I'd not be so sure it was a good thing. Most likely, it's people having to keep rewatching because they couldn't believe how badly she murdered the song the first time they heard it. :joker:

nah she murdered the song. You don't want to accept the fact that she did, but then again, I doubt you really know much about Elton John or his huge musical talents, or indeed, his songs. Cher did it no justice at all. She murdered it as anyone who is an Elton John fan, is happy to confirm. Me being one of them. ;)

Nope, not really, I wasn't born in the 60's.

But I have heard his songs, that one Cher sang is really good, and I thought she did well with it, obviously as did lots of people :)

Great, am so pleased you agree.... that you really know nothing about Elton Johns songs.

Seeing as you admit it, it means you really aren't in the strongest position to give accurate judgment really.

FTR, there's no golden rule that one has to be born in the 60's to be a fan of EJ. ;)

There there now, don't you go getting all het up and getting nasty about the people who are viewing Cher's perfomance online. (seeing as you used the singular, you think it's only one person who has viewed more than once?_ My, that's some talent you have!)

If it wasn't for 'some pathetic weirdo' - her figures wouldn't be as high as they are - allowing people like you to gloat over.

Cher deserves credit for tackling difficult songs like Stay. The fact she wasnt gifted with an amazing voice means she has to try a lot harder.

And she is one of only a few who have actually been improving week after week.

Ah here now.......I know she's only 17 and perhaps her facial muscles are going through some kind of weird post-puberty adjustments, but that's a little harsh, don't you think? Cher is to gurning what summer is to sunshine, but she's probably fairly sane.........

You wouldn't watch a performance you don't like though, even though she is the talking point.. it's not really relevant.

And you'd only watch it once if you'd missed the actual show, so whatever way you look at it, she's more popular as she's being viewed more.

Really. Okay, here's a little scenario for you.

You didn't watch XFactor last night, so catch up online. You click 'play'. Just as the song starts..... your phone rings, you answer and have a chat with your mate. You have to go back and click 'play' again when you've ended your telephone convo.

Now replace your phone ringing with, answering the door / something distracting you / niipping to the kitchen to pour a drink / check what's cooking.

so.... what point were you making again?

Maybe they did. Or maybe it's a group of overly obsessive fans loving the chav that did it - when necking their bottles of illicitly purchased White Lightning or Alcopops, too pissed to know what they are doing!!!! Who knows!!!

I watch performances I don't like over and over, obviously I watch ones I like much more but if I dont watch a performance how can I judge it. Often I find when I watch a performance a few times I get to like it,just as with music, a song may not hit you first time you hear it but after a few plays you may come to like it and even buy it.

Naturally at other times the more you watch or listen to something it turns you off it more.

An intelligent and mature post Joey. I agree totally. Matt's performance last week I watched possibly about a dozen times: not only to hear it again, but I wanted to home in on the judges reactions: esp when Cheryl looked at Danni and said, "WOW".

Why? Because having a Psychology Degree as well as studying Human Behaviour: I wanted to try to see more in the 'connection' between very competitive judges: and by that I mean, did Cheryl's face/ eyes indicate direct eye to eye contact with Danni, or was it feigned recognition.....

there is a lot more to all of this, esp seeing the impact the judges have.

Similarly: Cher singing 'Stay' - that was one I watched several time also: simply as I was very familiar with the original version and wanted to see how she sang several more impacting parts of it.

Seriously though, the reason Cher gets so many hits on Youtube is because, imho, those who gravitate towards Cher are those who have the time and/or inclination to watch her over, and over, and over, and over again, pausing and taking notes in a vain attempt to find evidence of actual singing ability. Someone earlier in the thread suggested that you 'worship' Cher or leave the thread; therein lies evidence of the mentality I'm talking about.
Now, Aiden's, Matt's and Rebecca's fans will revel in the live performance, and, perhaps, watch it back maybe once or twice - but probably on Sky + rather than on a wee Youtube computer screen. Cher's fans probably haven't got charge of the remote :joker:
Those Aiden, Matt and Rebecca fans would rather savour the anticipation of their beautifully produced studio albums, rather than indulge in hypnotically repetitive regurgitations of their studio performances.

LOL. Should I tell you now Pats, that I am reknown for my Minute Taking in the Company - I think the word, 'Thorough' has been used more than once!

Now you are talking business in referencing Matt, Rebecca and Aiden. The very epitomy of good performers - all round, with depth, substance and well.... the whole likeablity factor. Whoop whoop :dance::devil:

Oh please not more sad excuses. Just accept people WANT to watch Cher. Fact.

Oh. Now that's a breathtakingly in depth riposte. You want to challenge my proposed explanation for Cher's Youtube hit number? No? Or my reasoning behind tht explanation? No? Ok then. Bye.

FFS Paty. Get with it will ya? That would indicate some acceptable level of intellectual debating and skillful reasonsing.... I'm not altogether sure that's likely to be forthcoming. I think you really are setting the bar too high. You really ought to be ashamed of yourself !!!!! LOL :joker:

Now ...that I am happy to accept as being for all the right reasons.

Rebecca is a lady. Note the teminology: lady (not chav, not arrogant, not a stroppy, anorexic type, tempermental teenager who is up her own arse) - a lady.

this was the lady who said reference the red carpet Premier night, " I felt I was gategrashing". Compare that to a certain little chav known as Cher, who declared, "this is where I belong". No doll... you belong where you are.. in the gutter - get used to it. You'll be back there soon enough.

Rebecca is one of the most humbling people on the show who has no idea how wonderful she is vocally. She is an absolute pleasure to watch.

I know i said i couldn't be bothered to reply to you but on this i just had to.

Can you please show where she said that because to my understanding she said nothing of the sort. Maybe YOU should try re-watching what she actually said before getting your facts wrong.

Oh and you seem to know her very well to declare her as 'arrogant, stroppy and tempermental' seems you have a very good judge of character after seeing her only 5 minutes tops a week. Get out of your own arse and bother watching her backstage videos and video diaries then judge her.
