The comment left about the article is very telling.

Why does the Mirror have this blatant vendetta against Matt Cardle? His ex GF has given an interview pleading to be left alone to get on with her NEW relationship and begging the papers to stop linked her to Matt. The pic is of two people posing for a photo - whats suggestive about that. And after writing all that fantasy, the last line tells us the truth. You're relentless though I'll give you that - some spin about him every day. You wouldnt be trying to nobble him would you?

True and yet they allowed Danyl to be slated last year but it's ok because he was controversial and gave them the ratings/publicity etc that they wanted and in terms of voting he was up and down every week so he was a great use. Still he's bringing out an album soon:).
