I've heard before that 'Elton John songs are really hard to sing' but suspected this was just a myth and thought everyone would do really well. I was wrong. I definitely think that was the poorest week yet.

My thoughts on the performances (know you might not be interested but need to get it out!):

Paije - He sang it well, but it has to be said - it was really, really boring. I felt so sorry for him when the judges gave ther comments though, cause he's so sweet and he just looked completely crushed.

Aiden - I thought Rocket Man would really suit Aiden so I was pretty disappointed. I feel like it could have been really good and I don't think it was his fault at all. I love Aiden's voice and I just love him in general, but they did that really annoying thing where the backing track is so overpowering you can barely hear a word the act is singing. The arrangement seemed to me like just a bit of a mess, and it was a little too fast for Aiden. I think if it was slowed down, and the backing track was a lot quieter, it would've been brilliant. I should just be a mentor for this show, really.

Katie - I like Katie, but this was awful. Again, it's not really her fault. It was quite obviously the worst song Cheryl could have picked for her. I think she could have done Your Song well actually. It was way too fast, and they did the annoying overpowering backing track thing again, so you couldn't her anyway. Like Aiden, she needs something slow with a quieter backing track.

Matt - He was really good, as usual. I don't love him as much as everyone else does because I don't find his performances particularly interesting, although he seems lovely as a person. But yeah, he was good, not much else to say about Matt.

Cher - Probably my favourite performance of the night. I thought she sang it really well, the mash-up worked well and I love Mockingbird so it was just all good for me.

Wagner - The best part about Wagner's performances is watching the judges faces. Other than that, uh, not a fan of Wagner. It looked like some weird tribal ritual was taking place? I hope he goes really.

One Direction - They were really good, although eveyone's acting like they were amazing and much better than usual, and I don't really see it to that extent, to be honest. There's just something very likeable about them.

Rebecca - She was really good, but not as good as she usually is, I didn't think so anyway.

Gonna be voting frantically for Aiden then. What are all your thoughts on tonight?

I don't think his songs are hard to sing, but they are not suited to being drastically shortened.
The lyrics of his better songs need the whole song done to make the impact, once you cut this verse and that verse out then they don't make sense and don't come across well.

Amazed no one sang Your Song. what a lost opportumity for a great peformance with that song.

I loved reading your comments. its what we are here to do and even when I disagree with people I still like to read what they are saying and thinking.

I am certainly voting for Aiden, I loved his performance again, yes it was a bit too hurried but I felt that with most of the performances, its like they wanted the acts off the stage faster than usual tonight.

Yeah, that could be it. Although I thought no one's vocals sounded as good as they usually do, so I think perhaps the songs are hard to sing too. Although I wouldn't have predicted that.

I agree about Your Song, I actually think Aiden or Katie could have done that really well.

I think the hype with One Direction is not so much about them being technically good, but more about the fact that it's apparent they're likely to be successful. They're probably going to do well in the industry, and that's what the hype is about.

Oh thank you :)

Yeah, I love Aiden, definitely gonna watch his performance again as I often find his performances are better the second time.

It was a pretty poor show. The only good ones were Cher, Matt, and Rebecca (even though I can't stand her). Aiden was better than usual aswell.

I do like his songs, I just felt that they didn't quite work the way they were used tonight. Everything was hurried and it felt like not many acts were given the right song choices.

I agree with you there, although Matt was good as well.

Wish Matt had sang Your Song but then again I liked a bit of difference this week

Wasn't keen on anyone this week really. Rebecca and Matt were great as usual but nothing made me go 'wow'
