Word. And that's exactly what I expect Bethesda to do. Although I doubt flying will make a return given the city-in-wall design of the current engine, which is not changing unfortunately. Although I could be wrong and hopefully they have tweaked it and maxed out the hardware enough to allow for outdoor cities.

This is the best game I have ever played and has some of the best moments in a soundtrack put to any game. I have put down MW3 because this game is so amazing. This is the "Star Wars" of gaming, it's changed everything. This comes from someone who has been playing games for 30+ years.

The dragons are like constant sub bosses. I'm getting them every hour or so now. I don't think I'm going to like this game over Morrowind & Oblivion. I know it's still early to tell but the constant snow and tundra has nothing on the beauty of Oblivion or the foreign weirdness of Morrowind. I'm also not into the more streamlined Fallout way of levelling up. Even the way they are recycling the Fallout style "___ discovered" text annoys me.

But tiny, tiny sour grapes. It's an amazing game and I'll probably have done another ten hours of it between now and tommorow night. I wanna seek out the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild questlines and do them as they are normally the more colourful parts of these games.

I'm in Solitude now where I'm told there is a Bard's college. Awesome.

i found a shrine before but it was locked and i couldnt get in without a key

That quest was actually awful. I had to fight Pelagius's demons so I could go back to Skyrim and get out of his head. It was about ten minutes of Pelagius sleeping in a bed in the middle of a forest and I had to protect him by setting fire to hoardes of goats and midget versions of himself that tried to break into his dreams.

To get it you have to go to Solitude. Go to the far end of town down by the Bard's college and some homeless guy will stop you and give you the quest. He'll find you eventually if your walking the paths through the town.

this guys house burnt down and the next day he got with this slut so the villagers think he did it because his wife and kid died so somebody paid me to investigate and when i went to the house (nobody else would go coz they said it was cursed) the ghost of the kid was there and she said she would tell me who burned the house down if i played hide and seek with her and won but she could only play at night because 'she' (some other ghost bitch i presume) will only come out when its dark then the kid disappeared and i cant find her :hmph: i used the clairvoyance spell and it led me to the body of a merchant and she was also a ghost (she had a ghost horse too) but i think that has nothing to do with this quest coz she just galloped off and i couldnt catch her D: so idk how im supposed to find this ghost kid im hoping the other ghost she was talking about is some evil witch i get to fight or something

The difficulty spikes are getting insane now. It's like playing Morrowind again. One on one with a tiger with the difficulty on easy takes serious hacking away with constant healing.

I really need to focus on one questline. That quest menu has become a scary, massive bucket list.

I'm a student of magic at the college of winterhold now. I mean that. I'm a student. Someone gave me a guided tour earlier on, I had to attend a lecture then, and we've just been on our first field trip where I've learned - would you believe it - that I'm a choosen one of some sort.

In my dorm is a Khajiit who is just there to steal things and an elf who can get you banned items if you use the term "I understand your a man who knows how to get things".

It's awesome.

I'm getting mental difficulty spikes on Skyrim too. I still really like it and I don't want to be the one to complain when I know I'm still going to log at least a hundred more hours on it but I'm a big Elder Scrolls fan and I have to kind of take it as a minor disappointment. The dual wielding just makes things more cumbersome and seems to slow down the pace of the game a great deal. I'd much rather be forced to have just one weapon at a time in addition to a spell to cast with the RB button like it was in Oblivion.

Okay one weapon and one spell you can do that with dual wield anyway sure but something about the system just seems clunky to me. I find having to constantly switch spells through a favourites menu I have to flick through tiring compared to Oblivion's eight hotkeys. I'd never need more than 8 slots anyway and having a spell on demand is much better than a quick cycle through a menu during the middle of a battle.

The rest are mostly nerdy complaints. The interface is dull. I never want to see black and white for the rest of my life. The font is far too narrow. Seeing your character and having everything on a universal, trigger scrolling menu in Oblivion was much better than the B button four way menu thing in Skyrim. I hate not having the NPC's heads take up the TV screen while I talk with them. I don't like having to see them sit halfway across the room when they deliver often lengthy sequences of dialogue.

I realize the game is more streamlined and conventional for the better [most people would I assume appreciate the more freeform one handed weapon skill instead of seperate skill paths for each type of weapon, for instance] but I just can't bring myself to adoring these changes. I stopped liking Final Fantasy when they got rid of world maps and then random battles. I know it's a debilitating and unfeasible thing to keep things roughly the same forever - unless your Nintendo - but yeah. ~Nostalgia.

i think the random dragon encounters are only triggered once you complete the first dragon quest in whiterun (kill your first dragon) because i was playing for 20 hours before i did that quest and didnt even see 1 dragon but after completing it i saw 3 within the space of 30 minutes (non quest related) and 2 attacked me at once D: but i was with a priestess at azuras shrine so its k. so glad azuras star is back thats the best daedric artifact imo :worship: i lost vaerminas artifact (i wont say how coz das spoilers)

I'm completely absorbed by this game now. All the little interface things I was complaining about earlier have become second nature. And the landscape is beautiful once you see enough of it - especially the volcanic lakes and Dwemmer ruins near Morrowind.

I love that the Dwemmer are back in it.

The magic is so much more satisfying to use in this game. It actually feels powerful in your hands as opposed to chinking around little balls of light. I barely use weapons anymore. A dual spray of ice sucks dry the life of almost anything I hit it with in seconds. I'm slowly becoming really evil after starting out as a kind of good natured scallywag.

Haven't really felt the urge to bother with the magic stuff. If I ever playthrough through this a second time, I'll go full on mage, but atm archery and duel wielded axes are doing a good job of messing everyone up. I :love: my wood elf character. Magic doesn't really fit in with my idea of what a wood elf should be.

