Dont know if its already posted but Mary has apparently comfirmed one of the the two songs they are performing will be rock songs.

Rumoured songlist (so far):

* Katie Waissel – Sex On Fire by the Kings of Leon
* Mary Byrne – All I Want Is You by U2 and Brass in Pocket by The Pretenders
* Wagner – Creep by Radiohead and Addicted to Love by Robert Palmer
* Cher Lloyd – Walk This Way by Aerosmith
* Matt Cardle – Welcome To The Jungle by Guns N’Roses

Rock week, with these acts, really only Matt can possibly shine this week,One Direction doing a Rock song, Mary and Katie too, what a stupid theme with the acts that are remaining.

I think katie will do well for Rock week, as will (as much as it pains me to say) Matt, possibly Wagner too.

Normally I do,I love Rock week usually,it can be one of the stronger tests for the acts, I just don't see any real capable Rock voices, except for Matt who is very versatile in his range.

I agree Wagner will likely be a hoot, but really the others, still maybe I will be proved wrong, I was surprised at Joe Mcelderry last year on Rock week.

mary has a very powerful voice which will be great for rock, I think Matt and Cher will do great too. Not too sure about rebecca and One direction and Katie and wagner will be brutal as always

Cher could do Walk This Way. Rap already included :)

Maybe Matt could remind Bon Jovi how to sing one of their songs.

Well from reading above the suggestions of songs for the acts, maybe it could be a really good week, it certainly would be if Dr Gonzo, legend killer and Niamhxo were picking their songs.

Also, finally, this will be a great chance for Rebecca to break some new ground. Please, for the love of fictional Jesus, give her something ballsy she can rock that effortless voice to. I'm thinking... Crying by Aerosmith.

I think One Direction and Katie will be good, for some reason I can't picture Matt or Mary pulling off rock songs, I'm the complete opposite to everyone else in this thread haha. Interested to see how Rebecca fares... Cher doing Walk This Way seems like a likely bet to me: there's scope for rapping and Girls Aloud covered it.

I can't see Mary pulling it off but Matt defo, he's got that husky voice (apart from when he goes into falsetto obviously lol) that should work, and decent power in his voice too.

I'd actually love to hear him sing this, might be a bit before a lot of people's time on here though *suddenly feels like a granny*

I'd love to see a theme where they go 'Back in time' and sing one song they sang in their XF time.

From Auditions, Bootcamp, Judges Houses and The Live Shows.

That way we'd get Cher singing a new and improved version of Turn My Swag On, and Wagner could sing LURV SHACK! LA LA LURV SHACK!

Terrible theme - infact most of them have been terrible this year. If we're having themes like Rock and The Beatles, why can't we have Big Band Week?

There is a massive loophole here and Mary could do Mariah Carey-Without You (originally a rock song). But that songs an omen on this show, if you perform it you're either eliminated that night or you win the whole thing

O, and I'll tell Cheryl to cheer the ******* up or she's sacked.

But I won't let it go to my head.

I think many people think of ROCK and picture Heavy Metal and blokes with long hair, but Rock covers many artists with varying styles.
The main thing to distinguish Rock is that it is usually associated with Electric & Bass Guitars, Drums and possibly Keyboards.

Journey fall into that catagory and is why McEldery did ok with Dont Stop Believing. Its not so much the vocal..its the music behind it. Heart were a group with a female vocal that could sing very soft songs, but were very much a Rock Band.
I think Tina Turner could be described as Rock for certain songs.
The Pretenders (Brass in Pocket) originated from Punk i believe.

Wiki describes sub-genres of Rock as soft rock, glam rock, heavy metal, hard rock, progressive rock, and punk rock, which just about covers most of what the current XF acts can do.

I would've liked to see Rebecca or Matt do Athlete-Wires and Cher do Coldplay- Yellow. Its a shame Treyc still isn't in to do Creep again. And although I hated them and they were crap, would've liked to see that girlband do A Punk by Vampire Weekend.

Verily. I used to really like her but I've gone right off her this year. I think she's starting to believe her own hype. I'm not a hater, but it's just how it strikes me.

Numb and My Generation or Walk This Way and Just Like A Pill:).

The Beatles & Elton John are pretty relevant through their achievements in music and their influence in new artists and I'd say Rock is too wide a genre to ever be considered irrelevant.
