. Is this not common knowledge? I suppose most of you were not here when I joined or before I went to Oz.

I voted yes. Just for the fact life would be easier (Christian parents wouldn't approve if I fell for a guy, if I got wasted I wouldn't press myself into a guy/say or do things I regret etc)

Yes I would.
It wasn't long a go that a friend of a friend who I didn't know, was trying to change me as a person.
He was religious. Can't remember now what religion he was.
He was like 'god created the penis for the vagina'. 'Speak deeper, put your chin up'.
He was going on about adam and eve too.
Just trying to change the way I dance and everything.
I don't tar every religion with a brush, but I can understand the views some people have. I felt so uncomfortable and the stuff he was coming out with was just ridiculous.
You can't change someone like that. I didn't say anything either until he pushed me.

no. i  being gay
Nope, most gay guys I know (myself included) are happy being gay and would never want to be straight.
What about when you were about 14 or 15 and going through denial and trying to convince yourself you were straight? I bet you'd take the pill in an instant then.. I think people are happy with it because they accept it and know it can't be changed so just perservere but really who doesn't want to be normal and accepted by everyone?

No, I wouldn't take a pill to make me heterosexual.
I'm Bi and am happy with who I am. People seem to be fine with me liking women, but when it comes to men people seem to make out it's wrong to like somebody of the same sex, I don;t care what people think really. This is who I am, and I wouldn't change for anybody.
I suppose life would be hassle free in certain ways but if I'm meant to be this way then so be it...
Angus

You only get one shot at life, so why should you have to change who you are to please other people? Whether you're gay, bi or straight is no-one's business but your own and if you're happy with who you are why would you want to change that?

You should just be as you are,be true to yourself,it's your life,as long as you are a decent human being it matters not ,what your sexual preference is,there is good and bad in all.
