ABC develops 'Wicked' mini-series
ABC is reportedly developing a television mini-series based on the Gregory Maguire novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West.
The book, which has already spawned a popular Broadway musical, will be adapted by Band of Brothers writer Erik Jendresen.
Hollywood star Salma Hayek will produce the eight-hour project alongside her fellow Ugly Betty producer Jose Tamez and may also play a supporting role.
ABC previously passed on a Wicked mini-series in 2009, but the adaptation was recently revived under new network president Paul Lee.
A film based on the musical version of the book is already in the works at Universal.
I liked the book so I'm quite interested in this, as long as no one bursts into song it might be worth watching although I wish Showtime or HBO were handling this as the source material is rather mature.
