Now I wanted Matt to win, so this is nothing to doubt him, he was a magnificent contestant and very consistent over every week so fully deserved it.

However I am talking of the final show alone. How good was Rebecca? (aside from maybe the Xtina duet she was a bit starstruck). She put some of her best performances all into them 2 nights and if it was based on the final alone she would have stole it. However Matt was popular from day 1 and deserved winner after some of his earlier performances.

I think Rebecca is a more talented singer, but Matt overall is more talented because he is not just a good singer, but a musician too.

Statistically she may have been as she closed the gap of the semi-final (35% matt to 20% Rebecca) to just 6% diference in the final. I think many of those undecided voters were swayed by her in the final, but not enough of them.

I think Rebecca must have picked up votes from fans of contestants who went out (Cher, One Direction) as well. I think she's going to have a much more successful career than Matt.

Matt was the winner of the show, he will get the number 1 this Xmas, but not sure how much further he will progress. The thing with all the other finalists is that they are younger (in 1D and Cher's case much younger) so can still progress and have a great career, while Matt is 27 already.

However he was extremely popular, he was number 1 in the votes from week 2, so he was surely the fans winner in the end and so I am hoping his stock will last beyond his first album.

You're only as good as the material you put out there. Matt was popular for a variety of reasons, one of them naturally being because of the song choices he had on the X Factor. Continued popularity on that front depends entirely on what he releases, so I hope for his sake he releases something commercial and marketable.

No as Matt won all but one of the live shows, I think he is well and truly the winner. Having said that I do think Rebecca is outstanding and think she will do very well anyway

I think you're better off as a runner up anyway. Olly, Rhydian, JLS ...

I think she's far more talented then Matt, her voice is richer then his and she doesn't have to rely in vocal fireworks to add life to her performances. He's technically very good but he lacks the subtlety of Rebecca and pretty much has no nuances to his voice. He's got a good voice but a very flat voice as well.

not necessarily, I don't think, I mean G4, Andy, Ray for example and I think Alexandra and JLS are both successful not just JLS

G4 were more successful than the winner (Steve Brookstein)

admittedly I didn't watch that year, I think I was away somewhere but I don't remember hearing anything about either of them tbh

Rebecca was excellent but I think the public got it bang on this year, imo Matt is nothing like previous male winners,he is musicial and has worked for a long time with his band and writes his own stuff, and even though some people might not like his voice, there is no denying the boy can sing,Rebecca will do very well and i am sure Matt will too,I think now the nerves and pressure have gone,we will be getting some cracking music and performances from Matt.

Don't forget that Matt had 6-singles-in-the-top-40-and- counting Rihanna as his duet.....how many extra votes would that have got him? That and the girly vote.......yet Rebecca closed to within less than 6% of his supposedly substantial vote......I thought Rebecca 'won' the final vocally, and apparently so do many many others, including music critics in the Sun and Mirror.

Not to mention 4th placed Vickers. Becky has time to develop now...anyone who saw her first audition again last night on ITV2 must recognise the girl has raw talent.....and I gather she 'writes her own stuff' too...... its not exclusive to matt!

She came second, so she obviously had more fans than Treyc, Cher, Aiden etc :xyxwave:

She had almost as many votes as Cardle, more by far than Cher or One dimension........and with due respect to Leona, who is brilliant, she beat Ray Quinn!! I can't even remember the others in her year TBH.
