I watch and love both but have to go with True Blood as it's more graphic, gritty and grown-up.

Well I enjoyed the first season of Vampire Daires, it was very slow to start off with though.

On the other hand I loved season 1 of True Blood, had me hooked all season. however I found Season 2 a massive disappointment (however you have told me it gets better).

So I cant pick eeither untill I finsihed both second seasons.

Based on season 1 - True Blood edges it.

The main problem with Vampire Daires is that there is so many boring characters. I would be happy just watching Damon and The Blonde hair girl, the others are boring.

I like both but True Blood kicks seven shades out of Vampire diaries. Better writing, better characters, better stories. It just does everything better.

No way, there's alot more interesting characters in True Blood. Damon is one of the only interesting characters in Vampire Diaries, True Blood has loads though. Eric, Sookie, Lafayette, Tara, Maryanne and Godric to name a few......

Could never get into The Vampire Diaries. I have two of the books that the show's based on though, have no intention of reading them currently but may one day.

Damon's the best character in VD but even then he's generic by TB standards. Elena's just a better looking Kristin Stewart while Sookie's actually got a personality, Bill's age and character is believable while Stefan isn't. Damon's a shallow character in comparision to Eric. Tara, Lafayette & Jason trump Bonnie, Caroline & Elena's brother respectively.

At it's core VD is just a less tedious Twilight, Twilight was the only reason it was made into a TV show and you can tell it's the main influence in it. True Blood turns the typical conventions on their heads though. It's unfair to compare them as TB just destroys VD in every way. I do like VD but it's ultimately fluff.

Please, the vampire storylines are so similar it's shocking. If you don't see the similarities between Spike's character arc and Damon's then you're being willfully ignorant while Katherine's pretty much VD's Darla with elements of Drusilla.

Hell let's compare them for the fun of it.

DAMON
- Is the villain at the beginning, is completely in love with Katherine and is willing to do anything to release her from the tomb.
- Gets spurned by Katherine upon her reappearance as she loves Stefan.
- Ultimately becomes good because of his love for Elena

SPIKE
- Is the villain at the beginning, is completely in love with Drusillia and is willing to do anything to bring her back to full strength.
- Gets spurned by Drusilla as she flirts with Angel once she gains full power. She eventually leaves him.
- Ultimately seeks to become good because of his love of Buffy.

They're very similar story wise in the early days and in personality, the main difference is that Spike's character change happens a lot slower then Damon's.

I knew her name was something like that, it's been a few years since I've watched Buffy.
