Last series was great- but that was mainly down to Christopher Eccleston. It'll be interesting to see how David Tennant does.

It's on again tonight at 7:05 pm on BBC 3.

I thought the first episode was pretty good, not spectacular but good. The story was okay - the infected zombie bit reminded me of '28 Days Later' (but more fun) and the body-swapping stuff reminded me of several episodes of Red Dwarf.

The performances were very good though. I was never completely sold on Chrisopher Ecclestone's Doctor and I actually think, based on this and the Christmas episode, that David Tennant could be better.

'Doctor Who' return draws 8 million
The highly anticipated return of Doctor Who topped the ratings on Saturday night, although figures were down on the last series.

New Earth, the first episode of series two, averaged 7.99 million viewers and a 38.6% audience share for BBC One between 7.15pm and 8pm. The numbers were good enough for first for the day but were down on the 9.4 million who watched the Christmas Day special and also down on the 10 million who tuned in to last year's opener.

Second episode was good fun, with a well-done CGI monster.

Did think though that, like last week, that the story resolved itself very easily. The words 'deus ex machina' spring to mind.

What the
That has to be the worst Doctor Who ever, Peter Kay sucks.
He was awful in the show and is just rubbish I don't know why his terrible shows are so popular.

Completely agree, worst I've seen in a long time. It's a shame, cos the two epsiodes before it were probably my faves from the new series.

Doctor Who can do funny, but it works better when people are playing it straight. Trying to be funny and then looking at the cameras for the laughs just doesn't work.

Peter Kay was truly awful he is an appalling actor and unfunny comedian, his shows are just dreadful. He ruined the entire episode.

Marc Warren was good, though I kept waiting for the picture to freeze and him wander about explaining what was going on. If he returned I don't think it would be a bad thing.

I'm enjoying these new series, I really didn't appreciate the previous doctor quiting because he didn't want to be typecast.

Why go on a cult series as the main character if you don't want to be typecast!!!

The new companion what we saw, didn't seem too bad, but I will miss Rose (and Billy Piper isn't bad on the eyes either).

It has been confirmed that 27 year old actress Freema Agyeman will take over from Billie Piper as Doctor Who’s sidekick.

Agyeman will play Martha Jones in the new series of the hit BBC1 TV show.

Agyeman has featured on Doctor Who before; last Saturday viewers saw the character of Adeola suffer at the hands of the Cybermen.

Doctor Who writer, Russell T Davies said of their Rose replacement: "The search for a new companion had been underway for some time when I first saw Freema Agyeman, she had come in to audition for the part of Adeola in series two.

"Watching her during filming confirmed what an exciting new talent she was, so under cover of darkness we called her back in to audition with David for the role of the new companion.

"It was an immediate and sensational combination, and her range, presence and charm blew us all away.

"David and Freema are terrific together, and we're delighted to have chosen her to join the Doctor for more adventures in time and space.”

Freema Agyeman said of her new role: "I've been keeping this secret from my friends for months - it's been driving me mad!

"Auditioning with David in secret down in Cardiff was unbelievable, but I never in my wildest dreams thought I'd actually become the new companion.

"Billie rightfully built up an amazing fan base and she will be missed, but I hope the fans are willing to go on new adventures with me.”

Doctor Who actor David Tennant has also welcomed Agyeman to the show saying: "Freema was a joy to work with in episode 12 of the current series. She is not only very talented and very beautiful, she's great fun and I'm delighted she's coming on board the TARDIS full time.

"I can't wait to welcome her into the Who family."

The new series of Doctor Who starts filming in Cardiff this summer…

What a strange way to end then.

The photo (THANK YOU SO MUCH) looks very much like the leading lady and sexy one at that from the film, Knights Tale, and The Order/Sin Eater.

Thanks for the info.

God we're doing nothing to show Dr Who has the Vibrant, thrusting and young fan base are we!

Reg_Eneration
17-07-2006, 02:26 AM
This is true. But we can't be expected to be vibrantly thrusting 24/7 can we? I mean, it would be unseemly... no to mention exhausting
