Glee creator Ryan Murphy has lashed out at Kings Of Leon, calling them "assholes" for not letting him use their music on the show.
The Nashville band revealed to NME in August that they had turned down an offer from Glee to use one of their songs to refrain "from selling out".
Speaking to the Hollywoodreporter.com, Murphy said: "**** you, Kings Of Leon. They are self-centred assholes and they missed the big picture."
Kings Of Leon singer Caleb Followill responded to Murphy’s comments, saying: "This whole Glee thing is a shock to us. It's gotten out of hand. At the time of the request, we hadn't even seen the show. It came at the end of that record cycle, and we were over promoting [‘Use Somebody’]. This was never meant as a slap in the face to Glee."
Kings Of Leon are not the only band to decline the opportunity to have their music used on Glee. Slash also batted away a request from the show and Murphy also had harsh words for him.
"Usually I find that people who make those comments, their careers are over," he said of the guitarist. "They're uneducated and quite stupid."
gosh yeah, how dare they not want their song sung by some autotuned children.

I think it would have been fun for Glee to do their own versions of Kings of Leon songs. Anyway it's Kings of Leon's decision if they want their music covered or not. There is plenty of other music out there for Glee to choose.

Glee's pretty awful, It used to be alright in the first few episodes but it's all awful writing and forced songs now. I've never seen a fall from grace happen so quickly, the creator's an up himself arse too.

I followed up the story online and he was ranting on about all these seven year olds who could have learned to pick up an instrument because of this little **** giving us his gift of having the Glee cast pawn a song from Kentucky Fried Rock themselves. What a charitable bloke.
Course his now also teaching kids to slag people off when they don't give you what you want.

Rather harsh of him to say that, I always thought he came across as quite a nice guy and not the type to respond to people forbidding their songs being done on the show. Didn't Coldplay originally ban their songs? I don't remember him slating them in public, sounds like sour grapes to me.

Murphy slammed the band for turning down the show's request to feature their music, branding them "self-centred assholes". Followill hit back by posting on his Twitter page, Twitter.com/doctorfollowill.
Although the original tweet was deleted, Billboard reports that the drummer wrote: "Dear Ryan Murphy, let it go. See a therapist, get a manicure, buy a new bra. Zip your lip and focus on educating seven year-olds how to say ****."
Murphy then responded by accusing Followill of homophobia, a claim the sticksman denied online.
"That's [Followill] a homophobe badly in need of some education," Murphy told celebrity blogger Perez Hilton. "I'm all for manicures, don't wear a bra. Would guess most gay dudes don't."
He added: "It's telling that Nathan can reduce a group of people to a mean-spirited cliché, in a time where young gay men are killing themselves all over the country because of hatred like this.
"That said, I would love to sit down with Nathan or any member of Kings and Leon [sic], and tell them how on Glee we actually love their music, and support their artistry… but cannot condone or even laugh at their clear disdain of gay people."
Followill responded by tweeting: "I'm sorry for anyone that misconstrued my comments as homophobic or misogynistic. I'm so not that kind of person. I really do apologise."
