Been listening to some Christmas tunes on my iPod.

1984

2004

It got me thinking how they should release more of these charity singles like with 'All Star' singers every few years.

I would love if they did one, obviously for charity.

And I would rather the funds went to something like, you guessed it, Cancer Research but they can't make a song about a woman discovering a lump on her tit.

So it'd have to be for black dieing babies in Africa again, Fair enough.

The closest we've got to a modern day 'Band Aid' was probably this time last year:

I was wondering, if you were to organize a Band Aid song.. who would you have in the line up and what would you call it?

You know there was another one right? It just sucked even harder than the 2004 one and nobody remembers it.

I just realised, they should've release that WarChild song in December '09, it would of been a far more worthy Christmas Number One than Rage Against The Machine.

Anyway, My List:

Pixie Lott
Cheryl Cole
N-Dubz
Example
Katy Perry
Eliza Doolittle
Lady GaGa
Dizzee Rascal
Westlife
JLS
Bruno Mars

I beg to differ about the song you put in the post, I think the modern day one is this and uses far bigger names than Young Soul Rebels

That kind of flopped, it never took off at all really.

I know what you mean about the bigger names though but in the Young Soul Rebels ones, they did use some big names atm in the UK such as N-Dubz and Pixie Lott wither you like or hate them.

It hardly flopped, it went to #1 whilst YSR only went to #10

Band aid was quality i love the original... i love parts of the band aid 20, but i didnt like the rapping really..

I think they should wait until its 30 years before they do another.

And sorry patrick but that is a terrible line up.

Number 1 in the UK & 453,000 copies sold in its first week.

That is not a flop

I know.

I based it on artists that usually appear in the charts today as that's what usually happens when they do these Band Aid songs.

And realisticly if they were to do another Band Aid, they would get some of the people I put on my list like it or not, just because they've been in the charts many times.

No one heard of it after about a week.

And yes it was a flop compared to Band Aid 20 and the Original [And Better] Version.

It was a charity single relating to a specific world event at a specific time. Not something to be played on David Gest's Generic Top 50 countdown every month, or something that would set radio playlists alight for years to come.

Paul Mccartney
Chris Martin

Assuming it will be the same patronising vanity vehicle as usual with shite celebs pretending they care about people, my nominations are...

Bono
Esther Rantzen
Noel Edmonds
Al Gore
The Jackson family
Ewen McGregor
Sting
Heather Mills

Eoghan Quigg - SO UNDERATED, the modern McCartney
Justin Beiber - Again todays Geldof
Taylor Swift
Dappy
Tinchy Stryder

30 Seconds To Mars are so pretentious that they actually transcend something as pretentious as Band Aid.

Since this has become a bizarre wish list thread with no consideration whatsoever on behalf of some members for realism or how the artists will integrate here is mine :

Ant & Dec
The reanimated corpse of Rick James
Erasure
Cradle Of Filth
Morrissey
Nadia Almada
John Cena
G-Unit
The Magic Numbers
The Ting Tings
The Priests
Orbital
New Order
Yusuf 'Cat Stevens' Islam

Such deep lyrics when you look beyond the exterior...

Stu, I think that list is just...WOW. I have always dreamed of seeing Nadia propped up to Rick James with Ant and Dec leading the vocals. I swear it's missing something though, I could really see Carol McGiffin next to Cradle of Filfth.

I could really see Carol McFiffin next to Cradle Of Filth too. If it involved her bare breasted on her knees, with the Filth boys ready to turn it to eleven.

N dubs and bruno mars? I really doubt it.

And surely Alesha Dixon and Take that + Robbie would be there as they are some of the more charitable celebrities.

are you joking?

and rage are quality.

I agree about the list, but rage didnt deserve number 1, a christmas song should.
