Cher is going to steal the show with that song if she just sings.

Oh my word at wagner. Haha. Katie has got a poor song. Rebeccas song bores me. Love matt and chers songs which is good because they are my favourites. I dont know marys song. Paije and one directions songs are good choices and think they will do well. Hopefully katie and wagner in the bottom two

If Cher sings Imagine she'll do great, she better not ruin the whole thing by sticking a rap in there somewhere.

I love Matts song too but I'd say it's pretty hard to sing hope he does ok with it

How come Cher got the best song?she better do it justice, but isn't this a John Lennon song,NOT a Beatles song?

I dont know marys song.

Something was done better and made more famous by Shirley Bassey, and it has a very powerful chorus which will give Mary the opportunity to release her lungs.

Yes it was done by Lennon....which begs the question, is it a Beatles week or a songs by Lennon & McCartney week?

If its the former, then Cher's song is not valid and would be a cheat....but it wouldnt be the first time that the judges have done this.

Imagine is John Lennon solo, it never was, is or ever will be a song associated with the Beatles, if the theme is Beatles week then this should be removed from the song choices.

The Beatles have over at least 1000 songs in their songbook, Imagine is not one of them and if they go ahead and allow her to sing it, but further if they dare to put a stupid rap segment into the song too, that will be a total disgrace and a massive insult to John Lennon and to the whole sentiment behind this song that is noted as one of John Lennons finest 'solo' compositions.

Cheryl clearly hasn't a clue as to music and its writers but over to Louis on this one, surely his rule book again will be brought into play against Cheryl .I can't wait.

Not a big fan of them but by the sound of it Cher has the best song?

I so hope she sings then and doesn't ruin it by rapping.

Nothing wrong with singing a John Lennon song, he was the main person in the Beatles afterall.

as long as she doesn't put a rap bit in it she will do brilliant with it, she has a really nice voice and that's a great song

Don't think she is putting a rap in with it, Wagner's mix is listed so if Cher was doing a mix so would that be.

I don't understand all this talk of Cher having the best song. This is subjective really...and all Beatles songs are wonderful anyway. Seems like the contestants have just chose the right one for them.

I dont care that cher has a lennon song...lennon WAS afterall part of the beatles.

What I will care about, is if she attempts to rap during it

Possibly. but cher has yet to rap well...in any performance. I doubt she will have a massive turnaround and be good at it this week :)

Compared to the professionals out there, she's pretty 'average'. But as a new, young pop star, she can exploit the theme, regardless.

On a brighter note, if she just sings...I really do think she will smash it. Really hoping for this, as I actually liked her 'stay' and the singing part of last weeks performance. Nice little voice she has

I agree, though obviously her vocals are weak compared to some other contestants. I'm sure she'll get a recording contract in any case.

'Something' is George Harrison's, if I remember correctly :spin2:

I think people just need to get over their Cher hate. I'm not particularly a fan but its still a John Lennon song and there have been bigger deviations in themes this series e.g Matt doing Bruno Mars in musical heroes week and Mary doing her audition song in guilty pleasures week. Meanwhile Mary is going to be doing the Shirley Bassey version yet thats not a problem because she isn't hated like Cher is.

Yes, but written and recorded and while the Beatles were together it was also on a single by the Beatles too as a double A side in 1969 with Come Together and made 4 in the Charts,I am reliably informed by one of my Cousins.

Imagine has only ever been a John Lennon song, written.recorded and released as a solo single by him years after the Beatles broke up.So has never been a Beatles song ever as have none of Paul McCartneys, solo or with Wings or George Harrison solo since My Sweet Lord or also any of Ringo's from It Don't Come Easy in 1972.

I'll be eager to see Rebecca's, she could pretty much win it if she smashes it this week.

On the Cher/John Lennon debate, most of this shows include the beatles' solo work when they do this theme. Somebody doing Imagine on a Beatles theme is nothing new.

I have a feeling Rebecca is going to just clinch it in the final with a similar % to Shayne. Matt is great but I think his popularity will start to wain because it was so high in the first place, whereas Rebecca seems to be really emerging after going a bit quiet in the middle. The only way is up for her I think.

I don't think anyone else stands a chance really

People say that every year but talent always prevails (apart from last year, but the same demographic will have been voting for Lloyd)

when there is a good, likable female in shows like this, the public really get behind them

IMO talent prevailed last year; Joe had a much better voice than Olly and Stacey, but he surely clinched it through a teen girl demographic, minor thing but yeah...

I don't think it did, there were more talented contestants who went out earlier on. Stacey and Olly were the weakest in their respective categories and Joe was pretty far down the pecking order in terms of the top 12. Even though Joe won I still think Cheryl couldn't have ballsed up any more spectacularly and she put the complete wrong three through

There's loads better songs to give Matt than that. Hello Goodbye would be a good start, or them high notes... Paperback Writer.

Oh definitely, but of the three finalists I mean. Miss Frank, Rachel, Lucie, Jamie and Danyl all had more in the way of talent IMO. I didn't watch the audition stages much last year, but she definitely shouldn't have put Lloyd through and Rikki was completely mismanaged. Cheryl got very lucky.

Not ALL Beatles songs are wonderful....or Lennon songs for that matter. eg. One after Nine o Nine and Dig a Pony.....utter tripe.

Last year was weak but I believe the right three were in the final. Lucie went too early but wasn't going to win it. Danyl was good early on but the public hated him. He knew it and faded away. As for this year it is way too early to say who is going to win, and One Dimension are too popular with the teenies to be simply dismissed.
