They make me feel ill everytime they come on every christmas with their 3 Number Ones
How were they ever popular?
God, I'm glad I only lived in the last few years of the 90s, would of died if I lived an earlier I swear.
They look like idiots trying to act all epic and cool when they aren't.
Victoria Becham is and never was fit, she looks like a Parrot.
The black one looks like a Monkey with her hair.
The other one is just a fail that looks as if she's trying to be Victoria Becham but is failing at it.
The Ginger one is like meh.
The little blonde one is ******ing fit

Bring on the hate from people like Shaun claiming I shouldn't listen to Music.
lmao, they didn't have much talent but they were so infectious and people enjoyed them, they were entertaining.
& they had more than 3 #1's I think.

5 next door girls with Girl Power! Had a total of 9 number 1 sisngles and are the most successful girl band of all time! They are one of my all time fave bands of all time and my first ever music obsession! They released many merchendice and had very successful tours. My fave Spice Girl will always be Geri
...their debut album, Spice, sold more than 23 million copies worldwide, becoming the best-selling album by a female group in music history. They have sold over 75 million records worldwide with only four albums and twelve singles, making them the best selling girl group of all time.

The 90's > Now. Music is awful nowadays. Back then music wasn't about sex and hot girls.

Because each decade has a wave of poular music. They triggered the 'Girl band' and 'girl power' trend. This decade so far seems to be rubbish dance music and pointless glee cast style music :bored:

But the Gaga is here to save us all with her amazing songs.
To reply to the thread, the Spice Girls were like Britney in her early years. They both had writers who knew how to appeal to a younger audience and write catchy songs. Only Britney's ones are more betterer.

They were fun and they had great songs and it was about GIRL POWER! They were my first ever obsession and I still love them now. Just perfect pop music.

on the contrary, I agree  they were utterly talentless, as proven by their disastrous solo ventures (well, ignoring their success...the songs were awful)

None of them have sustained a singing career though. Emma is somehow a judge on Dancing on Ice and presents 'Lorraine' some Fridays, Mel B pops up on Loose Women every now and again whilst pretending to live in America, the ginger one was last seen being booed on X Factor, the sporty I have no idea about and Victoria is in fashion.
They were so successful because they were manufactured down to the nth degree and down to their characters- every girl could relate to one of them
But they're sh*t. Girls Aloud > Spice Girls :blush2:

Like the Spice Girls are any better. Her songs are catchy and unique. And unlike other artists, she actually writes them all herself. She ain't halfassed. Oh and she sings live. Gaga is awesome, and deep down you know it but are too afraid to admit it :p

Well they had it. God know what it is, but it's 'it'. They had some catchy tunes anyway, who cares what they did after they were mega at the time
They were current, there's no other answer.

as much as I love gaga and want her babies, she has nothing to do with this. She shouldn't be brought up like all the time.
The black one looks like a Monkey with her hair.
Do you know how racist that sounds?
Lady Gaga is rubbish dance music...
Wrong.

Lady Gaga is always good in clubs. I don't really like her music outside of them but even Alejandro goes down well

oh and the 90s = pretty much the worst decade for music. all of the obsessions with popular mainstream stuff we have today, without the availability of alternatives online.

they were popular because of the whole girl power thing, they were a gimmick sold to the teenage girls at the time, like that twat Bieber is doing now, each generation has it's own pile of crap

They made great pop music. You don't sell that many records just on some girl power gimmick. People loved their music. Maybe you didnt but millions of others did.
And its very different to Bieber because they appeal to girls for very different reasons. Plus his songs havent made the same memorable impact.

I think you do tbh, teenage girls are an easy target. I'm not really a pop fan as such but compared to other pop singers/groups their music was pure tripe.
because he's still around, it's only a memory after they're gone.

Well just because you say its "pure tripe" doesn't make it such. Thats your subjective opinion. As a pop fan I still love their music and I certainly didnt care about the girl power craze! And if you think only young girls bought their music then you're very very mistaken.
Just accept that many people did(and still do) actually love their music in its own right. Its very patronising and ignorant to suggest otherwise. Im sure I could find some of your musical tastes to be "pure tripe" too. :p
How's your bunions btw?

lmao, I don't mean to be patronizing Zippy but all of what I said is just my opinion, if you don't agree with me, that's you prerogative but It doesn't change my opinion on them. I was a teenage girl when they were popular and the the only people I knew who liked them were other teenage girls so that's where I get my reasoning behind it.
I'm sure you would think alot of what I like is tripe but you would of course be completely wrong:tongue:
I hope that last question wasn't a sly dig at my age Mr.:nono::bawling:
It's fair to say that the vast majority of their initial audience didn't get aboard the wagon after some revelation about the sound of the Spice Girls.
Notice I didn't say everyone. I said the vast majority.