I'm now Arch Mage of the College Of Winterhold. It was a really short questline actually but all the quests are deeper and more varied than Oblivions generic 'go here and kill this' stuff. Or at least the game does a much better job of creating the illusion of variety.

I'm going to go all death eater and kill people who don't appreciate my gift of the arcane arts.

I started the companions questline and it's kinda sucky. It's nothing like the fighters guild. Instead of helping people we transform into werewolves and kill people who don't like werewolves. I feel like a right wanker being with them.

I had to collects the parts to Mehrunes Razor for some guy opening a museum in Dawnstar I think it was. At the end I was given the option by Mehrune Dagon to kill the guy and keep the razor for myself.

The poor bloke says let's just go back to the museum and we can share some money because he has a family and just wants to open the museum and I blasted him off the mountian with a dragon shout [never gets old] :(.

I felt so awful for ages afterwards that I'm actually considering changing my character to a good guy and doing some healing and pilgrimage related stuff.

and Azuras star is the best artifact in the game imo :amazed: even though i only have like 5 i havent even tried dawnbreaker yet but i think it only affects undead and the only undead are draugr which only take like one hit with an ice spear to kill anyway so thats kinda pointless

sanguine rose is epic too but ill probably sell it when i my skill level is high enough to conjure a dremora

the guy dies anyway D: after you refuse to kill him he says he will make a run for it back to dawnstar then he just stands there and 2 summoned dremora come and kill him in like 2 seconds

my magicka is 520 and i have all the high level destruction/conjuration spell plus one of the stones that makes magicka regenerate really fast i forget which one it is and i have the double duration conjuration perk which i always dual cast so i have a dremora lord with me all the time they last nearly 5 minutes but once i reach master level with those im gonna start using 1 handed and archery more

and the razor is the worst artifact imo :sad: azuras star is amazing :worship: peryites quest is my favorite daedra quest so far but i never use the artifact

As usual I can't point out the Bretons in this game. I had the same problem with Oblivion then realized that they were imperials with a lisp. I thought Mirabelle was a Dark Elf for ages now I realize she's a Breton.

Dark Elves were like High Elves before but it seems they've become the cheeky Cockney avin'-a-laugh-har-har types in this one sort of off to the side selling crap goods and sinking booze.

Argonians are even less present than ever which is a shame because they look boss. In Morrowind they were slaves, in Oblivion they were the subject of erotic fiction, and here they don't get due respect either.

More Khajiits would be nice too but then I'm biased. I know they've always been marginal races but Oblivion and especially Morrowind had way more beasts than this game.

Unrelenting Forcing people off the side of cliffs still hasn't gotten old.

I have an unlimited bounty in Markarth now after doing the forsworn conspiracy quest and killing the guards who tried to frame me after it. I can't yield them so if some quest down the line involves me having to hold a convorsation in Markarth with someone without getting a sword up the arse I'm goosed.

Anyone spot any Orcs?

Good way to improve smithing, enchanting and speech:

- buy/get/make as many Iron Ingots, Leather Strips and filled Soul Gems as possible
- use the materials to create as many Iron Daggers as you can
- enchant them all with whatever spells gives you the highest selling dagger
- sell them all
- repeat / wait 2 days and everyone will have restocked

Enchanted daggers each sell for like 300+, so you'll continually have enough to keep grinding.

I can't recall ever seeing a Argonian, and I'm over 50 hours in :laugh:

I do wish there was more variety in general. Half the races have barely any involvement even in side quests. I s'pose it has to stay true to how they've written Skyrim to be in the previous games.

Would be nice if there was a side quest specifically for every race. I'd like to meet some proper Wood Elves.

It's also worth getting the perks that gives merchants more money. Going from town to town to sell all your bling bling to merchants who only have about 700 gold each gets really old, really fast.

So I finished the main questline. It's a bit ****. I still don't really care about dragons or any of this nord nonsense. It's a far cry from helping Sean Bean realize his destiny or baiting Dagoth Ur with the help of a naked dark elf poet god.

I did like the nord heaven though. The sky looked unreal and it was great that it had it's own creepy music.

I think I discovered why Morrowind and Cyrodiil were modeled in the game - A Daedric quest has you raise up in the air (Think Knights of the Nine lol) and it's probably possible to see the White Gold Tower and Vvanderfell during the day

All the other provinces were in Oblivion too before they patched it up. You can still run into them by hopping the city walls from the inside so you get into the overworld without it loading. It's impossible to walk around in though because there is invisible death plunges everywhere where textures have just stopped.

im pissed off with the glitches in this game one of the word walls doesnt work at all when i go up to it it makes the noise and that gay singing is in the background but nothing happens, and it was one that the greybeards sent me to so now they wont mark anymore on my map until i 'discover' that one ive already discovered it its just broke you twat

and the boethiah quest is broke too and i have like 10 misc objectives that are still there even after ive completed them like the one about asking the guy about the hall of the dead, the guy who is now dead himself and i ate him so how tf am i supposed to ask him

This. I really hope the modding community will turn Blackreach into a friendly city with a house. I've been fascinated by the Dwemer ever since Morrowind.

It's basically having a second life. If you have the time then get it, if you play for only an hour here and there then I'm not sure. It is the best game I've played this year by far though but I've put a lot of hours in.

i started playing again today and the dead crone rock word wall is still broke :bored:

its annoying because the dragon dudes from the top of that huge mountain sent me there so until i learn the word from that wall they wont mark the locations of any others on my map and i wanted to clear all the walls :sad:

and i cant dual wield swords when i have them favorited either i have to do it via the menu which is a pain :nono:
