View Full Version : I Can't Be Gay... Right? [Serious Thread For Serious Answers]
Patrick

Hey everyone :xyxwave:
I'm Patrick and I'm an alcoholic.
No I'm not, I'm really like excited two secs.
Okay I'm cool.
So I'm being serious here, now listen, k?
Ever since Primary 7 people keep calling me Gay/Fag/Queer/Bent etc
Now, here's the deal.
We all know these words are chucked about so much nowadays by mates and just lads in the school yard.
But people I don't even know call me it.
Or people I do know but not THAT well, if you get me?
Like yesterday I was walking out of a shop, accidently sort of bumped into this guy from 2nd Year.
And he was like 'Watch it you ******ing queer.'
I get this every day, it's seriously upsetting me now.
Then I get people saying things like 'Why do you fancy every girl you see?'
They exaggerate, but I can see what they mean because I do say 'She's ******ing fit' or 'I would' etc to alot of girls that walk past, because they are as Keith Lemmon would say, Bang Tidy.
I tend to enjoy and like things that girls would like, or rather things men wouldn't like as much.
Examples would be: I Hate Sport, I Love Big Brother, I Like Drama, I Prefer Pop and Stuff to Rock Sh*t etc
Now I do share the same interests as other guys in some things like Xbox and stuff like that and I like some music like rap and bands like Pendulum and The Prodigy etc
So you can see where I'm coming from?
I'm fully attracted to girls, I really do not see myself being in a relationship with a guy I don't want to have 'intercourse' with a guys anus or anything however I do get picked on alot for liking things most guys wouldn't.
At first I thought it was my voice, I always thought I had a high voice but it turns out my voice is very deep for my age.
And like I said, I don't find myself attracted to guys.
I'm able to sit in a room alone with a dude for hours on end and just talk and stuff without thinking about blowjobs and all that.
But If it's with a girl, as any lad would,
I'd think about shagging her quite alot.
The thought of having sex with a male or any males having sex does make me abit sick, but I AM NOT HOMOPHOBIC.
I love all of you on here, well not all of you but most of you are awesome and I've grown to like you all alot since I joined and alot of the guys on here are Gay so I don't have a problem with that kind of thing.
The thing is,
I'm just wondering like, I am straight right?
The fact that people keep calling me gay, even people I don't know, EVEN my ******ing nan kept making me 'Come Out' the other night and she's quite homophobic.
And alot of girls call me it too for goodness sake, and everyone else like literally complete and utter BELLENDS can get hot girlfriends but when I ask them it's 'Um, No.'
I mean what the ******?
I think I'm a pretty decent lad in terms of personality, Chavs can get any girl they want but when I ask I constantly get it through back in my face?
Every day it's 'Such and Such is in a relationship' or on the bus 'umfgz i'm going out with [insertchavhere] again babes!'
So what on earth is it?
And I don't feel any attraction towards guys.
Surely, to be gay you must have that?
Or is liking Big Brother and some songs that most lads wouldn't, all it take to make you 'gay' these days?
Answers Please.
This was quite hard for me to ask on here seeing as I know alot of you so well now, so take the piss and I'll ******ing go mental.

Nope, you just have a softer side to you and are not afraid to show it (something some males are afraid to show). Nothing wrong with that.
I don't think you are gay.

Being Gay = Fancying Men
If you don't fancy men, your not gay.
Its just people have a sterotypical view of what gay people like, and some of the criteria you fit, doesn't mean your gay though.

I wouldn't look into the randomer saying "watch it you queer" too much, he probably meant it in the entirely charming, universal-insult, sense. Probably didn't actually think you were gay.
I think there're some who will be fuelled by this thread, though. The phrase "the lady doth protest" springs to mind - it's best, if you aren't gay, just not to keep bringing it up.
But obviously the assholes you mentioned in the bullying thread keep bringing it up - but you have to ask yourself: is that because they genuinely think you are? Or because they know it winds you up? I think we all know it's the latter :) Rise above it.

Just because loads of ***** say you're gay doesn't mean you are. You're just more in touch with your feminine side.
And I love you too.

