Pamela Anderson to enter Indian Big Brother house

Anderson will join the 10 remaining participants on the programme, known as Bigg Boss, for an "unspecified time" near the western city of Mumbai.

She could prove a ratings booster for the show, which is now in its fourth season.

Among the Indian participants in the house this year are a former woman bandit and some models and TV actors. The show is hosted by Bollywood star Salman Khan.

Anderson shot to fame between 1992-97 as the star of Baywatch, an American action drama about California life guards.

The show was recognised by the Guinness World Records as the most watched TV series in history, with an estimated weekly audience of 1.1 billion at its peak.

"I have done Big Brother Australia," Anderson, 43, told the Mumbai Mirror after landing at Mumbai's international airport on Nov. 15. "I am very excited. I always wanted to come to India. This is a great opportunity. I am looking forward to my stay."

Two years after she moved into the Australian Big Brother house, Pamela Anderson has joined the cast of the Indian version of the reality TV show.

Dressed in a white sari, the 43-year-old actress surprised the celebrity housemates on Bigg Boss when she arrived unannounced last night.

The former Baywatch star will appear on the show for three days before leaving on Friday.
