No doubt about it for me, his voice is so powerful and rich with emotion. Tonights performance coupled with that one he did two or three weeks ago have got to be up there with the best performances ive seen on the show.

His voice is amazing. When he sang 'the first time' I must have listened to it about 60 times over and over on YouTube

True but he is so bland.

I think Rebecca's the best singer, then Matt.
But he does have a really good voice, he's just normally boring.

I agree, but he isn't my favourite. I can love him for his voice, but thats about it for me

Seriously does anyone want Matt to work under Cowell?, he ruined Jamie last year by trying to turn him into a popstar when he was at his best with Rock, he's a total hypocrite and Matt would be better under a different recording label IMO:)...

He did sing it spectacularly well. Fantastic singer and seems to be quite a humble chap into the bargain. He's a delight to watch and to listen to.

Simon only likes them while they have to lick his arse.. once they get famous enough to go it alone he gets competitve and bitchy with them.

Indeed it's just about the cash/controversy/marketability etc, we hardly hear a word out of his mouth about his pet Leona, it's more about Alexandra and JLS but that will be changed into One Direction till next year:joker:.

I agree Cowell would ruin what he is about, but i think there is some sort of clause when you join the x factor that once you appear on the show you cant join another label untill 3 years have passed. Im not entirely sure that this is the case but i remember hearing something along those lines last year or so.
If that is the case, then he has no choice but to let Cowell take control over him. Otherwise its go into hibernation for 3 years, accept that the public will forget about you and try to make a fresh start from that. Which of course would be extremly difficult.

In that song he didn't do anything, he just stood there. D:
It was the best performance of his ever though actually... he sounded much better than normal.
Still, Matt's better in every way.

Tonight was the first time I've actually really liked him, since like the first week of the live shows. Don't think he'll win though, but he'll probably do well anyway.

Rebecca is right there with Matt but you are right he is astonishing.
Put it this way - If you wanted to make an example of the very very best in singing and what is the very worst on stage?
Go to Youtube X-Factor and watch Matt and Katie back-to-back.
The gap between them is the gap between 'lowest requirements' and 'ideal excellence'.

Matt and rebecca are both fantastic, she always gets it right, he doesn't but when he does he surpasses her imo which is why he's just about ahead for me

Anyone can just sing though, he's ten a penny at the moment. I want to see something unique to him and his own style but nothing is sticking out except for being a good singer. If he wins or otherwise he'll be a massive flop because from what I see there's nothing there.
I'd probably take him out of my sig if I could be bothered to, he's been disappointing too many times now.

Yep, and Rebecca has, at times, squeaked to my top spot (though they are very close imo),
but,
Matt, tonight, though I wasn't crazy about "i love rocknroll" he just about won X-Factor with 'Knights in White Satin.'
I think I just saw the winning performance. Amazing.
To put this in perspective (speaking of the gaps in talent) this is what I see when I watch X-Factor (for weeks now).
There is an amateur talent show. Pop Idol wannabe competition.
Each week, 'last years winner' Rebecca is 'returning' to show off what the best talent winners can become and make of themselves!
Each week they have a guest appearance by a top singer and international recording star - Matt Cardle.
Afterward everyone in the talent show wants to get Matt Cardles autograph and ask Rebecca lots of questions about what its like to start a career.
This is what I feel I may as well be watching now if you see what I mean?

Big fan of Matt. I wasn't really into his first song--I just didn't feel it. But his second song was one of my favourites I've ever seen on the show.

I agree, 'the singing contest' would stink as a title for the show...