No - but only you yourself will ever know if you're gay. No one else. Absolutely no one.
Like ukturtle said, most guys put on a 'hard' persona to impress their peers. It's pretty pathetic, really - but that's the way it is. They will try their best to ensure that they comply with this stereotype [which is, by the way, a load of ****ing bollocks] of what a 'straight guy' is. You know the stuff - sport, appearing 'hard' etc etc. I don't need to go into it. But this is all bravado. Most of them are insecure and seeking acceptance and don't want to be 'left out'. To speak out and happily admit that you like things that are stereotypically not the stuff that 'straight men' like/do proves, if anything - that you're definitely confident with your sexuality. It's the ones that put on the persona that aren't, or could be - as they're trying so hard to hide something.
If I were you I'd smile and laugh, knowing full well that you're confident with your sexuality and that you are real. Not putting on a fake persona to impress people - thus you're not insecure or ignorant enough to comply with bullsh!t stereotypes. And that all those that aren't like that, are, chances are, insecure, attention seeking, not happy with their sexuality, etc etc etc. When you realise that you're actually better than them - that's when you can attempt to laugh it off, realising just how ignorant they all are.
Shaun hit the nail on the head though. Don't react [at least try not to] - because that's the one thing bullies want; a reaction. They get bored otherwise.
Hope you're okay :)
I hate it when people try and define you as gay because of your taste in music, television etc.
There's only one criteria you need to fit to be gay and that's being attracted to men. If you aren't then you can prance around in lycra, listening to glee, speaking in a high voice, being unable to throw a ball, doing a sudoku, watching Big Brother and crying at Brokeback Mountain and still be 100% straight as far as I'm concerned.

So do I, I'd just always thought of it as a stereotypically gay thing to do, not really sure why though
I'll have you know I'm good at throwing and catching balls :)
Lol I dont doubt it, I was just trying to think of some stereotypes :)

Patrick you aren't gay.
As you said you have no physical attraction to another man, which therefore means you are not homosexual.
BUT, you may be more camp than other guys. Seriously though Patrick who actually cares? As long as you are happy with the way you are, then why should you care about what anyone else thinks?
Even though I'm gay, at school I am firmly in the closet. If I were to come out, I know I'd become a total outcast. Everyone knows how vicious secondary school can be. But what I am saying is if anyone calls you gay, just ignore it. Thats what I do. The more you ignore it, the less people will say it to you. It works, trust.

TBH Patrick, I'm not going to sugar coat this. Your probably slightly confused because your slightly bisexual. Nothing wrong with it. Everyone in this world is bisexual to some degree.

How did you deduce this? If he doesn't find males attractive at all, that makes him straight, No?

No one is a 100% straight nor is anyone 100% gay. Fact.

With respect, he is 15.
It is understandable for someone his age to be confused.
I fancied girls myself when I was younger. I'm only 19 now.
Patrick is asking us if he is gay. For him to even ask us that confirms the confusion. 'I can't be gay....right?'.
I think as default you're not going to fully know at that age. Given a couple more years I am sure he will find his feet.
I was bullied for being gay at school. I knew deep down that through those years at school in which I denied it, people were only telling the truth even if they were bullying me.
Might be totally different in Patrick's case.
Didn't you put earlier that you turned gay?
I don't find this to be the case, not from what you've said. Most likely you were gay all along or bisexual.

Nah, you're not defined by your taste in things, you're defined by your sexual preference.
But he is defined by his tastes.
Immature people, narrow minded people who will think through the music he listens to that he is gay. < example.
If I told you that my favourite girl bands are Spice Girls, The Saturdays and I also love Cher, Madonna, Britney etc. What would you think? Would you make a judgement?
It is the mature person, the not narrow minded person who will over look these things.

Dear me.
You don't need anybody on here to tell you you're sexuality. If you like cock you're gay, if you like pussy you're straight.
Sexual preference is pretty instinctive.

I think it's only up to you if your gay or not.
If you don't find males attractive then it's obvious that you're not. But maybe it's due to puberty?
Maybe that sounds stupid, but I found any guy attractive when I was going through puberty, and it's one of the reasons I came out.
