View Full Version : Egypt unrest: Tense stand-off in Cairo's Tahrir square
There is a tense stand-off in the Egyptian capital's main square, after fights broke out between supporters and opponents of beleaguered President Hosni Mubarak.
Thousands of the president's supporters had surged into Cairo's Tahrir Square, dismantling barricades set up by anti-Mubarak groups.
It followed a call by the army for protesters to return home after nine days of anti-government demonstrations led Mr Mubarak to pledge he would not stand for re-election in September.
Some **** is about to go down in Egypt right now

Journalist on SkyNews was just told to hide that the crowd are trying to kill all foreigners....
Mubarak has already said he will stand down in September, they should just accept the compromise I think

Just saw the recap of the violence on Sky News, crazy stuff, the army dont seem to be doing much but I suppose they're in a bit of a difficult situation
Saw some footage of some man getting dragged of a camel before and getting battered by about 20 people.. don't know how he would have survived that

Very true
I was reading an article like that today, they quoted Lord Palmerston when he said "nations have no permanent friends or allies, only permanent interests", the US here is definitely a case of that, they dont really know who to support, seems to be switching everyday

His New Deputy (or Vice President) went on TV today
saying it takes many weeks to set it all up.
So those that want to sit on that square
will have to give up or sleep for weeks on end there.
As for Yanks it is not there affair.
Its about time news moved away from this
we do not need to view it 24/7.
Small reports will do fine.
