It can have many shows
its all being set up soon.

Many Small Companies are behind it.

"Hunt hopes the new UK-wide channel will act as a "spine", probably with national programming mixed with local content from around the country to make it attractive to advertisers and therefore commercially viable."

Oh he's boring.

I thought he'd be a legend and take on Big Brother and all that but he's just being a dull bastard who wants to air like the local Binco session or something.

Fails.

This is the type of channel that deserves to have Doctors thrown at them.

The PSBs for each channel are

BBC One - Filled with programming for pretty much everyone
BBC Two - Documentary and different programming
ITV1 - Same as BBC One, must compete with BBC One
Channel 4 - Experimental channel, must keep trying to push the envelope
Channel 5 - No ones even sure anymore xD

Oh that reminds me of this weird free channel on Sky in africa somewhere, there was like a gang of girls all living in a house and they were live on the tv channel 24/7, I didn't understand their language but I watched it a few times. I wish I could remember what it was called. :joker:

No it will not be.

It has to get funds
daytime could include Great Local News Reports
then a hour of ads,

So its not meant to match other channels.

"Channel 6, the national network set up to deliver local TV across the UK, today outlined what it claims will be the biggest boost to the independent TV production sector in 30 years.

CEO Horwood promised that Channel 6 would not be a "mishmash" of old US series and claimed that if the station gets the national contract it will deliver "the biggest boost to the UK's independent production sector since the launch of Channel 4 a generation ago".

Under our plan, which has been fully costed by industry experts, we will launch the national network and around 9 local affiliates on Freeview, cable and satellite in 2013, building to 39 by 2017.

will it be aloud to show local sport?

It could do
as that would be connected to Local News
but slots are still being worked out
early to rule it in or out.

I don't really see the need for it, we already have good 'local' news produced by the BBC/ITV. All this will do is take readers from the already dying local print media and remove listeners local radio.

Things are changing

The local print problems
are running along side of this
with or without Ch6.

For example Local News on a Saturday
by the BBC - you are lucky sometimes to get 5mins worth
you could miss it so easy as the Sports take over.

You need to see the Final product
its to early to say you think we do not need it.

Luke Johnson ex- Ch4 and Paul Jackson ex-ITV
put in the bid for Ch6

Luke Johnson, the former chairman of Channel 4, has teamed with former BBC and ITV executive Paul Jackson to bid for culture secretary Jeremy Hunt's new national TV channel.

"Their group, Local6, is the ninth bidder to publicly declare an interest in running the channel, which is intended to provide a national spine for Hunt's initiative to create a new network of local TV services. Tuesday was the deadline for initial submissions of interest to Hunt.
Johnson, the entrepreneur and former Pizza Hut owner, stepped down as Channel 4 chairman at the end of 2009. Jackson is a former head of entertainment and comedy programming at the BBC and ITV."

Both of these men ran Channels
so they would be Ideal.
