[edit] FormatThe show will follow a similar format to Channel 4's Big Brother. Nominations, evictions, etc. will all remain largely the same apart from a few differences.
[edit] Standard FormatEach house-guest will be given a identity (i.e. name, job, background) apart from one. If this one person discovers the secret he will be automatically in the final. It will remain unknown to all house-guests as to who is the real house-guest. It is expected there will be more twists surrounding this.
[edit] Nominations and EvictionsEach house-guest will choose 2 house-guests they wish to stay. After nominations are completed the two house-guests with the lowest amount of nominations will be up for eviction. The house-guests will then face a public vote in a vote-to-evict. The house-guest with the highest amount of votes will be evicted in front of a live studio audience. [2]
[edit] ProductionThe show is slated to take place over 55 days in Summer 2011, beginning on June 10th. [3] RTÉ have not yet confirmed the launch date or end date of the show however.
[edit] The HouseThe house itself is rumored to be currently under renovation somewhere near Balbriggan, Co. Dublin. The house is due to contain at least 38 cameras. [4] IKEA, Dublin are said to be providing furnishings and fittings for the show. [5]
[edit] BrandingThe shows logos were released by the RTÉ TV Sales website in mid-January but were removed 2 days later. [6] The two logos released were the house logo (above), and a camera logo (right).
Camera logo[edit] MusicThe theme for the show will be produced by SoundBank, which is located in Dublin.[7]
[edit] BroadcastThe show, which is set to take place in Summer 2011 is due to comprise of one 45 minute episode each night for the entire run on RTÉ Two. A 25 minute spin-off show, The House: Through The Window, is set to be broadcast daily on RTÉ Two also with The House: In The Attic, a 45 minute fan-based show slated to be broadcast every eviction night. It is not yet known who will front these shows, although people such as Brian Dowling and Dustin the Turkey have been rumored. As well as this, a live feed is due to be available on RTÉ's RTÉ Player website and via the RTÉ Player's iPod and iPhone apps. [8]
[edit] AuditionsAuditions have yet to be confirmed, although it is though they will take place from mid-February. However, it is known that they will take place by auditionees sending RTÉ audition videos over the internet.[9]

If I was never a housemate I would love to work for the company. I would love to be a co producer or something. Pick the potential housemates!! :D
Aww Irish TV. I have only heard of Irish Popstars really.. the one Nadine Coyle went on but she was too young for it then she auditioned for the UK popstars!!
Brian Dowling could host it.. would be logical. Irish setting and all, Irish company running it, then an Irish TV presenter. This show will definately be worth doing. I would love to see a year long BB or something. But really this need to be shorter than other series. Not dragged on as much. It deserves a chance, it deserves a shot. And I certainly will be watching.
COME ON THE HOUSE!

Oh :( I bet it all depends how much the UK wants to watch it. I bet the producers of this show.. if they are reading what we are putting now.. they will be ecstatic that most of us are still interested in BIG BROTHER! I don't mind if it's called The House.. lol.
It needs to change a bit. The format should kind of stay the same but more twists and that. Maybe take a leaf out of BBUSA or something.

No they didn't, in the article it says the presenter has confirmed its true, but the reference is a dead link. Classic Hoax.
I know Ireland is about 50 years behind the UK but do you seriously think a genuine tv show would use that ****ty logo?
Yeah looks like it isnt true:
"It is proposed that this article be deleted because of the following concern:
Suspected hoax, references lead to dead links, no source for forthcoming TV show's existence. RTE did have a programme called "The House", however it bears no resemblance to this article"

It's going to fall flat on it's arse and fail.
Reason?
It's Irish.
No one cares, Put it on a British Channel and there's a chance it could even make it past the 3 Million Mark in ratings.
And they need to get Una from The Saturdays to present it or that fit Irish Girl from MTV.
If not, then Brian Dowling.
But yeah stick it on a British Channel like BBC One or something like that.
Not Channel 5, that would kill the chance of Big Brother coming back if they had this.

Oh and Kathryn Thomas, as sexy as she is, is a ****ing horrible presenter. Count how many times she says 'good for you!' on Winning Streak.
Irish telly as a whole is guttertrash. Take a look at RTE's attempt to get 'down with the kids' via Republic Of Telly, a show written by people with no sense of humour, for people with no sense of humour.
Love/Hate was okay but miles behind a million samey things the Brits could have produced. And the lead character looked about as far removed from someone who would be involved with gangs as you could possibly imagine.
The Savage Eye, now that's alright.
It's not happening, hense why wikipedia admin are deleting the article, it has no credible sources proving such a show is happening.

... and have now been all but destroyed by being contractually obliged to do the 'hillarious' skits the mid 40's ROT writers have drafted for them.
See the Wizard Of Oz one? It was such a disaster and got such nasty comments that RTE removed the YouTube video of it and shut down any other ones being put up of it.
