Channel 5 Will Reveal Big Brother's Future In January 2011

Hello Members of TiBB,

I know I haven't posted on here in almost a month and this isn't really me returning either by the way guys, But I did hear some relatively big news regarding Big Brother and want to share it with you all as it appears not many people know about it, and why would they?
Most people have given up listening for news on Big Brother's future.

Anyway,

Channel 5 are going to be announcing their final decision as to whether or not they are going to be taking on Big Brother 12 very, very soon.

What I'm trying to say is, we will find out if Big Brother UK is ever coming back in January 2011.

2010 is so close to it's ending, so obviously January is just around the corner everyone.
This is going to be a big month because we as Big Brother fans are going to find out if our beloved show is ever returning even if it is to Channel 5, or if Endemol haven't found a buyer.

There's a person I talk to on FaceBook well actually, I don't really talk to her.
She spoke to me a few times in the Summer about Big Brother but that was the last I heard of her until the other day when she spoke to me again on FaceBook chat regarding Big Brother UK.

She said that we'll find out in January if Channel 5 are taking it on, What makes her so special?

She's the same girl that told me just under a week before it was announced, that Endemol and Channel 5 have 'stalled' in talks regarding BB12 and then of course she was proved right when other articles surfaced about that in September.


And it's also been mentioned on Wikipedia aswell, I know what you're thinking!

Well i lost 2 of my annual favorite shows of the last 10 years, one was lost the was BB. My god i hope they take it on. But it won't be anything like how we know it if it does come back i would imagine.

So there basically won't be an announcement then, as the deal fizzled out months ago. And thank god, BB needs a break - and C5 would just kill it off completely.

It will be back one day - whether in a couple of years or a couple of decades, but for now it needs to rest.

I reckon if they're waiting to announce the results then it must be leaning towards C5 acquiring it, otherwise they would just say it's not happening. Then again it's Wikipedia so I wouldn't take it seriously at all.

I'm torn on the idea of it coming back to be honest. Part of me is dreading the thought of no Big Brother during the summer, but part of me doesn't want it to come back and be completely different to how I love and remember it. That'd ruin the whole thing for me. I only want it back if all the important elements remain the same, and to be honest that does include Davina...which I can't see happening. So I don't know.

Old news - there's been word of a January C5 programming announcement for months.

It appears Channel 5 is going to become even more cheap and sleazy than it's ever been so I'm not sure I'd like to see BB on 5 now. I mean, just look at their new logo:

Channel 5 has slowly improved over the years and become more at home with the other 4 channels. But not quite got that something. Aquiring neighbours was a good move and BB would be a likewise comparison. Although a bit like a secondhand hand me downs. But that don't worry me. But there is going to be big dissapointment on the horizon me thinks.

It is the 4th, we have a long time to go but for all we know they could give their list of new shows this Saturday or tomomrrow, you never know.

Might be because Richard Desmond has only taken over recently, as far as I can tell 5 is still showing pretty much the same programs so maybe he's announcing what shows he's bringing to the channel :shrug:

There is a chance they won't mention Big Brother!

I don't think half of you get this,
No other Broadcaster at the moment is interested in Big Brother, not saying they'll never be when they need a game show, but at the moment they aren't.

Everyone seems to think Channel Five could be the 'hero' to step in and save the show and Richard Desmond and Endemol obviously have spoke and this has shown that there is/was a chance that BB could be brought back.

Channel 5 are definitely releasing a list of new shows sometime this month as a way to start their 'New and Improved' channel.

If Big Brother isn't on their list then any chance or hope it had of returning is clearly dead for now, because the one channel that could of saved it, didn't in the end.

So yeah, There's a chance Channel 5 will say nothing of Big Brother this month [or for a very long while for all we know].

But if then there's a chance they will include Big Brother amongst their list of new shows.

I disagree with the notion Celebrity BB should survive - that isn't what BB is about - I've always said celebrity killed the reality star.

Much prefer the everyday nobodies to the Z-list celeb nobodies - it just comes down to casting people who want to be in Big Brother because of what they'll experience in the house, not because of what might happen afterwards. They managed that with BB11 and BB9 - but completely failed with BB8 and BB10.

I agree also that I prefer the nobody series to the celebrity one. However last year's celebrity one was good. They got it right and it was better than bb11 if you ask me. I just hope they do one more celeb bb with Boy George in it!

Anyway Summer is just not the same without BB. I have coped this January without the Celeb version. Only a few weeks missed. But BB has to be back. No point in waiting until next year.

Late night reruns around 11pm would be better - and now it's off air that's more likely than ever before on some random digital channel.


If BB does return anywhere other than C4 though I suspect it'll be as "Secret Story" - about half a dozen versions have launched in the last few months alone, and I could cope with C5 doing that as if it flops it does no damage at all to the Big Brother brand.

Were you aware at any time during the typing of that product of heavy menopause that you were contradicting yourself as you went along? People can post what they want ... but only on your terms?

Anyway I'm genuinly surprised news has been made of this. I'm still going to be a negative bastard though. Not as a BB hater, but as a BB fan. Channel 5 will kick the show when it's down and I don't see how it's going to get any bigger or better than the broken down state it was in during it's final few years on Channel 4.

It's as close to Big Brother as we're ever going to get again, do you honestly think anyone else would want it?

I do think EXTENDING the show to run for more than 13 Weeks is a MASSIVE MASSIVE MASSIVE MASSIVE Mistake.

That's one of the reasons people turn off, right? Because it runs too long.

It's awful because Dirty Desmond will do more damage to the Big Brother brand than Jade Goody and an OXO cube! He clearly isn't interested in the show itself, or television at all. It's all about OK! and the Daily Star and the pointless nobodies who appear on the front covers week in, week out - two things Britain could frankly do without.

With the right team at the helm on a channel interested in it because they want to make good television, not sell magazines, a relaunched Big Brother could work - but this clearly isn't the case with C5. It'll basically be BB8 every year.
