Ant and Dec have labelled Chantelle Houghton a celebrity "trick' gone bad.

The pair, who are currently starring in their first film, 'Alien Autopsy', think the 'Celebrity Big Brother' winner's desire to be famous has gone too far.

Dec revealed to Britain's Arena magazine: "Chantelle is like a trick played on celebrities that has got out of hand.

"I'm not sure that would happen in any other country."

He added: "Celebrity used to be a by product of your day job, but now it's just a day job to be a celebrity. That never used to exist before.

"I wonder how many kids now do want to be firemen and policemen and nurses and stuff, and how many kids just want to be famous.

"It's a sad kind of reflection."

But the pair - who have presented reality TV shows 'Pop Idol' and 'I'm a Celebrity

… Get Me Out of Here' - insist they are not threatened by this new breed of stars.

Ant said: "It's no challenge to what I do.

"If they're in the paper more than me, then that's good. It's very curious though, it'll be interesting to see what happens.'

duno it just seems untrue thats all! ant and dec are lush i never thought in a million years they would say anything like that, a while ago there was articles in the paper ages ago stating they were having a gay relationship, i somehow think its rumours, maybe it isnt though

Ant and Dec annoy me no end, so I'm going to have to side with Chantelle on this one. If Ant and Dec can be celebs, I don't see why she can't be.

I think their comments have probably been taken out of context. It sounds to me like they're not actually having a go at Chantelle personally - more at the current culture of making celebrities who are only famous for being famous (or in Chantelle's case, only famous for not being famous - being a non-celeb on a celeb show)!

I appreciate they were asked about her, but they could just have been diplomatic. Ant would know that his comments would get in the papers.

Why bother mopping up a spill, when it will dry eventually anyway? Why go to work when you can sign-on instead? Why bother to get yourself an education and/or work hard when you can have it given to you on a plate just because you're a gullible bimbo?

The comments were quite accurate, so there's really no need for diplomacy under the circumstances.

Thats a bit of a trite argument. If we were to carry on that logic, what state would the world be in?

Why do anything? Why not rob a bank? Because its wrong. Why not vandalise a church? Its wrong.

I think you need to channel your negativity into something more positive. Just think what you could achieve.
