Just please, I love the song but not again on X Factor I hope will someone get 'the long and winding road'. or 'Let It Be'.

Theres likely over 1000 songs in the Beatles songbook, lets have a good and totally new selection, Actually the right song and Paije could shine this week, No place for rapping in Beatles songs from Cher though, surely.

Meh. :/

Hmm. Well noone will touch my favourites because they're too impossible to sing (While My Guitar Gently Weeps) or too unknown by the masses (In My Life).

Some I'd be interested in seeing:

Paije - I Want To Hold Your Hand (quite probable given his past performances)
Rebecca - Oh! Darling (recently covered by Florence + the Machine, would like to see her or Katie try it)
Cher - if she DARES bring in some rap I'll throttle her. I guess 'Come Together' would provide her with a platform to gurn and move stupidly, à la Olly Murs.
Katie - see Rebecca, or Let It Be
Matt - Something would be quite nice from him. Not much in the way of falsettos for him.
One Direction - I'd rather they died. But I imagine they'll get something like She Loves You.
Mary - hmm. Blackbird? That'd be interesting.
Wagner - lmao. err. Back in the USSR? Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da? I Am The Walrus? omfg I hope it's the latter. COO COO CA CHOO.

I agree, such a fantastic back catalogue so hopefully they will not rake over old ground

And with Cher? Oh god, please no rapping over classics such as these. If they even think of mashing the Beatles with Jay Z / 50 pence etc I think I may actually blow

I like Cher sort of. We know she can rap just please Cher I beg you don't rap during Beatles week or a set artist week like Elton John week last week. It's not needed :s

Meh

If they pick a well known song, they'll murder it
If they pick a not so well known song, they'll bore the audience and put themselves at risk

So I expect they'll all pick predictable, done-to-death songs and ruin them. I think Mary, Rebecca and Matt will put in passable performances but I'm not holding out much hope for the rest...

This!! Mary doing a belting-stand-on-the-spot performance would actually be appropriate as well! I can only assume they're not doing it because Cher and One Direction would fail miserably at it.

Are you being serious?

Don't like it when the theme is based around one artist/group, should always have wider themes.

I hate artist based theme weeks especially done to death and cliched ones like The Beatles. I've said it before and will say it again, Simon is always going on about how the contestants need to be current and relevant, how the hell can they do that with themes like this?

I agree. However The Beatles have done so many songs that they are an exception!

If you can't do a half-competent Beatles cover you're going nowhere in music. Their catalogue is too varied to say "this theme isn't broad enough".

great theme. I love the beatles. But I wish they did it when they could sing two songs therefore they could do the beatles and queen!

Another bollocks week.

They tell the contestants to be new and modern yet give them themes like this and Elton John for ****** sake.

Well it clearly brightens up the show when the other performances are dull as ****** like last week, The theme was the worst in the series so far.

I hate artist weeks, and tbh they'll just ruin any song they touch, tbh.

its good music in its own right but on this kind of show its dated and boring

Saturdays show was terrible with just 2 half decent performances, and its going to be the same again this week

I do think it's quite silly having themes at all - it'd make much more sense to just have any song they want, and no judges - but I guess that it would just be Pop Idol then

Vague themes are good, and it was good when they first started the themes and had a relevant artist on each week e.g. Motown week with Lionel Richie whereas now its a bit more random

And dont you mean Stars in their Eyes? ... that was loads better anyway

I hated Matthew Kelly though

And we still need a Madonna week with Madonna preforming...

I love the beatles, but the thought of them all doing a Beatles song each doesn't exactly excite me. Last week felt a bit samey and meh cos all the songs were by the same artist, and too overdone, so with an even bigger artist it'll probably be worse! Though if it's their less famous songs it could be really good and interesting. For me anyway.

Whitney Houston was the last one I think and the complete thing was so ironic when she came out drugged off her face and walking round the stage singing 'ohhhh' for 3 minutes with her dress falling off

I would post link to YT but cba

Agree about Big Band Week .... cant believe Cowell axed this when it is the best week to sort the good from the downright c-rap

As far as the Beatles are concerned, surely it is the responsibility of the artists and the backroom team to MAKE the songs relevant. Singing the Beatles in a 60's vibe will seem dated (even though their music has lasted through the decades) however they need to bring the Beatles up to date I feel this week which would be a great challenge for them artistically

I have a feeling katie is going to do really well this week. Rebecca is going to be the best. Matt and paije will nail it. And one direction will be interesting. Mary will be boring and cher really does need to sing this week and not rap otherwise I reckon she will find herself in the bottom two with mary. I reckon katie will go through this week. I definitely think mary is in danger this week but we shall see

I would post link to YT but cba hahaha yeah I remember that. Cant believe she went from being such a talented beautiful woman with a stunning voice to being a mess like that. So much for her comeback. Gone off the scene again thank goodness. But I agree that masterclasses should be brought back. Dont think judges are doing a good enough job with the contestants so they could do with the extra help. Oh and just noticed on my post above this that I missed out wagner oh well its obvious he is going to be awful but get through still

The song choices for this week's Beatles-themed X Factor have apparently been revealed.

It was confirmed yesterday that contestants will have to sing a track by the Fab Four on this weekend's live show. It is the first time that the theme has been used on the programme.

According to The Sun, last week's sing-off survivor Katie Waissel has decided to sing 'Help', while fellow 24-year-old Rebecca Ferguson will tackle 'Yesterday'.

Cher Lloyd has reportedly chosen to perform John Lennon's 'Imagine', and Simon Cowell's One Direction have decided upon 'All You Need Is Love'.

Matt Cardle is said to be singing 'Come Together' - previously performed on the ITV singing contest by Olly Murs - while Paije Richardson will tackle 'Let It Be'.

In Louis Walsh's category, Mary Byrne has been given 'Something', while Wagner Carrilho keeps up his record of performing medleys by fusing together 'Get Back', 'Hippy Hippy Shake' and 'Hey Jude'.

The X Factor continues on Saturday at 8pm on ITV1.

Hmm...

Help is a very appropriate song for Katie, but Imagine, that is not a Beatles song, that was John Lennon solo, so that should not qualify. If she does do it,and puts any rap in it then she could find a backlash against her as this song is sacrosanct to people being likely John Lennon's finest and most respected 'solo' composition.

However, oh no,not the same somgs again, Let it be, and Come together, they are done to death no one expects anything new from those songs anymore.

We're even getting Olly Murs repeatedly on the competition trailer singing Come Together, all the time X Factor is on, this doesn't sound on paper,if those choices are right, to be going to be an even interesting week.let alone entertaining.

yeah imagine is not a beatles song, there is plenty in the beatles catalogue of great songs, shows what the production team know about music
