There were rumours after UBB ended that there could well be another CBB next year after the big hype that this was the end of BB on channel 4, has there been any info since about it?

Only asking as I saw a few friends posting about it on FB the other day and only just remembered to ask on here. :)

Jordan.

It was confirmed in September by one producer and the creative director [The bastard behind BB11's Quad] that it would not be returning, Well CBB8 anyway.

Thank god too.
I literally wanted to die when I heard they could of brung that back.

Jordy, Have you heard of The Golden Cage by the way? [Just seen that you mentioned in a post above this about how you wish it gets brung back in 2 years]

I remember it being brought up back in the day (feels like flipping ages ago BB was on!) but completely forgot what its gonna be about now, LOL.

Lol it's The Real World meets Big Brother.

They basically live in a Villa and it can go on for a year or more depending on how long the people are determined to stay in there to win One Million quid.

They are allowed to leave the Villa and go outside the house to the town, to do jobs, tasks and party etc

There is no eliminations and we don't vote, the only game play is to try and make people leave so you can stay.

Sounds quite amazing really.

They said they'd either use that [The original idea for Big Brother back in 1999] or go with Big Brother 12 UK.

I'd so prefer BB12 but I can't see it happening :(

Ikr
It's been like 3 months but it seems like a year ago, I reckon it's because of UBB and stuff aswell.

Makes BB11 seem like so so long ago lol

But even Ultimate Big Brother seems like months ago too :bawling:

Oh wow I never really did understand the theory of it but that actually sounds quite good. I would probably prefer BB12 too as I like the whole nominating/evicting thing but the gameplay in this could be really good. Is this or BB12 definitely gonna happen?

Haha it was months ago technically but it feels like it was at the start of the year or something.

I want BB12 to happen SO badly. If not Summer 2011 it needs to happen Summer 2012.

It's a shame there is no more English speaking Big Brother left in this format anymore with BB Australia axed as well.

The thought of BB returning fills me with dread for some reason. Even if it was on C4 as usual I dont think id bother

This.

I'll just watch BB USA [Like one series to give it a shot, maybe BB11 as I like Jordan] and then watch BB AUS.

So much BB Hate on A Big Brother forum it's unreal.

It's not BB hate. If anything it's BB love. People are realistic enough to not want it to go on forever continually loosing viewers and continually getting worse and worse.

I love Big Brother but I never want it to come back. Ever. The way I love and remember it is done and dusted. They can't rehash it, and anything new will inevitably be a crushing dissapointment.

They messed UBB up so much, that i reckon they just want rid of the whole brand. And to think, CBB was getting better in the last few years too.

If you mean 'CBB was getting better in the last TWO years' then yeah you're bang on right because CBB6 and CBB7 were amazing.

But CBB5 was the little bastard that made Channel 4 give up Big Brother and people can disagree with me on that all they like, but if Jade hadn't of went back into the house that year Big Brother would still be here.

So it's that reason why I went off CBB really after that but yeah there's been some CBB's better than some original series such as CBB4, that was brilliant.

But Big Brother's Original Series will always come out on top, It'd be horrible if they did CBB8 in January after getting rid of Big Brother.

I agree Patrick. The jade situation changed everything regarding BB. The Jade incident changed how they edit the programme, it became more PC, after a while, less people watched it and in general, it DID harm the programme.

How anyone can deny that is baffling and who knows, perhaps if that racist incident didn't happen, BB might still be here.

If CBB turns up on Channel 5 and is anything like CBB7, I will be so happy. CBB7 was

CBB4 is the single best series of Big Brother ever. Period.

CBB3 had its moments and gave is the immortal 'yeah, Jackie'.

CBB1 and 2 were basically a completely different show because they were for Comic Relief and were only a week long, its unfair to compare them.

CBB5 was terrible with or without the race row. CBB6 was awful too and to cite that as "BB getting better" really is shocking for a BB fan to be saying.

CBB7 was a really good series but not a patch on CBB3, 4 or BB5 and 6.

I think BB would have been axed whether or not the race row happened. Before the race row CBB5 was only averaging 3.5m viewers which at the time was terrible- the celebrity series before it had 4.9m and the summer series 4.7m.

I'd hate for Big Brother to turn up on Channel 5 now - by the sounds of things they're turning it in to OK! TV

Which is why they need Big Brother.

Um, Like Tom just said it was actually getting 3.5 Million before the race row, so it was probably down to the sh*t cast and the boring series in general which basically meant that CBB5 killed Big Brother then now that we have what Tom just said and the Jade thing to back that up.

It's rather funny though,
Big Brother 5 was EASILY one of the best series, it was fantastic and they got everything spot on. The housemates were brilliant, the boring one was even entertaining at times [Shell] and the production team were so amazing and quick to react to things like the protest it made for hilarious viewing.

Celebrity Big Brother 5 on the other hand.. completely different story :(

I thought bringing back CBB would be good, last CBB was awesome and they did really well with it. Its going to be like I'm A Celeb, with a different format.

Oh wait, having said that; maybe they wont do that

Patrick
27-11-2010, 05:11 PM
Yeah but it's just RIDICULOUS to even have a Celebrity Big Brother without the normal series, it's like you're basically having a spin off without the real show and it's kind of weird.

I actually want to rewatch CBB7 though it's hard to think it's almost a year old :(

They should do I'm A Celebrity format but with non-celebrity people.

They basically do that anyway seeing as the celebrities are always Z Listers bar about 2.

I hope they pick up 'The Golden Cage' instead of BB and they could mimick the CBB format (Celebrity Cage) if they want that too

From what I remember, I really enjoyed CBB5. Either I have a crap memory and it was actually crap, or I just have sh*t taste, I thought BB11 was brilliant after all..

What are Richard Desmond's plans?

I hope BB comes back next summer.

What are Richard Desmond's plans?

There's more chance of me becoming a housemate than that happening.

Next Summer, as in 2012 then yes, maybe.

But this coming Summer 2011, there's no chance.

They would have to get everything organized and auditions well under way very soon and Richard Desmond hasn't mentioned a thing and neither has Endemol since I think September or early October when they were talking about BB12 or The Golden Cage :(

You never know, they could try The Golden Cage [Which may be as simple as an audition process as what ITV2 did with The Only Way Is Essex, So No Hassle] and it could flop and fall on it's arse like Seven Days did on C4.

Then they could either say '****** That Then' and not do anything.

Or hopefully, Say 'Right, No Second Series of that.. Let's give BB12 A Shot'. ;)

But I can't see it coming in 2011 really.

We will find out offically in January 2011, that's when they are announcing the lineup.

Hoping for BB or at least The Golden Cage. But if they do a Golden Cage thing I think they should change the format a bit, the idea that it could go on and on and on makes it seem boring and I doubt it would last more than one season. When they did it in Holland it didn't get very good ratings so I don't really understand why they'd try it in the UK where it's even less likely to succeed. Like I said, they would have to make alterations to the format and actually have evictions instead of a "last one to not quit".

It would be perfect if they had about 15 strangers in there, all locked in a massive mansion and vying to own the mansion and gain a large cash prize. Each week someone is voted out within the house, not by the public. It would last about 13-14 weeks perhaps. There would probably be alot of backstabbing and fighting!

I think they should just use the BB USA format under The Golden Cage name. I'd watch that. But if they do a BBUK-esque format then I probably won't bother
