View Full Version : Did most BB11 HM's have some sort of media connection?

Like some link to the bottom of the barrel of fame. I know some had agents and skipped the auditions.

Ben
Shabby
Mario
Ife
Dave

They're the ones I can think off top of my head but I know more did. Sort of spoils it really, like these aren't just 'random members of the public' I think it was like that the last few years though right?

Yeah Mario was heavily connected with the show.

Ben was basically invited onto the show by a production member.

Not sure about Shabby though, but I can't really remember.
It's weird actually how little I can remember reading about the Big Brother 11 Housemates now :(

Shabby was an actress though, so sort of had a claim to fame by being on Casualty and various other things.

Yeah some housemates are from agecies and that. Ife was a bore. Don't get why BB went through so much trouble to put her on.

It should be more random members of the public..

Aww I would love to work for BB. Like auditioning for BB. The first stage was "the picking pens" and if you stamped then you got through to the next round. Would love to stamp people and actually ask potential housemates questions and interview them in the 2nd stage! Or be a housemate.. I would audition.. but more and more I think to myself would I survive on the other side? Probably not!

A few had tried for years to get on as well had they not? Corin, Mario. And a few 'stand in's'

If they did, it didn't do them any good - they all disappeared back into obscurity in double-quick time ..... :joker:

Dave, Ben and Steve were all invited to audition. Keeva was invited after she was spotted walking down a Dublin street by someone involved in the audition process. Shabby found out about the auditions after a flyer was sent to a drama group she attended. John James had been offered a place on Australia BB but had to pull out when his father died, I think the fact that he was "known" by Endemol helped him get into the UK house. Then you have Corin and Mario who'd auditioned several times before and had taken part in a dry run (this wasn't unusual as lots of ex housemates had done this: Bex, Imogen,Maxwell etc).

I always think that Endemol had an idea about what kind of "cast" they wanted for each series and set out to find people who fitted into the specific roles. I actually thought BB11 was one of the best cast wise. They had a really good group of people from different backgrounds. But it went off the boil when they allowed to Shabby and Keeva to walk and the rot set in from there. Also Sunshine and Rachael going to early was a massive disaster.

For me BB11 was the most carefully picked cast, for no real friction. And it worked D:

This. Well there was a bit of friction. Shabby a firecracker, Cameltoe who drained the house and John James being a twat.

There was a few arguments here and there. It just didn't last long.

Yeah I agree to this. Gutted.

Shabby seemed like a spolit brat type though. People ended up ignoring her in the end she got so ridiculous. Peole would walk out the room and she'd just get mad by herself lol

BB11 was one of the worst years, so however they picked them didn't work at all

It's a close call between BB11 and BB4 tbh. Both were really boring

At least they were allowed to drink it BB4. The lack of alcohol was the worst thing for me

Did you not watch BB8 and BB10? They were both a load of ****e and far worse than BB11 and BB4 were.

BB11 was one of my favourite years! Right after BB5 and BB7,suppose it's all objective.

Oh and John nearly got into the Aussie one.

yes I watched both, BB10 was one of my favourites actually. They had a great cast in that, so many brilliant characters (maybe not so nice but entertaining)

BB8 was ok, not one of the best but not the worst, BB11 and BB4 were much worse

BB10 had a great lot but the producers were lazy. Also alot of them were previous test HM's though

yeah, I think it could have actually been my favourite year if they'd put more effort into the tasks and some twists etc. As it was, it was still a great year purely because the HMs were so good and basically carried the show on their own

Mmmm indeed, but that's why it lost it's way. All the fame hungry and half connection people coming in. Not real personalities or a reflection of society

I don't know, I enjoyed the drama that was going on all the time in there, whether it was a reflection on society or not didn't bother me too much tbh

BB10 did have some good housemates, but it was like the producers had stopped caring. It looked like it had been made on the cheap. The opening titles were the worst of the entire eleven series, there was no live feed so we couldn't see what really went on, the house design was crap and there just seemed to be no atmosphere. It "felt" different to all the others series. There was something really missing from it and I've not been able to put my finger on it..

BB8 was just a disaster from start to finish. Awful selection of housemates, the all female opening night was a rubbish idea, the allowed Carol to rule the house with an iron fist, the awful "Chiggy" fauxmance, the way they booted out Emily in the middle of the night with her nightie still on.. it was the series where the rot set in.

And to top it all off that idiot Belo won :bored:

And yeah they seemed to be getting more PC then

The Emily thing was definitely over the whole Jade/Shilpa thing. It was pretty unfair, she wasn't being nasty or insulting when she said it. It was wrong of them to kick her out over it
