She'll always be working on her music, whether it's for an album or for another artist. She's a workoholic

the day she realises that she's just a Madonna wannabe and tracing the trail that Madonna blazed over 20 years ago.

sad anybody thinks she's original.

Those who thinks she is a Madonna wannabe have the intelligence of a toad. :bored:

But I don't think she has to retire. It would be nice though if she stopped releasing songs about sex into her old age. Madonna is doing that now and quite frankly, its scary and disturbing at the same time. O_o

its only scary to schoolkidz who probably think people should just die at 40.

when you grow up you'll appreciate what she's doing a bit more.

An artist should only retire when they feel they have nothing else to say. [/corny philosophical statements]

-is a bit perplexed by people who laugh at the idea of Lady GaGa being an artist-

You can hate her pretentiousness, you can hate her music, you can hate her style and her image, but you can't really say she's not an artist. She writes, she plays, she performs, she tries to shock and let's be honest: it works. Her pop music is the best written in years.

I hate to use phrases like "haters gonna hate" but I really can't understand why people are against her so viciously. As for the Madonna thing...Madonna's hardly talented. Sure, she's way more important as a revolutionary figure, but come on. Stop attacking what's popular just because she isn't any more.

2nd - I didnt express myself properly, i shouldnt have said that she is not an artist, but I definetely dont think that her work represents art.

I agree on your first paragraph and also think it answers the second one. People hate her because - though there may be a bit of substance - a lot of people recognize that it is at the end of the day a case style over substance. Which is fine for pop. But it's the utterly blatant way she does it I suppose. Wearing outlandish outfits and posing rigor mortis in a way that is guaranteed to get her plastered in the sig and avatars of people who value those traits everywhere a day after the photoshoot because it 'just looks cool'.

She is no doubt a master at it. Probably one of the most effective cases of cult of image since our zany hipster western interpretation of Jesus Christ.

Shaun

Yeah. I agree with that - and I think the fans don't help.

Stu
05-02-2011, 08:58 PM
She's a bit like Paramore. The fans drive me nuts and would render me unable to admit my true feelings for the band in public but they do have some nice beats when I think about it.

I actually don't even hate her. Quite enjoy her music. What I hate is her obsessed followers and their OTT praise of her and their desperate desire to parade themselves as one of her children! Probably because theyre dull and dreary and think that attaching themselves to her glamorosity in such an obsessive way somehow makes them look more interesting. Er, no. Personality wise, Gaga is a dead donkey. At least Madonna had an arrogance and sexual predatory feist about her.

And disrespecting the woman that is quite blatantly her biggest influence and inspiration is both ignorant and disrespectful. Yes, I mean Madonna. I seriously doubt there would be a Lady Gaga without her. Sure of it, in fact.

ps; personally I couldnt care less about Madonna still being top bitch. Her place in music history is already set in stone and a few more number ones won't change sh!t. Nobody can stay at the top forever, thats just a fact. But she sure stayed there for a damn sight longer than just about any other popstar. Let's see if gaga is still talked about in over 20 years time. She certainly will not be top bitch.

She should retire now, I just want to see her 'Monsters' cry and become depressed because believe me there would be some sad bastards that'd take a knife to their throat aswell the day she dies or stops making music.

Isn't she only like 23? What's with the talk of retirement?

Madonna, however, needs to go away. Nothing new from her, repeating herself only ruining what made her memorable by not doing it well.

Callum

I can't see her retiring, I can just see her fading away in a couple of years. I do love her music and her as a person but her obsessive fans put me off her at times.
