Another big reason why Big Brother has ended is because i think far too many times did we see real good characters go into Big Brother who give opinions, were controversial and didn't go down the typical reality tv route in order to win (see Rachel Rice, Ulrika) and people for some very odd reason kept voting these characters out.

A lot of good characters left Big Brother too early because they dared be different, they dared to stir it up and for me, its one of the big reasons why the show has finished.

...wait, so you're saying BB ended because there wasn't enough characters like Rachel Rice? Because that's exactly why it ended. Too many of those characters and too many times that the clueless voters evicted more entertaining housemates. Sorry if I've not understood your post correctly.

The OP was criticising Rachel Rice.

Though watching Bex get evicted over Mohammed was one of the greatest eviction moments ever. BB thrives on villains getting their comeuppance and BB9 was full of villains (though only Rex reached the final).

No, what im saying is too many people like Rachel rice did WELL. That was the problem. Too many characters got voted off too early and we needed some great winners. A lot of winners were garbage.

We just needed entertaining ones until the end really. A good winner would be the icing on the cake.

God I miss bb9

Fans have been saying to the producers for years that the system should be Vote to Save, but the ****wits never listened.

Its almost as if the producers wanted rid of BB. Hince why it will not come back.

But look at Im a Celebrity, great ratings, year in year out.

The whole point of Big Brother was that it was an unpopularity contest, not a popularity contest until the final week. That format worked well for the first 7-9 years, there is no reason why come BB10 it was all suddenly different.

They earn more money when it's vote to EVICT. I agree it should be vote to save ALL THE WAY through!! Like IAC.

They got the housemates wrong in series 10. I remember before bb10 started it was on the radio that "these are the best housemates ever" or something. I remember people started complaining on facebook "why are they all ethnic minorities" or something. Lol racists! BB10 did have an epic first week. Because of the twists and tasks. The explosive row between Sophia and Saffia. There should have been more fun likeable people like Freddie. I don't know what went wrong with the cast with bb10 when bb9 was quite good :S

bb11 was pretty dull too.

Anyway if it does come back. Straight away it ALWAYS has to be a vote TO SAVE!! NO CHANGING. It needs to be like IAC.

Yeah, the arrogant PEJ always thought he knew better, despite declining viewing figures year-on-year .....

No, it didn't - after BB5, viewing figures declined gradually and voting figures declined dramatically - virtually all of the HMs in BB6 were NPOWs and highly unpopular - that proved the undoing of the show - and the highly unpopular Goody sealed its fate .....

Viewing figures didn't decline after BB5, they went up for BB5 (and BB3) but settled down to the levels that the other series' all got between 2000 and 2006. BB8 and 9 were both half hearted attempts at a series but the ratings still held up fairly well but they completely gave up for BB10 and the ratings fell to laughable levels. Its not a coincidence.

I don't think Jade is completely responsible but its definitely a factor. People were just sick of it after BB7 anyway and BB7 took Big Brother about as far as it could go

Not enough youngsters

Trying to put people in with different beliefs and cultures didn't really work

I think Vote to Evict went bad because from BB8 onwards there were a lot of dull characters.

After BB5's 5.1m, BB6 and BB7 managed an adequate series average of 4.6m and 4.7m respectively, but BB8's 3.9m declined to 2.9m by BB11 :

But BB1, 2, 4, 6 and 7 all had 4.6m or 4.7m viewers

The BB8/9 figures were crap at the time but still v good for Channel 4 and still won their slot

BB1 and BB2 - 4.5m

BB4, of course, is the series that everyone derides but it managed 4.6m, which only the alleged popular BB7 beat, by a mere 100k .....
