Depends on the nature of the homophobia I guess. There's always the stereotype of the school bully homophobe who may well be covering his/her own sexuality...but I think the majority of homophobes aren't homosexual.

on this forum when a poster (often it would seem a gay one) runs into a cul-de-sac when arguing the natural defense is to say "well you are just a closet gay yourself". It is a deep seated stereotype based (from what i can gather) on how tv dealt with homosexuality in the 60s and 70s - the gay character in some drama (daring at the time) would often be angry and anti-gay in order to appear hetro but also because hiding their sexuality was frustrating.

My Nan, as much as I love her, says homosexuality is wrong and I've had countless arguments with her about it and she just don't listen. Even when I say to her, "but gay people are born that way (excuse the gaga reference)" and she's all "well they should be celibate" and then I'm like ":o K but it was God that made them that way in the first place" then she says "God made them gay as a challenge to face in life and to see if they can overcome it" then I'm like "Suuuuuuuuuuuuure -____-".

I can't really do that to my Nan cause I'm not out to her LOL :laugh: . She's mega conservative. When my cousin came out as a lesbian my Nan's relationship with her changed. My Nan is quite cold and distant towards her now I've noticed. :sad: I never want that to happen so ima just keep my sexuality a secret from her.

It only makes me suspicious because of an experience I had with a guy at school. I wasn't exactly bullied, but he kept on and on about it - the usual evil homophobic stuff - until he got a bit carried away and accused me of wanting to do a certain sexual acts on him which stunned me because I had never even heard of them before. Much later I realised that he had probably been gay himself and his abuse was a way of getting off.
