Shane Meadows has been told that his drama This Is England '90, a sequel to this year's This Is England '86 TV series, has been given the green light. The new TV series will follow the adventures of principal characters Shaun, Woody, Lol and Milky four years after the previous show, reports the Metro.
This Is England '86 caught up with the gang three years after they were seen in the film This Is England.
Channel 4's head of drama Camilla Campbell said: "This Is England will be returning to C4. It is a continuation of the same characters four years on, looking at rave culture and the World Cup. Shane is brimming with ideas and we are really excited."
Meadows discussed the possibility of making This Is England '90 in an interview with The Independent earlier this year. He said the 1990s were a "big turning point".
"The next really big turning point in my life was 1990," he said, "with The Haçienda, the rave, The Stone Roses, ecstasy, the whole shambolic thing.
"I'd seen a lot of friends get into heroin off the back of that, so in a kind of way, Shaun's journey, if there is to be a second series, will continue in 1990."
I didn't see a thread on it so thought would post, sounds good :D wonder if we have to wait another 3-4 years though?

Yeah it goes by the World Cup, I don't think they'd milk it too much though, sensible enough to know not to do that.
Good news :D
Hope they dont do a 4 year interval though, I dont see why it's necessary for 4 years to have actually passed before it airs

You already know there's going to be a This Is England '90. But did you know there will be a This Is England '88 as well? Shane Meadows announced the one-off Christmas special at today's South Bank awards as he collected the best TV Drama award.
:amazed:
Stephen Graham ( Combo ) won't be appearing in any of them anyway.. the show he is currently staring in ( Playing Al Capone ) has just won 2 golden globe awards and he's been in all 12 episodes in the first season.. probably getting paid 5x as much as well

The movie was good. The series was a decidedly average Skinsefied bore. I might give it a chance.

Well it is looking more and more like we have 3hrs of television on our hands here in 1988. I still can't get my head around how we managed to get all that done in four five day weeks but that's where we're heading baby. We will have some new scenes to pickup but we are in great shape in the edit already so it should be a christmas to remember for TIE fans.
I am still aiming to create a one off piece (they call them 'films' i think) for cinema screenings (though it would be my longest film to date), and film festivals etc so there will hopefully still be a chance to see it on the big screen.
The other bit of news is that my Son Arty, makes a cameo appearance in the final Episode, so keep em peeled. He takes after his mum in the looks department though so don't lookout for bushy eyebrows as it will lead you up the wrongest of pathways.

Im not sure id imagine they'll have it on the same night as the third episode, have the first 2 on before that and then show the third episode at the same time everyone else will see it.

Renowned filmmaker Shane Meadows follows up the explosive award-winning This Is England '86 with three new one-hour films.
Meadows picks up the action in the Christmas of 1988 as Lol struggles to cope with life as a single mother. Haunted by the devastating events that took place 18 months previously, she finds her reserves of strength ebbing away. With her soul mate Woody heartbroken from her betrayal and in self imposed exile from the gang, Lol also becomes increasingly isolated and alone.
They say Christmas is a time for forgiving and for forgetting, a time of love and laughter and joy ever after. But when all hope seems lost, what peace is there to be found? This is Christmas. This is England.
:D
:amazed:
Is that this Christmas it's happening? And who's Lol pregnant with? :suspect:

Vicky McClure (Lol) quick interview about 88
You have now shot This is England '88. What kind of world does the gang inhabit after another two years?
I'm absolutely sworn to secrecy. All I can say is it's set in Christmas and it's going to be an exciting show.
How long do you think the series can keep going?
I don't think it will become a regular thing. If anything, the last one will probably be 1990. We'll have to watch this space.

its her dad , he raped her , she killed him , combo took the blame and is now in prison

It's her Dad who used to rape her, she killed him at the end of 86 when he tried to do it again to her after doing it to her sister but Combo took the blame for it and went down for man slaughter

It's set around xmas. Not sure why they were shown one after another. And I think there could have been another couple of cheerful eps, cause the three of them are a bit depressing.

well the girl (Lol) who killed her sick paedophile dad keeps seeing him around the place, and it's like something out of a horror, so she takes an overdose, also there is a guy in prison because he took the blame for killing her dad, he did it to keep her from going to jail, and to redeem himself because he hadn't lived a very good life up to that point.
Anyway she gets her stomach pumped and survives, and a guy Woody, who was succeeding in life, drops everything to be by her side, as he's still madly in love with her, dispite her cheating on him with his best friend, and having a child with that guy.
