Its still being paid for by the student loans company, the only difference is it will take longer to pay it off than usual and it comes out at an unnoticable amount each month anyway. And most of the degrees that people are moaning about (mainly health and public services) remain largely unaffected anyway

Sorry, I meant that about when you said "oh well. I'll live." - To me this was interpreted as "Oh well, it won't effect me". It was this that I meant can be seen as an attitude of the Thatcher generation of "There is no such thing as society" - if it wont effect you, it doesn't matter.

Absolutely effing disgraceful. Every one who took part 'to this degree' should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.
Disrespectful reprobates. So cowardly some of them are that they have to cover up their faces... why?? Not that 'big' really that they've got to protect their identity - not so for the cause when it comes down to accountability. Cowards.
I feel so proud that these are supposed to be the most intelligent and the future of our country.

The rioters all look exactly what they are,a bunch of out of control thugs, defacing property and national monuments, attacking our police force and our future king. They are a total disgrace to this country and I hope that those that can be identified are caught, prosecuted and end up with a criminal record that will follow them all their lives. It's no more than they deserve.

I think everyone was as bad as each other. The minority of police, minority of protesters and well, the government and Nick Clegg.
My best friend was kettled into the area and asked to leave as she was getting stuck in the middle of the crowd, she managed to make it to the front to politely ask the police to let her go, not only because she was scared and it was getting violent, but she wanted to watch Coronation Street, before she managed to say anything, the policeman hit her with the baton and she was driven to hospital. There are some recordings of the police beating innocent people who PLEADED to get out of the kettle, they better be careful because the small amount of the police will go to court if the recordings are shown.
So it's not all the protesters fault (there were over 29,000 peaceful protesters, and like 400 violent ones (most were probably not students).
However, i think the people who did the violence and crimes and URINATED on the memorials should be punished.
Angus
10-12-2010, 07:11 PM
If the majority of "peaceful" students are too dim and naive to understand that their protests are now being hijacked by rent-a-mob, then I can only conclude they haven't much hope in hell of going far in life, so their loss to the nation is negligible. Any intelligent student would, from the evidence of the past "peaceful protests", know that the most sensible thing would be to steer clear of any involvement and find other ways of making their feelings known that don't involve breaking the law.
Again zero sympathy from me for any students who got thumped by the police who are hardly able, in the heat of the moment, able to interview students to determine their intentions when they are in their faces! Any student who attended today knew full well how things would pan out, so if they got batterred, TOUGH!
Why is Nick Clegg getting all the bile for this anyway? He isn't even PM. And you can't explicitly say who is and who isn't a student.

I can understand at why Clegg is getting hammered in this dispute with Students, many Lib Dem seats were won largely by and with the Student votes and also Students 'help' in the campaign too.
Having said that as a Student, I believe the way to go forward now is to ensure that at every opportunity Students vote against the Lib Dems in any seat or Local election that they can.
I was not there but I am appalled at the events of yesterday, I am sickened that the Royal car was attacked, Students have to see that these protests will be infiltrated by people wanting to cause trouble, Students also have to see that the press and media are just waiting for such bad things taking place so they can fill their papers and programmes with it.
These forms of protests are not the way anymore, the times we live in now with threats of all sorts of violence and terrorism from a variety of sources, means these protests often are doomed before they start. Time to stop them.
Get revenge through the ballot box, that is where politicians get hurt most when they lose, this is not the way anymore.
It is near impossible to get a peaceful protest march anymore as some will always abuse it and hijack it,time to stop, use the ballot box. Make that and votes count.

Yep, Charlie Boy is a typical spoilt rich brat, no need for him to be there at all as uni fees are but a drop in the ocean to his multi millionaire dad - it's obvious he's there just to cause trouble and if he was high on drugs, even more shameful. Plenty of pix of him causing all sorts of trouble - hope they throw the book at him.
Same with the Meadows kid whose mum is obviously on a good salary so what's he bleating about paying a bit more for his education? She even attended the protest with him, greedy cow. The middle classes are the worst offenders for having their snouts in every trough and know how to play the system to get the max out of every grant.
They are singlehandedly responsible for the demise of the assisted places scheme which was intended to help poor students, but ended up being a middle class freebie.

Funny how arista is stunned now... why not take a look at this news video arista, I'm sure you will love it.
Watch from 1.30 arista, your so blind it's unreal. Why don't you actually take a fair look at the news arista rather than look at it from one aspect? The students are wrong, but the police here are so f--king wrong. It can't be justified. The police are neutral arista, I am sure if we didn't have the Conservatives in power you would be slagging them off something rotten for doing this.
Thats been shown on the News
nothing new to me.
There is also photos of Jody on the Front Line
next to the Police.
The Point is The Thugg Students start this.
Before this.
Not on this Video.

Pulled and Knocked around
the Point is he is only there
to get in the way of Police.
He did not have to be on the Front Line.
This is a Set Up.
Pathetic.
This is not from the papers
its from his many TVNews interviews
Yes... he was 'pulled and knocked around' by the police - but why?
FOR BEING THERE? Arista how on earth can you justify such treatment? Do you think it's fair to be treated like that? Do you think he posed a big threat?
And if you watch the video he isn't on the front line arista, he is 20yds back! How on earth are you so ignorant? And with the TV interview are you acknowledging the one by the BBC, the 'Bloated' co-operation. Do you think that interview was fair, where he was asked if he 'threw rocks' at the police - when he has cerebral palsy?
Your attitude stinks arista, get a grasp of the world, you can't have one biased outlook - the police were WRONG to do that.
Can you not acknowledge that fact? And answer the question, don't skirt around it with more rubbish.

Again all you have is a Video
You have no idea what went on before.
If the Police are found Wrong
then they will be dealt with.
But the Point is
you ignore , is the Students start this off,
by going over the Police Line.
The Students Alone are Guilty.

Arista, you are not answering my question - WERE THE POLICE RIGHT TO ACT LIKE THEY DID IN THIS CASE? YES or NO.
There, the idea is arista you answer this question... can you manage that, or will you spawn more of the same garbage again in hope I forget what I just asked.

Yes, he is at the front here? What of it? If you stand at the front of a protest now does that give the police the right to act like they did? Arista this is a supposed democratic, fair state. It isn't Zimbabwe.

"Yes, he is at the front here? What of it? "
Thats Why the Police got him later
he confirmed that.
He does not need to go up the Front.

Arista, what does that photo show? He was there, near the front at one point. What is he doing? Can you seem him attacking the police? Is he being violent?
Stop being ridiculious arista and face the police were wrong.
The police weren't, but I am -
Bang on right.

You do not know what went on before that attack.
He has still to bring a case against the Police.

Arista, lets just say then, in a 'hypothetical' situation for your mind, seeing as you have some conspiracy that Jody started jumping on the Police officers backs before this video or something...
If Jody didn't commit violent offences, were the Police RIGHT to throw him out of his wheelchair?
YES or NO?
Will you answer? Or does the computer say no?

If Jody did not commit
and violent offences - Of course he should not be pulled out of the chair.
But He was being Pushed at the Front line
while other chucked sticks and rocks.
Jody did Not have to be on that Front Line.

And he wasn't in the second case.
Point proven. Thanks arista for not always being so biased. For once, you have been bang on right. Even if it took some manipulation to get you to look at a case fairly.
Thank you, and good night.
