Matt was #1 last week, and has done it again, meaning he is Christmas #1 in Ireland today! This occurred despite a huge national Irish campaign to have the Rubberbadits Horse Outside claim the #1 spot.

But there was no match for Cardle!

Well done for 2 weeks at Irish #1, and a guaranteed 2nd week at #1 in the UK on Sunday (as well as a Christmas #1 both in Ireland and the UK)

It was a last minute campaign by a foul mouthed, misunderstood Limerick rap duo who got big through the internet. It was hardly going to be a threat to the number one spot when most of their mid teen to twentys fans don't buy singles versus the hoards of mammies buying Matt's masterpiece for their seven year old kids. In addition the competing song was struggling on an independent record lable that could never keep the singles stocked in store.

That particular Rubberbandits song however did get three and a half million YouTube hits in two weeks which ... does it? ... yes ... definately means more than single sales these days.

Well done Matt/Matt's production team/Matt's image team/Matt's marketing team/The original songwritters/SyCo/The X-Factor platform.

Matt was #1 last week too, but this week there was a huge campaign to stop Matt from getting Irish Christmas #1. The band were beating Matt in downloads by a lot, but Matt sold huge amounts of physical CDs and won the title :)

Yes!!!!!!! My brother was going on about this crappy song and how it was gonna beat Matt and I said it wouldn't and I was right. Woooo. Not that anyone pays attention to the Irish chart, but still.

I actually quite like the song the more I hear it (eventhough I still wanted Matt to be No1)
