The globetrotters are not NBA.

the globetrotters are PANTO. It's for children.

Like Smokey the bear. "only you can prevent forest fires" (which is sound advice, i don't mean to devalue Smokey, just saying...)

Do you guys find that you are more loyal to teams/clubs? or players?

And if you are loyal to a team over players, as a foreigner, what makes you loyal to a specific team?

I think it's interesting to think that certain teams have internationl fans, and i wonder if like the internaional fans follow a patern. like forinstance, do most irish people support a specific team/ english, scottish german, etc....

or do you just pick one for yourself and stay loyal?

Like is there a specific team that most English NBA fans support? or does every english person pick whatever team they want? maybe lakers becaue there ar so many English stars living in Hollywood?
And like most irish fans support new england teams because of the high irish immigrant population?

Or is there no rhyme or reason to it? Just curious.

Well, I dont know about the NBA but I know quite a lot about the British fan base for the NFL. The most widly supported teams are either the best ones, the Pats being the prime example although some people choose to support then just for having "England" in their name. When the game first attracted a crowd in the 80's the top teams back then still have a fair few fans, like the Raiders and the 49ers, the Cowboys as well. Then the Dolphins are very popular over here, partly because everyone likes their location and then because of Dan Marino. A lot of the newer fans might choose to support one of the teams that have played over here in the UK as well, so teams like the Saints are growing in popularity no doubt.

That's what I know about the NFL anyway, not sure about the NBA

cool, thanks for the response. So it sounds like the NFl's strategy of bringing games to London really does have an effect then! it's creating loyal fans. Very cool.

And As a Raiders supporter, nice to hear that they are one of the more popular teams over there. :)

They're mainly popular among the more hardcore fans who have been following the game for 20 years, they managed to cement a fan base back in the 80s which is still managing to survive

Oh and, as a Broncos fan, you've just gone way down in my estimations

You're just lucky we weren't having this conversation this time last year when you were still the joke of the NFL :p

Oh, umm sorry, ****** you Oakland Faiders, you guys suck! How was it to have 7 seasons in a row not winning more than 5 games!?

Nah, I try to be realistic, and living across the pond does mean we might not share the ferocious hatred of our rivals as fans native to Denver do

It is true that Oakland has been very GENEROUS for the past few years. Look we don't have to show off, we believe in supporting the health of the league. But from time to time we have to put certain people back in place, certain upstarts don't show proper respect, so we have to be a bit heavy handed.

But i agree with your assessment, Oakland has been very generous in recent years, and some mistake that generosity for weakness, so we have to remind people of our fine legacy from time to time.

We arn't horny teenagers like most of the franchises out there. We've already proven ourselves many times over.

Nice excuse

We may be struggling this season but at least we arent owned by a complete and utter incompetent moron like Al Davis. We're just rebuilding right now you see, we're going to have to take a step or two backward to move forward but we'll be back to winning ways soon enough, with Tebow at the helm
