BIG Brother is set to return to screens this summer as Channel 5 bosses finalise a deal with producers.
A celebrity edition of the spy-on-the-wall show could be on air in months according to a Channel 5 source.
And a series with members of the public, like the one that made Jade Goody famous, could be broadcast in the summer of 2012 after auditions this year.
It is thought talks between Channel 5 boss Richard Desmond and producers Endemol are “at an advanced stage”.
Mr Desmond, who also owns the Daily Star, has made no secret of his desire to bring the show back. A Channel 5 insider said: “Talks started last year. They didn’t get anywhere initially, but both sides kept in touch and discussions are most definitely back on again.
“The deal hasn’t been signed yet but top people are talking to each other. Watch this space.”
Former host Davina McCall, 43, backed the plans yesterday and tipped Big Brother’s Little Brother host Emma Willis, 34, to take over presenting.
She said Emma “loves the programme and is a great presenter”. She added: “Any channel that picks up BB would be a very lucky channel. But I think I’ve said goodbye.”
A Channel 5 spokeswoman declined to comment last night.

Never... ever... ever... and I'm sure I speak for every BB Fan... have I ever been happier to see an article from the Daily Star!
Because he OWNS the Daily Star, why would they make up bollocks about their boss?
This basically PROVES it's real.

To quote Corin: IM BUZZIN!!!!!!!!
Anyway seriously now, Ive joined TIBB very recently, and as I thought BB11 was awful, i didnt get the chance to be a better member here and discuss passionately about Big Brother, and it would be the most pathetic and sad thing in the entire world if I had joined here to only talk about old series and how good they were, unfortunately I only got to know BBUK on its 10th series (mainly because Rodrigo was everywhere on the brazilian press, so I got me curious about it), so I didnt have much time to talk about it, and to discuss the events as they happened cuz by the time i watched the old series, obviously everything that needed to be said about them were already said.
Im talking too much, mainly by the fact that im over the moon about this news, anyway cant wait till BBUK kicks off again, and im certainly gonna be here to discuss about it.:elephant:

Emma > life
http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/greenslade/2011/jan/30/richard-desmond-channelfive
According to a Sunday Times story today, Richard Desmond has resurrected his hopes of screening Big Brother on Channel 5.
He believes, says the story, that "he can breathe new life into the show's format, which could be heavily promoted in his publications [the Daily Express and Daily Star plus OK! magazine]."
But one key reason for BB's past success was the level of coverage it received in all the tabloids.
I imagine that, should C5 get the show, it will get precious little space in rival papers and magazines, especially given the public's loss of enthusiasm for it.
Then again, what does "new life" mean? Perhaps Desmond plans to draw on the values exhibited by the television channels in his Red Hot TV portfolio, such as Dirty Talk, Filth and Television X.

Meh, several papers gave their parent company's channel a mention, of course they're going to re-report it and give it more exposure, true or not.

No Niamh! But.. I wouldn't mind Brian taking over George Lamb's position on BBLB ;)
Oh.. today on "This Morning" Emma appeared. She was in them ad bits where Holly and Phil say "this is your chance to win £££" and then Emma did that bit!! I was like.. oh my god. I bet before BB Emma will appear on TV a bit more so more people will know who she is and offically see if she is good enough for the job. Which.. I think she is. If you are passionate about Big Brother you are already halfway there :D

I'd probably say it's about 98% confirmed.
Even Channel 5 said themselves on their own show that they're doing it.
Daily Star is saying Celebrity Big Brother will air THIS summer whilst BB12 airs next summer.
It's everywhere really, mostly saying the same thing.
Surely all the sources can't be wrong or lieing especially since it was on C5 this morning.
We just need Desmond or Endemol to tell us something ASAP.

Isn't that..well not legal? If they signed a contract and then got everything ready and just decided 'oh ****** it' and didn't go through with it...?

Caroline Flack for that really as she's use to presenting Live.
But also Brian Dowling, why?
Because if anything went wrong he could turn it into something funny lol

Contracts have apparently not been signed yet.
It's not illegal to break a contract. Contracts are binding documents though and if a party does break the contract compensation can be very very expensive. Therefore the time to pull out is before the contracts are signed, not afterwards.

This.
It's quite unfair though that BB12 will probably be the final series of the original, I was thinking about what other members said earlier and if it does return it could basically fail in ratings and be lower than BB10 and it'll be because of the Olympics which isn't fair.
Really if they do decide to do this, Big Brother 13 would be the only fair way to judge if they should keep with it or not as axing it after Series 12 would be really unfair.

They could still launch the series in May and finish Late August which would only result in a few episodes with low ratings since the olympics don't start until July 27th. They would have to make the series shorter, maybe like the length of BB5/BB6.
