You could argue it's too early, but alot of songs that essentially become 'The Summer Song' are usually released months or a year perhaps before that Summer.
Take Stereo Love for example, amazing song.
Was released in August 2009 but didn't quite take off at all, until Summer 2010 when it was constantly played!
Some songs are just meant for summer but are released prematurely really.
I have to say Summer 2010 had a few Summer Songs, IMO:
Pack Up, Middle Distance Runner, In The Air, Doo Wah Doo and Stereo Love.
So far, the two I candidates are:
I honestly think for me personally, this will be one song that I'll listen to next year and think of Summer, it has Summer written all over it, no seriously.. just look at the name.
hszZmFRPqx8
And this song, I really think alot of people will play over and over this summer, it'll probably not be off the radio and rightfully so, it has a good fibe to it:
3Na85fPGYCM
The funny thing is, both of these songs were released in July or August last year, but Hello is only really being played on the Radio and stuff now and The Island didn't get any attention at all.

"Hello" <3 I heard it when it came out, didn't care much for it, and then when it was used in the BBC adverts I fell in love.
-expects some form of return from David Guetta :bored:-

Happy Now by Take That. I'm not sure it's even going to a single, but it got mentioned when singles were talked about. It's all happy and would fit it in well with the start of the tour
It sounds weird on YT

Doesn't sound summery? But it may change once I hear it more.

Same, Well I didn't hear it at all until the BBC Adverts came on  Amazing.
I love how much attention the song got like on Facebook and stuff aswell on New Year's when BBC put it on :joker:
Ikr, Guetta did do a good job though in 2009 with When Love Takes Over, that tune is amazing.
But he's gone downhill now and is nothing more than a DJ who produces the background track to rappers like Flo Rida and Akon.

I hope it flops, GaGa fans will cut themselves.

I dno what it's supposed to sound like, but I imagine it's been pitched to prevent the label taking it down for copyright infringement

:laugh2:
It won't flop, it's @ #77 on Amazon already from preorders, and it isn't out until May

I just listened to it on YouTube, well the promo or snibbet.
Do you lot have any idea how ******ing dull it is?
May be better with a backing track, but still.
Threads should have some sort of inbuilt sensor that changes the thread title to 'Name Your Favourite Artist' when it comes appropriate.

How on earth do they sound Summery or have any kind of Holiday theme or fibe to them?
If Justin Bieber releases like a cover of Dizzee Rascal's Holiday it'll be hilarious but will push me over the edge.

Willow Smith's new song ('21st Century Girl') sounds like Rihanna's "S&M". Only with less bondage. Hopefully.

The word is Vibe.
They dont have to be, all the nonsense your coming out with means nothing, oh it has a goof "fibe". Summer songs are the ones that are most played over that period they um call Summer....
I think this will make a comeback in the summer, and I hope it does, I love Tim Berg, prefer the extended version though.

And Swedish House Mafia, Gyptian or Katy B will no doubt have a massive hit in the summer too.

Since when the hell was this rule put in place?
When people refer to a Summer song, they generally mean the song that reminds them of a holiday or something like that because it sounds like Summery and sh*t like that.

What do you mean come back? It's been played over and over and over here, but you may mean you hope it makes a come back in Summer like once the hype for it dies down after January?
Yeah I can see what you mean, it's not bad at all.

Not necessarly.
Look at In The Air by TV Rock.
Released in May, sounds very summery and it flopped [sadly].
Like I said, old songs [well not old, but a year old?] can make come backs near summer just based on the general feel of them, Stereo Love by Edward Maya being the perfect example of this.

Indeed, it should've got a summer release because it's got such a summery feel to it which is why I'm hoping they stop playing it now and bring it back for the summer so it's a bit more popular.
I'd also like to add Inna and Rihanna to the list of inevitable summer hits.
When people refer to a Summer song, they generally mean the song that reminds them of a holiday or something like that
... because they get played lots during that time. Hence forevermore your brain processes it as being 'that summery song'.
How do you 'make' a song summery? Use a sunburst colour guitar? Record the vocals in a kids pool?
That Pendulum track you posted is not by the grace of god created to 'sound' like summer. It could have been released at any time of the year. But beca -
- well you get the picture.

Lady Gaga's new album will probably be everywhere and will provide songs for the rest of the year. She'll dominate the charts. Bye Bye Britney and Rihanna.

You just proved my point.... a song that sounds summery doesnt necessarily mean it's gonna be a summer song, any song thats released around the time will.... (take Katy Perry, Eminem, BoB for example, all played way too much over summer.....and it doesnt take a genius to see that they were the summer songs of 2010 and the only one there that kind of, sort of sounds "Summery" is Katy Perry)

I think the song of Summer 2011 was definitely Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) by Katy Perry. I always thought it would be big but it was everywhere this Summer.
