Right now basically as some of you know Channel 5 want to air Celebrity Big Brother 8 this summer and then air Big Brother 12 in Summer 2012.

Now, here's the thing:

Whilst I have no problem at all with them bringing Celebrity Big Brother back, it's still not a good idea IMO to have CBB before Big Brother.

I am glad we will finally be on track with the years for once, which is something I've always said, because now BB12 will be.. well in 2012.
But that's not really relevant.

The thing is with Big Brother returning, it should be big and it should be a big '****** You!' to all the haters who called it pathetic and called the fans sad all these years.

You can't give Big Brother it's 'BIG COMEBACK' by having the Celebrity series on first? I mean it's just silly.

Yeah it makes sense sure to have CBB8 after BB11 but in the summer?
I mean.. er.. I just thought CBB was always suited for Winter.

And do you all think CBB8 will run for 3 weeks or more if it's during summer?
I also can't see big celebrities giving up any longer than 3 Weeks IN THE SUMMER to spend on a show that has such bad press.

Celebrity Big Brother returning before Big Brother 12 is a bad idea IMO really, yeah it will probably bring in more viewers than BB11 got because as we all know the general public these days prefer Celebrity Big Brother to the original which is a shame.

But as a big fans point of view.. I guess I'd rather have it return in style with a proper series :(

hhmmm, I have to agree with you Paddy, Big Brother is a summer thing definitely and the big return would have to have Big Brother first not the celeb version!

It was pretty much confirmed on Channel 5 this morning by some bloke called Matthew.

Well in that case it's just plain stupid.... they've killed it before its return.....

Perphaps airing the first rebooted version against the olympics would be a bad idea? Maybe we need the initial series without much competition so we can establish it's not a flop.

I said that in another thread its the worst thing they could do....

The Olympics is only a couple of weeks long though, and do events still take place at 9/10pm when BB would be on?

CBB, I think if they're gonna make a load of changes, they should do it with the series which has the initial bigger ratings, so that people may stick around to watch the normal version when it comes back

Not the first few days but most indoor sprts can be held later on in stadiums. (I think I cant remember an Olympics thats been on GMT time)

It's not just the slots, it the newspaper coverage too. Papers only have so many column inches they have dedicate.

I doubt many BB viewers even watch The Olympics anyway :bored:

I could be wrong but you know, well when was the last Olympics actually? Did it effect Big Brothers' ratings?

Yeah thats true I mean if you look at how muh the Olympics is being reported now and it's still over a year away....imagine what it will be like in a years time leading into the build up.

Ah right yeah, I know they're held in the evenings but not really sure of the exact time, may well be quite late actually

Most of the papers seemed a bit bored of BB anyway though really, BB11 wasnt really very frequently reported on. If anything it will have more coverage with Desmond owning both the Star & the Express and OK magazine or whatever it is

 2008? Jesus I remember logging onto Bebo and Google and seeing the homepage decorated for the Beijing ones, can't believe that was 3 Years ago

But yeah Big Brother 9 did alright really in the ratings, 3 Million a night [got more than that but they just don't record it] so I imagine we'll be okay.

And who knows, with Desmond's news papers and magazines reporting on BB12 next summer alongside the Olympics, it may not be as big of a let down [in terms of ratings] as you think, Surely Desmond has the power to have BB on the front page of his papers and magazines whenever he wants, that'll boost the ratings.

This.

BB10 was barely mentioned either, infact BB9 was the last year The Sun and The Daily Star were all over Big Brother, CBB7 did quite well though actually aswell in the press.

Plus if The Sun gets on board and starts reporting on BB [which I'm sure they will] then that's one more paper added onto The Daily Star, OK, Heat etc etc reporting on BB.

That's what I mean like the Olympics are a huge boost for the UK in terms of Economic growth and they wont be off the front pages at all.....you wont be able to escape the media coverage if you try haha.

No I agree, I dont care what way "Celebrities" act, I mean they never had a true Celebrity on it that was right there in the public eye (Alex wasn't a celebrity he was a product of Jordan) who has won... It's okay as a filler in between but it was way over rated in retrospect.

I like CBB. It fills the gap nicely. Especially when there's crap on in Jan.

I like it in that way but it's the fact people basically put the original series down and say it should be gone forever but the Celebrity version must stay as it's better.

It's on for 3 weeks and isn't that good the only 3 series of it that have been truely brilliant were CBB7, CBB6 and CBB4.

It does fill the gap nicely but there'll be no gap this year it'll be like in Summer when we should be having the original BB.

It's completely going to ruin the Big Comeback really and I actually fear and this could happen,

That CBB will do brilliantly in ratings, BB12 will fail and then they'll decide to axe Big Brother forever and just do CBB for good.

It'll be horrible.

Anything above 1.7 million an episode would please Five. There's no reason to suggest that it wouldn't be a hit (with respect to channel 5's ratings).

Celebrity Big Brother should never have returned after it was axed for Celeb Hijack in 2008 - they'd have been better off focusing all their efforts on the main series, even if that meant extending it to 16 weeks (eek!) to make up the difference.

Although CBB3 & CBB4 were brilliant, it's also when it began to loose what made it charming in the first place with these American names (often unknowns to the BB audience!) coming in and daring to act like - well, celebrities! What appealed about CBB1 & CBB2 was it was a chance for us to see celebs act as normal folk, and as soon as that was lost the concept failed.

No it's not.

CBB is over rated and it's a complete and utter bullsh*t idea to have Celebrity BIG BROTHER without having the main show on.

Because then what right does CBB have to be there? It's nothing more than a short spin off that chavs who can't relate to the Summer Series, adore.

I'd rather have both axed tbh than just have CBB carry on without the original.

The Housemates [like real people, myself, you, tibb etc] are all far more entertaining than a bunch of celebrities.
It defeats the whole purpose of the show.

Because whatever you say goes.
Right? Just because you hate it doesn't mean everyone does. CBB has had a far better reception the past couple of years than BB.
So CBB might be a better way to reintroduce it, the best chance of attracting curious viewers.

And that's very subjective.
I'd rather watch a bunch of celebs than sit watching Josie sleep all day.

I would like bb12 this summer. However it might be too early. In fact.. "Big Brother 12 in 2012" would be better.

A celeb BB would be good this summer too.

Mmm in fact.. thinking about it.. CBB8 this summer. Nothing next January but next summer bb12. Then CBB9 in January 2013, BB 13 in Summer 2013 and the cycle continues...... :)

I would watch the Olympics but I would watch BB over it. If the Olympics.. if there was one day the Olympics was on all day and night then I am sure me and plenty of other fans would turn off the Olympics for an hour just to watch BB. lol

What? Thinking about it BB12 in 2012 sounds better.

Infact this summer would be perfect for a 3/4 week series of CBB. People would watch it and love it and definately not think it's dragging on. Then people will be thirsty for Summer 2012 to come.

This is what should happen.....

This Summer 2011 - CBB8
January 2012 - Nothing

^^^^^^ The changes to the series happens this year but will be more beneficial for next year and the comeback of the normal better series!!

Summer 2012 - BB12
January 2013 - CBB9
Summer 2013 - BB13
January 2014 - CBB10
Summer 2014 - BB14
January 2015 - CBB11
Summer 2015 - BB15

And the same like this should happen every year!! :)
