Has anyone else heard of/or being affected by this?

My year had a discussion about it in assembly today. Even though all of us have chosen our GCSE options, we have the choice to change to do the baccalaureeate, which consists of having A*-C in English, Mathematics, two Sciences, a Foreign Language and History or Geography.

The year below us have only one option to take because they're making this compulsory for them now. I think it's really stupid because my school make a big deal of having the best grades. We have a meeting tommorrow, and I know for a fact that they'll convince us to change to do this. They're getting all fussy saying that they'll take away other compulsory subjects for us to do it.

I think something needs to change, since the dumbing down of O and A levels has resulted in qualifications that are not globally recognised or comparable with academic standards in other countries.

I don't like this idea though, It's unfair because I wouldn't be able to take it, even if I wanted to, because i'm taking a OCR Science :|

I would've refused to do History. It's the most overrated subject ever IMO.

I'd take the baccalaureate if I were in your shoes and had the same option. It's widely regarded as being a superior qualification.
